I bought a massage through Groupon and I went there today. I liked the massage but I got very upset because she kept offering me additional services. I accepted only the hot stone ($30) and kept refusing the others additional. At the end, when I was going to pay for the massage, she charged me extra $55 and I told her I accepted only the hot stone, nothing else but she doesn't speak English very well and couldn't understand me. I repeated 3 times and she kept insisting that it was $55 so I paid and left. Also, before I leave she kept offering me and insisting that I buy the annual package which includes 6 massages. I refused that more than 5 times and she kept insisting, the only way I had to get rid of her was saying that I would go back there later to buy the package. *I called on Sunday to schedule an appointment and she scheduled for Tuesday at 11am. On Monday she called me to reschedule for noon, I asked the reason and she couldn't understand me and kept asking if I could go at noon. Later on the same day, she called me again to reschedule again for 1pm. I asked her I rescheduled earlier today and I would like to keep my appointment at noon but she didn't understand me and kept confirming at 1pm. I told her I hope that it is the last time my appointment is rescheduled because this is frustrating but I think she didn't understand me. read more

I booked a swedish massage through Groupon - it was not worth even the price I paid for that never mind the very expensive advertised price. There was only one employee handling both the front desk and my massage. I paid ahead of time so as not to have to worry about it the day of and despite that had to spend the first 10 minutes of my appointment waiting for them to locate confirmation of the payment details. I fully expected that this time would be added back to the end of my massage but instead the first thing she told me when she entered the massage room was that my appointment would end sharply at the end of the hour. Given that I was already set up I let it go but was even more surprised when she cut the end of the massage another 5 minutes short because she had another appointment to get ready for. So all in all my massage lasted only 3/4 the length of the appointment I paid for. There was no intake of any sort or opportunity to give preferences about what I wanted or specific areas to focus on. There was also nowhere to put your clothes and other belongings in the massage room. Once I was set up, she came in and asked me to put my hair up myself which not only seemed unnecessary but was very difficult to do laying face down and undressed on a table while she sat watching. The room wasn't very warm and the only thing that was used throughout the massage was basic lotion as opposed to any type of oil or relaxing fragrance. She also interrupted the massage several times to try to sell add-on services. She first offered a hot stone treatment without mentioning that it was an additional charge. She didn't speak English well so I had to ask several times to confirm if it was included or cost extra, and I refused after learning that it would be an additional $30. Later on she interrupted to ask if I wanted to buy a gift care for future use and again I had to ask her to repeat herself several times to understand what she was asking, during which time she completely stopped the massage. The interruptions took a lot away from the relaxation aspect. The massage itself was mediocre at best. It felt very rushed and was not tailored to my preferences since there was no intake process or questions of any kind. The skill level was that of an average person as opposed to a trained professional and there was no foot or head massage, which was disappointing. It ended early and abruptly with a simple "Ok, we're done" as she walked out the door. Every other place I have gone has offered cold water on your way out, which did not happen here. I tipped less than I had planned but still left a reasonable cash tip, which she took without any acknowledgement. I'm giving it a 3 (instead of a 2) because my husband had a slightly better experience than I did. I get the impression that they book primarily through Groupon offers given the quality and tipping signage. My husband booked us a 50 minute couples massage. About 6 minutes after the hour we were brought back to separate rooms, which defeats the purpose of a couples massage. My massage probably started about 10 after and ended promptly at 3 (with a few interruptions), my husband was done a few minutes after me. There was no intake or questions asking about areas to focus on/avoid, pressure preference, etc. I had Nicole who got started right away and immediately started trying to upsell me for cupping. She asked me if I wanted something else, but I couldn't understand so I said no. Then she asked if I wanted hot stone for free. I didn't know what my husband booked so I said ok. She asked me to clip my hair back but then just put a towel over it anyway so that seemed a bit unnecessary. Once she pulled the sheet down that was covering my back she mentioned a spot and asked me if it hurt. I said no (my dermatologist shaved off a tiny beauty mark a few months back). She left the room and retuned wearing gloves. It was hard to relax because they were making noise in my ear, plus she would stop periodically to adjust them and there were a few times where they squeaked because of built up air releasing. The massage itself was lukewarm at best. Nothing was mirrored from my right to left side (ie: long motions down the left side of my back, but not on the right). When it was time for the hot stones she disappeared for a few minutes. The added value of having them was questionable. At one point she asked if I lived close. I said no, she asked me where. I told her and mentioned it was a half hour away. She told me she lived in Chinatown. At another point she started telling me I could buy 5 sessions and get one free, which could be used for massages or facials. The frequent sales pitches were disruptive. She asked me to flip over and started asking me how my massage was, signaling it was over. She did a few quick passes down each arm, pulled each finger, then did the quick closed fist pulsing movement up and down my body. She began to massage my temples and forehead with the gloves pulling at my skin. The head massage would have been enjoyable, except for the gloves tugging on my hair. No foot or quad massage, which was disappointing. My husband said his masseuse noted some areas he was tense and focused there, while also pointing out a bruise or two which she avoided. His massage was more even across his body, giving it a 6/10 rating. read more

