Let me set the scene anyway: at this point, Maisie has unionized with Alwyn's crew against us. She has clearly decided that her real family goes on daily hikes and wrestles puppies in a yard all day and we're just the people who pay for it and walk her on non-hiking days like amateurs. The HHH setup is simple: morning pickup, a hike (which basically puts them in "work" mode), followed by "day care" which really just means a bunch of dogs absolutely losing their minds in a big open yard, running, wrestling, generally living their best lives. Then drop off, for us it is around 3 to 4pm, with a tired/cuddly dog who is ready for a meal and a nap. And on days we can't make it home in time, the crew will let Maisie into the house, who then goes and eats the food we left out and finds her bed like she owns the place. Alwyn and her whole crew are fantastic, warm, attentive, clearly actual dog people and not just people with a car and a business license. Maisie adores every single one of them, especially Kris. We actually ran into Kris on a totally unrelated walk one day and Maisie almost lost her mind and then locked in and snapped right into perfect "walking" mode, which says a lot about how well that crew handles her on the daily. I've trusted my dog with Healthy Hounds Hiking for over 4 years - since my pup was old enough to join the pack! The owners are wonderful and treat our pup like one of their own. On hike days at pick up, our dog RUNS down the stairs into the arms of his waiting driver, tail wagging so rapidly he has a hard time standing up! I HIGHLY recommend HHH if you are looking to socialize your dog, get more exercise and fun for them AND it's also nice to have a quiet house a few days a week. Pick up and drop off is great and text communication is superb. I can't say enough about the owners as well - they are some of the nicest people I've ever worked with. I am a first time dog owner, and when our pup had an ear infection, Alwyn helped guide me on how to administer the ear drops making the experience seamless. She's also an amazing dog trainer, and has helped us with numerous situations when our dog is not acting normal. Alwyn and the HHH crew have been the best thing for our pup Ava! We had been trying to get Ava into a pack hike group but were unable to find one near us that had openings. We were so lucky to meet Alwyn and get Ava set up for pack hikes and daycare 2 days a week. She loves it. She knows when they are at the door. They also train her to "sit/stay" at a distance to take pictures. She has learned to loose leash walk. She comes home after a day of fun with her pup and human friends. Alwyn first helped me out at the last minute when I had all day plans on a Saturday and I couldn't bring my mini Aussie, Lucy. I called her on Friday and Saturday she showed up exactly at 9:45 AM. The hike with her dogs was so fun for Lucy that I decided to book two days a week with Healthy Hounds Hiking. Lucy gets 3+ hours of walking and hiking with the pack for well thought out excursions. And Alwyn and her team are always on time to pick up and return my dog. And I always get fantastic updates of the hike, which I look forward to as a nice distraction from my work meetings. Healthy Hound Hikes has been an absolute life saver and a great addition into my pups life. We got our pup during covid and she's had very limited interactions with other humans or other pups and she was starting to act out and be stir crazy. So off we went searching for options that could allow her to have time with other pups, but would also be convenient as we are working from home and have lots of meetings (i.e. I was not prepared for the amount of meetings covid would bring). We came across Healthy Hounds and we're impressed by the amount of dogs they were pack walking with and how the dogs were so well behaved. And they had just opened a branch here on the east side of Lake Washington. YAY US! So we emailed and got a response really quickly and got our pup set up for twice a week hikes starting the very next week. Our pup really enjoyed being with other dogs on the hikes that we also added in a day of daycare so she could run around all day and be exposed to even more pup socialization. Her behavior has dramatically improved (no more accidents, no more barking in the middle of the night, no more ripping things that she shouldn't) since we started her with these pack walks. Alwyn has even been training our pup how to not pull and working on her social skills so she is less afraid of masks and people who she doesn't know. Our pup is always so excited when she hears Alwyns vehicle pull up in the driveway because she knows her friends are here. TLDR: Pack hikes are great for all dogs, but especially during covid.
