Dawn has really educated herself about HEALTHY QUALITY diets for cats and dogs; because, truly-for all the love and companionship they give us, isn't the LEAST we can do is provide a healthy diet ? Also, Dawn and Jeff are the kindest people I have met in quite some time. Their store is in a weird out of the way strip mall, but that makes the parking GREAT! I am a Volunteer at this awesome Store, and not only is Dawn the most knowledgable person on Pet food I have ever met, but she has a huge heart of gold and generally cares for the animals. My boxer dog was having skin problems and as soon as I started to listen to Dawn and feed him healthy food from her store no more than 2 weeks later his skin cleared up...Point is (YES) Vets are needed, but not always, sometimes just a good healthy diet without Mac Donald's in the mix will cure what is making you sick, and that includes our fury loved ones. I love this store. I love Dawn. The best part is she practices what she preaches. She has a cat rescue. I was so excited the first time I walked in her store and saw that not only did she care about offering great food but she extended her passion to providing a service to those abondoned cats who now would have exposure to be adopted at her store. Her dedication to the health of domestic cats and dogs is a real gem in a world of "just eat for cheap." It is documented that the food we and our pets eat are contributing factors to our health and lifespan. Just like a computer, what you put in is what you get out. Dawn not only offers great options for healthy eating for my best pet friends, she is a wealth of information. I know if I have a question, there is a person I can go to for an answer. I am so excited that my money for pet food goes to this indepedent business women who had a dream and is now living it. I get my long haired cat groomed here because his hair gets matted real bad so every 6mos we shave him down. There aren't too many places that want to deal with a cat but since I've found them I have been coming here couple years and they do a great job. My cat gets a little crazy doing the shave so they take their time and he comes out fine. read more

Love this pet store!! I first came in a number of months ago looking to switch my cat over to a high quality food. I had done some research and already had a brand in mind but the gal who owns the shop gave me a bunch of samples of different foods to try and showed me brands of equal quality but cheaper price. It was nice. Unfortunately my cat never quite made the switch. Very picky girl. A few months later I got a dog and decided to go back to this shop for dog food an I got the same amazing help. She helped me pick out a cheaper brand of food isn't very well known but it is very good quality and my dog thrives on it! Love all the work they do to help adopt cats. Any real animal lover won't mind the kitty smell inside...for all the cats they help save it is clean. Overall great shop!! read more

Had a problem with Dawn, the owner. If you can deal with unfortunate attitude then you will like taking your dog there. Just do not tell her how to groom your pet, because she will not welcome your advise. She cuts your pet the way she want too. I told not to my pets ears, that I was trying to let her ear length grow, and she when ahead and cut the length of her ears. She said the my pet represents her shop and she felt they needed to be cut. read more

I have finally found a groomer that I like! I came in here short notice and everyone was friendly and professional. She had a cute cut and was properly groomed... She even seemed to be less nervous then she usually gets at the groomer so she must have been treated like a queen! This is a fantastic pet store. They have a wide variety of quality, healthy pet foods and supplies, and are always willing to help with advice and information. When we got our first rabbit, the owner did careful research to help us find a good quality feed, and our rabbit has been very healthy on the feeding regimen she recommended. I love this place because they have the larger cans (13.2 oz) of higher end cat food (EVO, Wellness, Evanger's) for a GREAT price...ranged from 1.45 per can for Evanger's to 2.10 for EVO. I will definitely be doing all my future cat food shopping here. read more

Maybe their other grooming services are better, but I would highly suggest going somewhere else for nail caps. Not only was a lot of my DLH cat's paw hair stuck in the glue for the nail caps, they used an excessive amount of glue. At first I was impressed that she wasn't able to remove any after application, and that they were still going strong a month later. Two months later I trimmed the nail caps because they had exceeded the 4-6 weeks they were supposed to be on, and that was the suggested way to remove stubborn nail caps. They still didn't come off. I had the nail caps done in August, and it took until March the next year before I was able to get them completely off. I had to regularly trim the caps down to make sure her claws didn't grow around her paws. For a product that should fall off naturally after 6 weeks, I can't imagine the amount of glue they used on these that would manage to keep them on so long. My cat ended up shattering many of her nails from trying to chew the caps off, leaving slivers of the nail around the quick as the only thing left. As an owner, I feel terrible for having her go through an experience like this. I've talked to a variety of people who have nail caps regularly applied, and they've never heard of something like this happening before, leading me to believe it was the poor application this store provided to be the culprit. I would never take my cat here again. read more

