We were in dire need to have someone help my wife and I out with our newborn baby with breastfeeding, and I could not have asked for anyone better than Sherley. She was a combination of humility, patience, and subject matter expert in her craft. My wife's pain before she came was an 8 and when she left the pain went down from a 4 which made a huge difference in helping my wife continue to breastfeed. I reached out to Sherley when I was on the verge of giving up on breastfeeding my baby at 3 weeks due to pain and discomfort associated with latching. She contacted me the same day and gave me some tips until she was able to come for a home visit. Sherley is simply the best. I was in dire need of help as I am a first time mom and was returning to work after three months. I felt so overwhelmed because I had so many questions about pumping at work and there is so many different answers on the internet. Sherley did a weighted feed on my little one and answered all my questions and helped me set up a pumping routine for work and made sure I was using the correct flange size! I was first time mom when i contacted sherley, to start with i delivered in Texas medical center and had amazing experience with the whole hospital stay for delivery only to realize after coming home that i have to wean my baby of nipple shield provided at hospital after reading about it online. I had at least 2 lactation consultants visiting me daily basis who did not even remark on it. I never had flat nipples or any indication for nipple shield to start with and the nurse in recovery room post cesarean section just handed it to me to use it right away. Now " i'm at home, new born is day 7 and i'm not sure what to do ". I searched online for LLC certified consultant near my place and found Sherley and It was the best thing i have done to myself and my baby at that point. She was very prompt in her response, called me to discuss my issues right away and also explained about most of insurance not covering lactation visits and verify { that shows she really cares for her client in all aspects} once i finalized her visit the same day, she understood my anxiety and without any push from my side she took time of her schedule and visited me the same evening around 6 pm. She is very confident , cheerful and makes you relaxed and tries to under stand all our concerns before starting her session. Never seemed rushed in whole session. She was utterly patient with my anxiety . She also educated my husband up on my approval about the technique for him to supervise me if I have any trouble because i was super anxious. My baby was able to latch on to me without nipple shield right away. Also had issue with sore nipples from shield and pumping, once she taught me the technique pain seemed much better and i got confident that i could do it. Baby was gaining weight in 2nd week but not up to the mark { although she was totally healthy} so i called Sherley again for follow up visit , she again accomodated appointment the same day and was patiently observing me through out and educated me about few changes, gave me more information with lot of reassurance . I never had to look back after that in terms of breast feeding, baby put on approx 1.5 - 2 oz daily basis, no latch issues, no more nipple soreness { which means a lot} . Although i always wanted to breast feed baby from beginning , to me it almost seemed impossible before consulting with sherley , i almost was on verge of giving up and sherley made it possible. The comfort I and my baby share today during breast feeding cant be replaced with anything and i can only thank Sherley again and again for making it happen when so many lactation consultants at this so called awesome hospital in texas medical center failed. I highly recommend her for anyone who are determined to breast feed and runs in to trouble { any kind} , she can turn it around and make it the best experience. I was referred to Shirley by my son's pediatrician. My son is my just shy of 7 months and is my second breastfed baby. I had only had minor challenges with my oldest and was originally doing well with my youngest. However, at six months when I attempted repeatedly to introduce him to solid foods, he rejected them every single time, and seemingly more forcefully with each new food. That was further complicated by learning that he was actually declining in his weight percentile and was now off his weight growth curve. Shirley was extremely professional and supportive during our first call. She helped me to calm down enough to better explain my situation (I was pretty upset when we first spoke) and she asked questions that I never would have even considered! This review is 4 months overdue. We were having issues with latching after we came home from the hospital. Sherley agreed to visit with us on a short notice. I can say that she was one of the key resources in securing my milk supply in spite of latching issues. My little one had a tongue tie which she was able to diagnose and unfortunately latching did not happen for us after all which is all the more reason why Sherley's intervention was so helpful. She showed me how to use a pump, created a schedule for me as I continued to try to nurse. I am 4 months pp and producing around 40 opd. My perfect plan of nursing did not work out however my little bug is still getting breastmilk and is growing well. One of the