This was absolutely the worst place. Do not go for any reason. It is dirty, understaffed, not professionally staffed, and a total scam. I paid for a 90 min treatment and received a 40 min horrible facial. I actually don't think you could even call it that. I mean the girl that did my " facial" had no clue what to do. I was told to lay down on what appeared to be a dirty area with used towels. I noticed hair sticking on sheet/towel and asked for clean one. She wasn't happy about that. I ask her if I should remove my clothing on upper half because usually you at least have a towel or a half robe on your top. She said "no leave on your earring. and clothes, its all fine just lay down" I am sorry I did. Listen to your intuition ladies, and gents. My skin was not cleaned really. Same rag dipped in same water, and overly perfumed product applied, she got it my eyes and they burned so badly. I really truly cannot just go through the steps because it was just such a joke. She'd slather something on, wipe it off with the same cloth, rinse it same bowl. There was no care or concern. It was just get me in and out as fast as she can, it was so disappointing, I can't begin to tell you everything- just don't go. Even the supposed "tranquil music" was just playing on the same track and repeat every two or three minutes and then it would skip and jump. Zero relaxing. I felt like I was on punked (MTV) Because, yes it was just that bad. There was just nothing nice about anything. I can't think of one thing good to say and that's really sad. I booked a radio frequency facial treatment. It was advertised at $185 for 90 minutes and I got a super suck 40 minute facial. I was shocked when she told me to get up because I thought she was going to do the facial and then maybe this treatment because I still had All this time left she said you go now. You like? We done. I definitely complained as I stood there shocked about what had just happened. Instead they just charged half which was again another shock. I would never give her a review like this unless a place needed to go out of business and that place needs to go. There was no one professionally licensed there that knew how to do anything. My neck/back were sore by the end of it from holding still for so long. The technician kept leaving to do other tasks throughout, so this might be why it took so long. That was just the beginning. Throughout the service she was only talking about the others deals they have, and that I really need them foot my health. I got a massage here years ago and it was good. This time my husband and I decided we needed a day off from work and decided scheduled a message with this place. When we made the appointment, my husband told me "I don't think the person I spoke with got it right - they were rushing me off the phone". Well we show up and are told there is no massage in the books for us. We explained we made the appointment and we know it is today because we took the day off for this. Not an apology. Nothing. We were told we have nothing. We were given the option of coming back later and since we have the day off we have a full day planned. I am from california and came here on a trip and needed my eyelashes done. i asked for a long hybrid lash extensions and when i saw them in the mirror i woke up to fighting and thought WTF! my eyelashes looked like they did not exist , and the worker was yelling at my friend. i was charged 100 dollars for shitty short lashes, and was FORCED to give a tip. when i wanted to leave the smallest gratuity for time i was told "this is not how it's done in cambridge" WTF DOES THAT EVEN MEAN. believe it or not the story hasn't even started yet. i woke up to golf ball sized eyes. i was in so much pain and looked horrible . i was having a severe allergic reaction that resulted in n nausea, vomiting and burning. i was also coughing sneezing and could not breath. I usually don't leave a review unless the interaction is so shit that I want to warn friends and others to avoid a place to not go through the stress and anxiety I had to go through. I made an appointment at 4pm and arrived at 4pm and was checked in. And they asked me to wait a little bit and have a seat in the lobby. They did not come out to check on me until an hour later. I considered leaving but having already paid in advance, there was not much I could do. This place is mostly a waste of time and the staff has no respect for your time or schedule. Edit: the technician informed me later that they accidentally double booked so I had to wait an hour. Natural Healing Center is fantastic & their staff is great! It is very clean & sanitary, yet still very comfortable. Even the massage table was heated (perfect in this cold weather). I went with my girlfriend (who got Nichole) and said she was absolutely great! I got Suki and she was truly outstanding as well! Suki was very nice, explained everything she did, asked what specific problem areas I had, and what pressure levels were good. You could definitely tell she was very knowledgeable & experienced in regards to massage/the human muscle structure. This lead to a very positive & helpul experience overall. They offered us both some upgraded massage options such as cupping & hot stone, but certainly did not try to