Took my moms chihuahua here for grooming today and they did an incredible job! I called last minute seeing if they had availability and they were so courteous, kind and accommodating. Dawn, who I spoke with in the phone and did the grooming was very helpful and our little Missy looked and smelled so great! She explained to me over the phone that they used all organic shampoos, this was nice to here since our dog had an issue with dry flakey skin. Healthy Paws is a great place which sells Premium Dog Food. These are the brands you can't find at Wal Mart or PetsMart. The dog food my dog eats needs to come from one of these stores. Anyhow, the store is in a corner next to the Ritz banquet hall. They are open Tuesday through Sunday. The owner is a really nice lady who knows her pet products. She also sells all the professional flea repelants and even introduced me to a more healthier way to protect my pet from fleas which saved me alot of money. While I am not a cat lover, the cats in the place are very domesticated and mind their own business. These type of stores are few and far inbetween and its nice to see owner rather just a staff member working at a corporate pet store that is cold and overpriced. Pricing is well pricing. If you want to pay 50 cents for a can of dog food at the grocery store or wal mart than you are going to get a can worth that much. If you want the best for your dog or cat and can afford the higher end stuff, then by all means spurge for your little friend, you will see the difference in what comes out of their rear ends. read more

This place is awful and they don't take care of the cats in their "shelter". I adopted my cat from them sometime in December 2020 after my last cat had passed away. When I got to Healthy Paws the owner was rude and short with my mother and I and almost seemed like she wanted us out instead of our business. When we did convince her to let us look at the cats she had available she told us that several were not available to be adopted because they had some sort of infection. These sick cats were not separated from any of the other cats and they were all shoved into a large cage together. We asked about one cat in particular that she told us was unavailable and seemed to be a favorite of hers. Eventually, my mom and I settled on another cat that the owner was fine with letting us have even though he also had an "ear infection". We took this cat to the vet the next day and he was riddled with disease. He had an ear infection, a gum infection, a full-body fever, was covered in scabs either from his own scratching or other cats. His gums were so infected that 5/6 of his upper incisors fell out of his face when the vet tried to scrape plaque off of them during a routine cleaning. he was diagnosed with feline calicivirus, a highly contagious and possibly deadly respiratory virus. The vet said that it was very likely that he got it during his stay at the shelter and that it was a very real possibility that if I had not adopted him and started treatment as soon as I did he would have died. Please, PLEASE do not support this place and most of all do not surrender your cat here. read more

