It was time for adjustments to my 15 year old Oticon Agile Pro hearing aids especially since I ruptured my left ear drum in March due to an infection. In the hearing aid arena functioning 15 year old aids are not that common I'm told. So the problem is finding an outfit that has the ribbon cables to connect to the computer to make adjustments. The place prior to this had no idea what they were doing and finally after coming in a 2nd time figured it out. This time I wanted to make sure they knew what they were doing and had the tools to do it. After calling multiple places in the bay area I finally found one who said they could do it. I questioned them repeatedly regarding this because I didn't want another waste of time like in the past. HearingLife delivered. Not only was the hearing test the most extensive I have ever had but the programming the aids was quick and efficient. Granted aids this old did require a call to Oticon which was resolved fast. After hooking them up the program makes the changes. I asked about other tweaks but at this point my hearing is so bad I'm at the end of what theses aids can do. I opted for the 1 year service plan which covers visits, cleanings, 12 month supply of batteries, domestic and wax guards. Since my bill was $370 for this visit it wasn't a huge leap to go for the service plan at $425. I thought about doing the 3 year plan but I really dont think these aids will serve me well after another year. I noticed some of the reviewers had issues with this place and believe those represent earlier individuals. Overall, the staff was great. Making an appointment from start to finish was via text, kids these days. In the room where aids are actually programed Ella had a full inventory of wires, domes, guards, etc at her disposal which was impressive given past experiences elsewhere where practitioners had little inventory and had no idea what they had or where it was. Overall, Ella did a great job on my test and programming and explaining my hearing issues and would recommend her to anyone. read more

I went to the business and I read the note on the window, it says to make an appointment please call the number below, so I did and I left a message stating that I was unaware of making an appointment and that I was parked out front. I knew she was busy because of the two parked cars out front. I waited till they were gone. I waited for over 1/2 an hour, well by that time I needed to use the bathroom, so I left. Since the time that I left till the time she called me back 2 hours went by. Image me waiting outside for two hours. I just wanted them to check my hearing aid. I've see Dr. Susanna Storm there, and she is utterly FANTASTIC! She's young, energetic and passionate about providing the best possible care for her patients. She's also up-to-date on the technology definitely hip yet she always makes me feel totally comfortable (and I'm definitely NOT young) She spent time making sure she understood my situation (complicated) and then came up with a solution that's been fabulous. Being able to hear again has been a real gift! The entire staff is really great. Beatriz and the rest are professional but not at all stuffy. I've seen them interact with many other patients and they are alway so nice. I have recommended Whisper to others and would encourage you to check them out if you need help with your hearing. Is it possible to have the sort of rapport with an audiologist that you have with a primary care physician? Miraculously, that's what I found at Whisper. The key difference, compared to run-of-the-mill hearing aid dispensers, is that the professional staff have doctorates in audiology. They understand hearing and hearing loss though and through. This helped enormously with choosing the right hearing aid and with programming it to suit my particular hearing loss and even my particular lifestyle. Oh, and they're friendly and supportive. After a few moments I was comfortable enough to discuss not only what I wasn't hearing but also how bad it made me feel--which they offered valuable advice to deal with. In NJ. My wife and I went there because they offered a oven toaster which I could use. We both went through their exam but I never got specifically what they offered. I have been going to Whisper since 2008 and see Audiologist, Dr. Storm but have also seen Dr. Jennings. Having had a hearing loss for a long time, I know that it takes time to get used to new hearing devices. Dr. Storm examined my hearing and precisely mapped the sound to my loss. These are very nice people. But they are not doctors! They only need a GED and 6 months of training to work there. I was sold hearing aids that will never work for me at a price of 5,000 plus interest. HearingLife informed me that I needed different hearing aids about 25 days before my warranty was to expire. I was told that I would have to pay for the new hearing aids. I have never been able to hear with the hearing aids that HearingLife sold me. I went to a Doctor in Tacoma and was told that I should have never been sold the hearing aids that HearingLife sold me. Long story short I'm out about 13 thousand dollars within 3 years because I was sold the wrong hearing aids at HearingLife in Olympia. I am 84 years old and live on a very limited income so this really hurt me read more