force them on us at all! I was feeling especially stressed the past couple weeks, and a friend suggested that I should get a massage to help me relax a bit. I found a Groupon for this place (really good deal), it has good reviews here on Yelp, and it is conveniently located so I decided to give it a try. I have to say, I'm very glad I did as it was a more than satisfying experience. First, I was impressed by how accommodating they were to me. I had a 6PM appointment for a 1-hour massage, and they close at 7PM. I was stuck in traffic and then my phone wasn't working so I had some trouble finding the place (not that it's hard to find at all, in fact it's pretty easy to locate- I'm just hopelessly lost without a GPS) and I ended up being 15 minutes late. Nevertheless, I was cordially greeted by a sweet young man named Sam who assured me that it was fine and directed me to my room. I still got my full hour treatment even though it went past their closing time. It was my first time getting a professional massage, and I wasn't sure what to do or expect. Sam was very helpful in giving me clear instructions and he was easy to converse with. The massage itself was delightful and thorough. I prefer moderately lighter massages because I want to be relaxed rather than have more pain, and his technique was well-suited to my preferences. By the end, I felt a lot of the built-up tension from my recently stressful life had melted away. After sitting in the office for an entire day hunched over my computer,I often have some tension in my neck, shoulders and back. After my visit to the Natural Healing Center, I no longer felt the tension. Sam did a great job relieving the knots in my shoulder and neck. The room was really nice, with music playing softly in the background, and the ambiance was nice too. It all added together to create a relaxing atmosphere with a great massage. This was my worst ever massage experience. I got this as a gift voucher on my birthday from my friends. I made my husband pay for the second one and booked for a couple massage. First they said yes and then when we entered they said we're giving you two separate rooms next to each other so that you two feel connected. I was like what?? They said the couple room isn't ready for some reason. They shouldn't have booked us at the first place if that was not ready. The therapist, did NOT know English at all. Her name was Irvine. But anyhow we started off with the therapy for deep tissue. Frankly speaking, they didn't seem to know any difference between Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage. The room was stinking of some old oil. The therapist of ny husband used stone, but no pressure. He tried to tell her, but she wouldn't understand English. My therapist did not use any of the equipment like stone or anything. She kept on pin pointing at 2 points continuously for 5 times so hard that it became sore for next 3 days! The major disappointment: The buzzer started ringing even before she started messaging my front side. And when I asked her about that she was either pretending/ not.understanding what I was talking about. And after I explained her through body language, she explained to me that 60 mins is only good for back side and for front side I should take 90 mins. I mean did she think I look like a fool to her? Or getting a massage done for the first time? I am a massage lover and treat myself almost every couple of months for last 5 years at least, spend good money on myself to keep me fresh. In the end, they never asked me how I felt as their customer care review. I was waiting for them to ask but the cashier was more focused on how much we tipped. For the past several years I have done Groupon after Groupon, trying to find a quality, but affordable massage therapist. One who actually knew how to do deep tissue productively. One where scheduling and location was convenient. And one where I felt like they earned what would be full price if I hadn't been there for the Groupon. I have tried around 20 places over the years, looking for this place. I found it. One massage with Lucy, and I was hooked. I signed up for a year membership right then and there! She gave a thorough, very professional massage, with a knack of intuitively finding the worst knots. At with membership 60-minute massage rates of $49, I'm pretty happy. The only hold up for me are the tables, as the hole through which I put my head when on my stomach is awkwardly shaped, and caused a fair bit of discomfort on my first visit. On my subsequent visits, I wizened up and found a better position in relation to the face hole. And with that, I have found my massage home. Lucy. Is. Amazing. I must admit that I'm confused by previous reviews that stated that Lucy missed the mark, as I can't imagine how it would be the same person as the negative reviews I've seen. This place is fucking AWFUL!!!!! I'm so pissed off with this place. I walk into the salon yesterday and the ladies there seemed like they knew what they were doing by the way they talked to me and my friend but NO they didn't. At first, I wanted to do a classic eyelash extension set and the lady said she would do those first and see how I liked them and then she was going to give me a hybrid set if I didn't like the fullness of the classic ones. When she was done with one eye she gave me the mirror and not even half of them were done. It was fucking terrible. I tried to explain to her that they weren't filled and that it doesn't take 10 minutes to do one side of eyelashes. The entire time it was burning and I was crying. Then I told her that and she said that that's how every eyelash place does them in Boston. I was like that doesn't even make sense because they aren't even filled in and it's burning. I got into a heated back and forth confrontation with both of the ladies that worked there. My friend got her eyelashes done as well and they were terrible and they pressured her into getting HYBRID. WHEN SHE WOKE UP IN THE