The reviewer before said very nice things about this place... but the staff in my opinion(2 ladies) were actually a bit rude and very assuming. One of them pretty much stared me down, and I'm not sure if that's just the way she looks but I didn't feel comfortable there. My dog had been in a different home before I took her up so she was fairly matted and definitely needed a groom. They really judged me hardcore without even knowing any situation. They also charged extra to brush my dog's teeth but I noticed NOTHING different about her breath or teeth... so I don't even believe they did anything for her. We also ended up paying $50. Pretty pricey. Although they were nice to my dog, I don't really think i'll come back to this place again. read more

Love the groomer, Betty! Love the groomer! Best job on my Gizmo ever, he never ever looked that good. And for the first time, Gizmo came out happy, not apprehensive, head up, not hanging down. I know she treated him good and he liked Betty as well. He will always go there because he now feels comfortable and I like the way Betty knows every mark on the my best friend and gave me advice on nutrition and recommended other services. This place is great with our Chihuahua. Our dog has always been groomed at home and recently we tried another place however they didn't take my dog because they don't have pet skills to deal with weary newcomers. When we called Healthy Paws and explained our issue they assured us that wouldn't be a problem. Sure enough they had my dog warm up to the staff and a few hours later our dog was groomed and we are recurring customers now. read more

i come here for raw dog food. for whatever reason, i frequently run out of food on a monday and, of course, they're not open. there is no ambient noise here and it is quite dead silent. i try to get in and out as fast as possible. price for food is more than i spend at another small business much farther south, close to where i work. the type of food i buy is kept very low stocked. sometimes i buy the only one available. the smell problem seems to be more controled than previously, according to some earlier reviews. they have many cats here so i'm sure its hard to manage. read more

My dogs aren't fans of bath time (to put it mildly), but Dawn is excellent with them! Kilo gets a simple bath and Bugsy gets the full grooming with a haircut. He always leaves looking spiffy and they both smell great for weeks after. I searched everywhere for specialty foods for my dogs, who have bad food allergies. I finally found a location that was not super far that carried Nutrisca (grain-free/potato-free). Dawn was extremely helpful and educated me on the different types of ingredients that could be causing my dogs' food allergies to get worse. She provided me with more information than my vet did. She even gave me information on how to earn a free bag of dog food. Thankfully, I found a food (Nutrisca Lamb Meal & Chick Pea) that my dogs actually enjoy and one that alleviates their food allergy symptoms. Most importantly, Healthy Paws' employees are very knowledgable, kind (offer to carry the dog food bags to my car), and are true animal lovers. I highly recommend them to any pet owner. read more

This store is a 'hidden gem'. I have known Dawn and her staff for many years now, and they REALLY CARE about their customers pets, especially about the food their pets eat! If you buy your pet food at a supermarket or even at a pet specialty store, chances are you are buying food that is not good for them. Dawn knows her pet food! My husband and I adopted 2 kittens from this place around Feb 2012. The lady that owns this place said they were very healthy just a little case of ear mights, which she treated them for. When I asked her about the kittens history, she said she new the mother was a calico, but changed the subject pretty fast. She also said they were lap cats very well behaved. She really pushed the to brother kittens on us. I told her this would be my first cat and she said these 2 would be perfect. Well when we got them home one is UN-trainable and they both have a viral infection, one is bleeding from his gums along with other problems. The Vet informed my husband that they were most likely Farrel Cats and caught it living in the streets. I do not want this to keep a kitten or cat from getting a good home, I am saying please have the kitten/cat checked out by a vet before you take it home from this place. We are broken heated that we may have to give them up, because we have started to love them both even though it's been hard living with them. read more