Earlier I brought my dog home from a vet visit for a bad case of fleas. This came after several painful weeks of my spouse, myself and my mother-in-law watching our dog suffer an unprecedented attack. We've now spent over $200 in attempt to address the problem, beginning with a trip to "Healthy Paws" for a flea bath and culminating in a return trip to speak with the owner/groomer after the vet explained what needed to happen --- a flea dip --- which didn't happen, although not for trying on our part. Our dog, about eight years old, has been with "Healthy Paws" since the place opened, making an annual trip for her summer "hair cut". Every year, we've been bathing, grooming and engaging in "flea prevention" at the onset of summer using the products and services of "Healthy Paws". That's why I'm saddened to say the owner, Dawn, lost a customer today. All we wanted was for the owner to stand behind a service she provided, a service that failed our dog because of an entirely preventable miscommunication. We learned instead: No guarantees. Every summer, we have purchased Advantage from "Healthy Paws" and while our outdoor "only dog" formerly had no notable flea problems, I had begun to observe for two or three years that whatever had been applied during her annual grooming, wasn't working as expected. Was the product expired? Had it been properly stored in a cool place? All we knew is this: Our dog went in each year shedding her winter coat but not "itchy", yet came out scratching, despite receiving Advantage during grooming. This summer, however, we could not ignore that not only was she scratching, now she was whipping her head around to bite --- day and night. One look beneath her recently-trimmed coat revealed that she was flea-bitten from head to tail. Worse, we continued to see her suffer after applying another dose of Advantage the month following her initial appointment. My mother-in-law suggested making a second appointment --- this time to deal specifically with the fleas. It became readily apparent that our dog was still biting and scratching from the moment she jumped out of the car, once home from her "flea bath" just before Labor Day. In addition, her tear-stained face showed no evidence of having been washed. Within hours of paying nearly $60 for "flea treats" and a shampoo the groomer/owner, Dawn, said would sooth the skin and kill the fleas, our dog was so agitated she could not stay still. (Since her vaccinations in June, the vet said she shed four pounds, likely due to stress.) Worse, a heat wave struck Labor Day week and because what should have been the end of the fleas wasn't, we couldn't let our heavily-coated Chow mix spend afternoons inside staying cool. In spite of repeated and costly attempts to prevent and to rid our pet of fleas, we saw no appreciable relief for our dog. A week after her failed flea bath, I called to ask Dawn to clarify what had been applied. She hedged her answer, saying what she had said at the outset: the shampoo "kills fleas". She suggested our "older" dog may be suffering from skin allergies. She asked if I had checked to see if there were any fleas at all. Sure enough, after hanging up the phone I found fleas all over her body. Frustrated, with my harried spouse trying to get out of town on business, we made an unscheduled stop at a pet store in search of a product we could apply ourselves. The helpful employees said that given our dog had been hit with Advantage and a flea-dip, all within two weeks, it wouldn't be a good idea to apply another layer of toxins. They pointed out the warning labels on the shampoo bottles. And since I still couldn't really answer WHAT had been applied to our dog, we erred on the side of caution. We bought botanical alternatives rather than the standard "flea shampoo". There went another $30. Following treatment, our dog was biting herself just as desperately as ever, the sun beat down without mercy, and I still couldn't let the poor thing in our flea-free home. It was time to get the veterinarian involved. Where had we gone wrong? The vet confirmed that our dog had a severe infestation --- but no indication of skin allergy. He recommended an oral product, but said she first needed --- you guessed it--- a flea bath! Now we had a $100 vet bill, a $60 "Healthy Paws" bill, a $30 pet store purchase and what did our dog need? A standard FLEA DIP. Ca-ching! My spouse and I stopped at "Healthy Paws" on the way home. This time he did the talking: What kind of flea bath had she received? He learned that our dog's "flea bath" was not MEDICATED. Had this fact been disclosed at the outset, we wouldn't have thrown good money after bad, duplicating efforts only to end up back at square one, a flea dip! Dawn explained that she doesn't stock conventional flea shampoo, would not perform a re-do and wouldn't refund our money to make right. So much for patronizing a mom 'n pop. We're headed where the pets go: Petsmart! read more

I LOVE this store! It's very unassuming, and sort of shoved in the corner of an older shopping center, but it's easily the best pet store in the area. Not only are the staff super friendly and helpful, but they carry an excellent selection of natural foods for both cats and dogs. My dogs I feed a home-prepared raw diet, so I don't buy dog food there, but I was *thrilled* to find a nearby pet store that carried pre-made raw (nature's variety) for my cat. If raw food isn't your thing they also carry many different varieties of high quality canned and kibble food that you just can't find at other pet stores in the area. The prices I've found to be comparable to other stores (at least for their raw food). Honestly, I could not be happier with this store! read more

Really great place with friendly and helpful staff! I heard about Healthy Paws because the brand I buy (Acana) pulled their product from Chewy.com making it only available at mom & pop places. It's tucked away in a corner next to the Ritz Gardens banquet hall. I called ahead to make sure they had the right food and they were quick about checking their stock and giving me a price right away. When I arrived, they walked me back to the shelf and carried the bag to the counter. It looked like they offered a lot of some of the best pet foods out there. The man rung me up quickly and told me they were all about healthy stuff. He was so nice and helpful (I can't say this enough). And they have a loyalty/rewards program where I get a bag of free food after I buy 12 bags! Chewy never offered that! And they had a tiny bit better price than some of the OC feed stores. Anyway, he carried the food to my trunk without me asking and even opened my door for me and wished me a good day. I was blown away by their quick service and hospitality - it's so very rare. Definitely give this place a shot! They won't disappoint & it makes you feel good to support a small local business rather than PetSmart or PetCo or online stores. read more