key things I liked about Sherley (I have seen 4-6 different consultants) is that she was there to support me in whatever I chose to do. No judgment. Sherly helped me and my husband so much with just 1 visit! She was so patient and thorough. I contacted her for help with latching and building supply for my baby. As new parents we were overwhelmed. I had been struggling with breastfeeding my newborn daughter for roughly three weeks when I decided to look for a lactation consultant. I sent her a message through yelp and she responded very promptly and we set up a time to meet the same day. Due to the current situation requiring social distancing, we set up a virtual meeting. I found Sherley through the  International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) website. She gave me a free phone consultation and kept in touch to see how everything was going. Later on I actually needed an at-home consultation to check the latch and low milk supply so she showed me hands on how to latch my baby more efficiently. Before meeting Sherley I was using a nipple shield to feed the baby almost every time and a nipple shell occasionally afterwards for sore nipples. By the time she left I didn't need them and I still haven't used either one ever since. She also showed me how to pump more effectively in order to increase milk production. Being a mommy isn't easy and well, that includes breastfeeding. After the third day of having trouble latching my newborn (3 days old) I woke up and googled lactation consultants in my area. I came across Sherley's website and I'm glad I did! She could hear the desperation in my voice and though she was booked and unfortunately couldn't come - she sent over her coworker Deepa. She saved our breastfeeding in the 11th hour... This review is long over due. 7 months to be exact. When my daughter was born I quickly gained sharp pains breastfeeding and my nipples were very sore. I could not put her to breast by day 3. On day 3 my milk came in and was very very painful. It was a Friday night and no one would come to see us until the following week. I could not wait that long. My nipples were bleeding, I was heavily engorged and my baby was getting supplemented formula (which I hated). We finally found Sherley's contact and late Friday night she agreed to come Saturday as soon as possible. She was wonderful. She carefully examined my daughter and I. She discovered my daughter had a tongue tie and told us to fix it asap. She also taught us how to breastfeed, latch, bottle feed, hold and calm her. Our pediatrician subsequently tried to disagree with the tongue tie correction but I knew she was wrong. We went to TX ENT, whom agreed it was bad, and they fixed it. We had Sherley over a couple times after that. She helped us with a feeding schedule, burping and other healthy feeding techniques. She is very informative and easy to talk to. Easy to schedule with as well. Today, I have a 7 month old who loves to breastfeed before and after I come home from work, I pump and give her breastmilk during the day. Since maternity leave I have kept over 200 ounces of breastmilk in my freezer and use that for business travels and sick days. We plan to keep breastfeeding as long as baby shows interest, no plans of stopping. This is a great love for us and we could not have all of this if not for Sherley. God bless her. read more

Shirley was an amazing find for us. Our son was not feeding well, made only one wet diaper in a day and lost 17% of his birth weight in first two days. We thought he was feeding ok and slept but did not know that he was too weak to suck. We searched for a lactation consultant and found Shirley. Shirley assessed the situation and said 17% loss is way too much. At first, we had our doubts because our paediatrician did not say anything special just asked to keep nursing him. But Shirley was concerned and recommended syringe feeding after breast feeding and helped with feeding positions. She was very courteous and mindful at home. You can find her knowledgeable in what she is doing in minutes. She was more concerned about our son than us, followed up about his health through calls and texts, stressed enough to make us take it very seriously. It was a very tiring first two weeks but we did triple feeding (breastfeed, pump, syringe feed) and he started doing better. Also, Shirley found and educated us about tongue tie and lip tie which our paediatrician never mentioned about. When asked, our paediatrician said the baby will grow out of it. But Shirley insisted we get it checked with Dr. James Liu. We went against our doctor's word and believed in Shirley. And she was right. After tongue tie and lip tie revision, our son is feeding a lot better now and gained weight. We consulted Shirley three times, 2 times for breastfeeding, and 1 time after a week of tongue tie and lip tie revision. Every time, she heard our concerns and answered all our questions patiently. She replied to our texts even at late nights. She texted enquiring about our son's health like she was family. We appreciate all that you have done, Shirley. Thank you so much. Sherley came out to our house on short notice despite her busy schedule to help out my wife who was in severe pain during breastfeeding. She was professional, caring, thorough, and most importantly, helped us with immediate results in reducing the pain (from a 9-10 to a 3-4!)