I did not want to admit I needed hearing aids...and I did not want to wade into researching what I'd heard was the horrible, never-get-it-right, take-advantage industry of hearing centers. I was lucky enough to be lead to Dr. Storm and her colleagues partly through Yelp, so I am adding my comments in hopes it helps someone else in need/denial. First off, Dr. Storm is the most patient, kind, confident, up-beat burst of personality you will ever meet. You will immediately feel cared for and cared about as she listens intently and her patient care, interaction and interest is genuine. You will get unfailing determination and unlimited trials to fit the right equipment to your loss as well as comfort. That is all backed up with lifetime support visits to ensure the equipment is property cleaned and functional. The entire team at Whisper was obviously hand-picked to provide the support and patient care that is afforded each person coming through the door...thanks also to Beatrix and Dr. Gregoire for their part in my success. If there were anything I could wish for, it would be that Dr. Storm become an MD so that I could see her for all-over care! read more

Buying hearing aids can be an extremely frustrating experience. Considering so many options out there, at least it was for me, That is until I met Dr. Susanna Storm at the Whisper Hearing Center on 30th Street. Dr. Storm is a a Board Certified Audiologist. I was referred to her by my internist who professionally knows Dr. Storm and has met with her on several occasions. Before my appointment, I had visited several other hearing aid dispensers, including Costco, with mixed results. They all have their pros and cons. If price is your primary concern, perhaps you should look elsewhere. There are other alternatives. Before I even met Dr. Storm, Whisper Hearing's office administrator had me fill out a questionnaire designed to help them evaluate my needs as a patient. Price, while important, was not my primary concern. Service and attention to detail was. I was very impressed by the service rendered by everyone at the Whisper Hearing Center office. Dr. Storm gave me a thorough, professional examination, not simply a cookie cutter hearing test. Instead of immediately recommending various products that she felt might work, Dr. Storm, based on the results of her examination, suggested that I first see an ENT to determine whether my loss of hearing was age related, or if my condition had medical implications. She is extremely thorough! After seeing an ENT and determining the cause of my hearing loss, based on the recommendation of Dr. Storm, I selected the Oticon Alta model and have been exceptionally pleased with the results. No hearing aid is 100% perfect, and Oticon Alta is no exception. We're still in the process of fine tuning the instrument, which can take several weeks and frequently needs to be adjusted over the years as an individual's hearing loss intensifies. What I like about Dr. Storm is she is not just there to sell you a device which will improve your hearing. She's there to ensure that 2-3 years down the road, your settings are at the right level as well as make whatever adjustments are necessary over the life of the product. Like eyeglasses, where every several years or so, your prescription needs to be updated, hearing aids are no different. But, to do so, you should be seen on a regular basis by a competent audiologist who is professionally trained to deliver the best personalized results for each patient in their care. Seldom will you find service and followup from a business that I received at Wisper. I had to assist a little 'ol lady friend of mine with getting her broken hearing aid repaired. It was originally purchased at Wisper. Dr. Storm was so knowlegible and patient in explaining the problems. Also, I can;t say enough about the young woman receptionist (I appologize for not jotting her name down...she is the regular assistant/receptionist.) The way she worked with the few clients I observed while there.....she was so patient and understanding. Wisper offers service that American business has gotten away from in recent years. HearingLife is formally known as Avada. The people were very nice every time I go in. unfortunately, I was sold hearing aids for 5,000 plus interest that have never worked for me. When I first got them they didn't fit right and one fell out and broke I didn't even know I was missing it because my hearing was so poor with the new hearing aids. I went back in and they gave me a new pair, unfortunately, they have never worked for me either. They squeal all the time, they tried to adjust them but for my hearing problem, these hearing aids have to be turned up so high for me to hear that they can not get rid of the squeal. I was told on my last visit that I chose the wrong pair of hearing aids. I depended and trusted these people to help me hear better, On my last visit I was told that the price of the hearing aids has gone up to 7,000 dollars. My first pair are only 3 years old, I'm 84 years old and live on a very limited income and can not afford a new pair. read more

I had such a great experience with this audiologist office! The office manager, Beatriz, and the audiologist, Jennifer Malkovich Au.D., were both fantastic! They were very helpful, professional and reliable which can be rare in the general medical office community. Since moving here, I've visited a number of Bay Area audiologists. This place is the best, in my opinion. I have received very professional and extremely helpful service from their audiologists. What I most appreciate is that the audiologists have a highly sophisticated understanding of both hearing aids and hearing loss, much more so than other places I've been - they really, really know their stuff. Every time I've visited, they helped me deal with problems that went well beyond whatever it was that we were "scheduled" to deal with, and they often spend considerable extra time with me.