Dont come to this place. After bringing my pup here to get groomed she came home with an awful rash all over her body. Months later and it still hasn't gone away, poor baby has been in so much pain and discomfort ever since!! So awful. They also cut her in multiple areas and the rash turned out to be some type of skin infection. read more

I came to find a chewing bone for my puppy, she insists on a bully bone. I explained it was not a good option for a bulldog due to food allergies and she goes on to say well there's allergies in the air "the shit outside" she was foul and rude just disregarding my concerns. On top of that the shop smells like a litter box very messy. I don't see how she receives good reviews. Avoid this place it's dusty, smelly and customer service is terrible read more

We found Healthy Paws years ago when they were still in Fullerton. We were feeding our dogs a raw food diet at the time and our vet in Brea didn't always have the food in stock. We were excited to find a high quality pet food store in the area that did carry it and always had it on hand. We were even happier when they moved to Whittier. When our newest dogs didn't care for the raw food, Dawn was happy to provide several different samples for them to try. She stays up on the manufacturers and warns us if there has been any changes to the business or process. She makes sure we know about and participate in any brand loyalty programs and provides samples of new products that we might be interested in. She is happy to make special orders and calls us when the product is in. We are extremely happy to have a high quality pet food store in our area without all the attitude and jacked up prices found in the big city stores. read more

Needless to say I found a better groomer who treats my pups like family HAPPY PUPPY anywho I have been busy with work and all and my normal groomer is closed on Sunday so I decided to give this place one more chance. As I walked in I was greeted but quickly ignored the female personal had discussing attitude and terrible customer service. I bit my lip and hoped for the best when it came time to pick up my pups I again got terrible customer service from the same lady and as I looked at my dogs they did not shower them all they did was cut their hair... So happy I took my nephew's cocker spaniel dog, Roscoe to Healthy Paws! He was suffering from a flea epidemic so I got him a medicated bath and hair cut and added Advantage for $10 more = worth every penny. The grooming ingredients are all-natural and they even advised that they don't use heat to dry the fur because it dries out the skin and natural oils. She explained that Roscoe felt so much better after it was done but to also wash anything he lays on to be careful when he goes outside. I will definitely be bringing my cats here as well. I am so pleased with the service and so was my nephew. They really do care about pets. They have a great selection of goods and I love that they have a cat adoption area; beautiful adult cats that are safe and well-cared for until they have a forever home. It smells terrible in this place BUT once you get past the horrible stench ( they are a kitty shelter also and this is how much i value this place to actually not run out of here) it is such a wonderful pet shop. They carry only the best/natural food for your pets and the owner dawn is INCREDIBLY up to date and knowledgable about all things pets. I trust them to groom our dogs, our furry babies love it there and come home looking spectacular at a decent price. I get both my cats nails cut here and they only charge $10 each cat, which compared to others places is an amazing price. Usually you can walk right in and be done and leaving within 10 minutes. Hi Dawn! Hi Betty! I've been a customer of "Healthy Paws" for at least 5-6yrs. I found them when I was getting my oil changed and they where in the strip mall in Fullerton, Ca. They moved down the street from me a couple years ago. Dawn has helped me out with so many cat/dog needs I've had over the years with all the rescues I've collected and found homes for. I always go to her for good food and healthy remedies for my animals. But now I have a little cockapoo named "Jack". He is the loveliest animal I've ever owned! He's actually my first dog. He has a fussy stomach and Dawn worked with me through the hard times of my little guy being sick all the time. We now have the perfect dietary plan for him and I buy his food there every month. I'm a regular. Now to get to Jack's fav part of Healthy paws.....He just loves, loves, loves, Betty the house groomer. I always say, Betty makes Jack beautiful. She even brush's his little teeth! There is nothing but love going there way from Jack & I. Healthy Paws has also gotten the attention of my family & friends with the way Jack has grown so healthy and beautiful.