MORNING HER EYES WERE BULGING OUT OF HER SOCKET!!!! We tried calling them multiple times because we had to go to the emergency room for this and they blocked us. I went to Natural Healing Center for a 3pm appointment, and I had great experience. The place is conveniently located near the Porter Square T stop but I decided to drive there anyway. Luckily there were ample parking spots behind the building (and free, too!). The place was spacious, and everything looked clean and brand new. I was hoping to see a nicer and more sophisticated decor which would, you know, create a more oriental kind of ambiance. But instead, it has a more modern, Ikea kind of look. I chose the deep tissue massage, and Dee was my therapist. She did a great job in relieving my pain on my neck and lower back. After learning that I am a runner, she gave me a massage over my ankles and joints, which felt great! The one-hour appointment went by very quickly. Dee and I had some pretty good conversation - our talk about dim sum made me nostalgic.. I would say that it was an hour well spent. I have been to this place before and had a fantastic experience (had Lucy) This time was not as great. The message (never got the guys name, never asked for gender preference) was OK. But I was still ok and fine with it. I had forgotten to grab cash so I was going to go to the bank afterwards. As I went to walk out the lady at the register who was in the middle of helping customers stopped and called out to me asking if I was going to tip. !!!!! are you serious? I'm sorry but that was very rude on her part to call me out in front of everyone. I get that maybe they were assuming I wasnt going to give a tip, maybe I should have informed them as I was walking out, but I felt a little awkward saying that in front of other customers. Also, tip is NOT required. Still, I was going to tip and walked to the bank. I got cash out and on my way back to the place (about 5-8 mins) I received a phone call from them! Now, Im really ticked off. I turned around and walked home. I'm sorry and I know it wasnt the guys fault but the etiquette was non existent and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I had an amazon local deal here, and I have to say that I was quite pleasantly surprised by this plain looking massage parlor! I got an hour sweedish massage and it was pretty great! It did start a little soft, but I just asked for harder pressure and then it was perfect! He even found a knot in my back and didn't move on until that knot was gone :-) Hooray! They do use those loud kitchen timers to time the massages which I thought was a little weird, and the room was also a bit on the cold side (I had a 10am appointment so they had just opened) so I had wished the oils were warmer too, but for the price and the ease of location I will definitely be back here. But just to note, if you do want a hot stone massage which I actually did, the 10am appointments when they open are not enough time for the stones to be hot which I didn't know until I got to my appointment, so just a friendly FYI if that is your goal for your massage! read more

Bought a Groupon here last week and had the most disappointing, unprofessional massage of my life. Judy started our session by complaining about her coworkers and telling me why I was lucky to have gotten her as my massage therapist. She proceeded to talk the entire hour (about herself, mostly complaining and not respecting the fact that I was clearly disinterested in socializing during what was supposed to be a relaxing 60 minutes). While I prefer a deep-tissue massage, she was overly aggressive and I had to take ibuprofen and use a warm compress the next day to remedy the pain she inflicted on me. I have never written a negative Yelp review before but this experience warranted it. My massage left me more tense than when I arrived. Alright. Fast forward a few days, and the owner calls me to make things right (and asked for a better Yelp review). I was scheduled for the next day with May, and again, great scheduling. I was ushered right into a room, there was a blanket on the table, and my face and neck were appropriately cushioned. Yay! May was phenomenal. She asked what areas we should focus on, found knots that I didn't know I had, and was probably the most thorough shoulder massage I ever got. I didn't recognize all of the strokes but it was great!!! The kitchen timer thing is still a little weird, but again, it's definitely more a down to earth place than frilly. I left Natural Healing Center relaxed, with WAY fewer knots than when I went in. I would definitely go back to see May, but buyer beware when it comes to the other therapists! Linda is FANTASTIC. There's scar tissue in my upper back from several injuries I received as a semi-pro shot-putter. No matter what I do to try and control it (exercise, using a yoga ball or standing desk, etc...) it's consistently becoming inflamed due to stress. She gave me such a hard deep tissue I thought I would break a rib, but now I feel so loose I might go try out for Cirque Du Soliel. Would not recommend! I bought the Groupon offer for a 60 minute deep tissue massage and requested to have an appointment with Lucy, after hearing all the rave reviews. I arrived early before my scheduled appointment and filled out paperwork (which took longer than expected, probably five minutes), so my massage definitely did not start on time. I received a different massage therapist than requested. While he was decent at deep tissue, he ended my appointment at least 10 minutes early! I only realized that belatedly when I walked out the door and heard the church bells strike the hour... After he ended the session, I had enough time, get dressed, tip, interact with the staff, receive and drink a glass of water, and use the restroom. I honestly feel cheated out of my promised 60 minute massage and am glad I did not pay full price. Next time, I'm just going to go to Fong's Massage Therapy in Chinatown. read more
