Gary might be the actual dog whisperer. I took my 14 year old terrier spaniel in for nail trimming and gland expression. She walked in shaking but once Gary picked her up she was fine. Usually I hear her wailing from the other room when she gets her glands done but she was perfectly fine! The staff is very nice and it's super clean inside. I recently had to take my little guy on his last car ride to the rainbow bridge , he was 16 yrs old and his health was failing. I recently passed by the store and realized I should write a review. We'd make our way from Glendale for a quick nail trim and his treats. It isn't that far, but for an old nervous dog it wasn't a quick ride. The reason I brought him specifically here to Cats & Dogs was their crew of employees and Gary. Everyone was friendly and caring, they greeted my old guy like an old friend. I'd put a muzzle on Rocky for safety purposes, he's a nervous dog (no teeth) but would snap if you got too close. I highly recommend for all your grooming and pet supply needs! My cat, Willow, is a rag-doll which means a lot of fur. This can be difficult in the summer because of heat and fleas, so I get her the lion's cut to help the best I can. She has trauma from past groomers which made me super anxious about trying someplace new. Gary and Dino were the absolute best! It honestly couldn't have gone better. DO NOT GO HERE!!! They basically just TORTURED my dog for two and half hours. Brought my dog to Cats & Dogs for a standard wash/groom appointment, which I've done many times before. Didn't hear from them in over 2 hours so I swung back by thinking that he was surely close to being done. They hadn't done a single thing yet...they just had him sitting in a tiny cage for over 2.5 hours, which he absolutely hates and severely stresses him out. We promptly left and he's been shaking ever since. If you love your pets, avoid at all costs. read more

Betty and I stopped by one day on our neighborhood walk to check out Cats & Dogs. Good to know what the local shops carry. Shop local and suppose small businesses. They are located at Hyperion and Rowena next to Pinkberry, across from the reservoir. Betty received some treats which of course she didn't say no to. A few weeks later when Betty chose direction she walked us from Riverside and LFB straight to Cats & Dogs! Haha! Which of course she then received more delicious treats. She even did a double high five. Everyone who works here has been super sweet to my girl. Which of course means a lot to me. The store is clean and well stocked. While the pricing may be enticing, the actual work truly varies. I've brought my cat here multiple times for grooming services and the groomers here clearly do not understand how to work with fluffy fur.l they also don't seem to listen to the customer's request. On one occasion they didn't even bother to trim the hair on her paws when that was the only thing we had asked for. The next time they gave her some ridiculous lion cut when we clearly specified it wasn't what we wanted when they mentioned it. This last time they completely buzzed all of her fur off. We asked for a trim not a full buzz cut. We were very specific about just wanting to take some fur off and they completely disregarded. At this point the price does not justify the poor customer service, experience, and guest satisfaction. Very truly disappointed as I enjoyed supporting a small business. Unfortunately I will never be coming back here and if you are considering bringing a fluffy dog or cat here please read similar reviews regarding fluffy fur. read more

I have an older, fussier cat whose nails are difficult for me to trim now. Even the groomers at Cats and Dogs struggled with Maddy at first because of how agitated she gets. Garry, the owner, suspected she might respond better in a quieter environment and has started trimming her nails personally back in his office. I've even been able to text him directly so he can prepare everything. He truly went out of his way to help when he could've easily said Maddy was too uncooperative to work with and sent us on our way. Highly recommended. read more

Took our terrier mix here for a trim a couple weeks ago. Picked him up and didn't notice until we got home how uneven they trimmed his tail. It's been a a couple weeks since and it's become apparent how uneven the cut is everywhere else, especially around his face/snout. We've taken him several places, looking for the right groomer ever since our mobile groomer moved out of the area, and this is easily the worst cut he's had. * BEWARE FLUFFY DOG OWNERS* I'm am so utterly disappointed with this place. I took my dog for a grooming and the FIRST thing told to the groomer was I like my dog fluffy. When I picked him up he was COMPLETELY SHAVED! I understand that he did have mats on his leg area but that gave no justification to shave him completely. He had no mats on his body, and we were able to run our fingers through his fur with no trouble. And to add insult to injury is that his shave isn't even, his fur is now completly differnt lengths throughtout. When booking my appointment I was given an estimated price of 70/75 dollars seeing that he's a small puppy but after the services I ended up paying a 110. It's just sad that I paid that amount for a botched grooming. The only reason for the 2 star review is that everyone I interacted with was friendly. But that doesn't change that fact that my dog came out looking terrible and I left feeling sad and violated for trusting them with him. read more

We have a Great Pyrenees mix. We specifically told the groomer, "we love her shaggy coat. Just want a trim. We've had groomers in the past who have buzzed her hair off, and want to avoid that". We come to pick her up and her shaggy coat was completely gone. After I talked to the groomer, she mentioned she had moved forward with shearing her bc her hair was too thick. I don't understand why a call was not had with us before moving forward with completely removing her coat, after we specifically asked her not to. Even after, she said if we wanted a trim, we should just use scissors ourselves. What am I paying her for? Other than the groomer, the staff are super nice.
