I came in and again everything went smoothly. But then communication stopped entirely. No one called about the results of the second sleep study. There was no prescription ever written for the CPAP or any other device. I tried calling but no one ever returned my calls. It's been almost a year since my sleep study and I still don't have answers.

I call, get informed of this, and tell them I will drive out there on my lunch to pick up the prescription paperwork. I am told that another doctor in the practice, as a "courtesy", will sign off on it for it this one time for me. I should HOPE this doesn't happen again. And the attitude was as if the inconvenience and mismanagement of the situation was done by me. Thanks for the favor, folks. No...the experience with a medical office is too important for this kind of circus act. Moving on.

They ordered clap (supposedly) no Communication for over a month- clap company calls - says I don't have insurance (I give them all necessary insurance information they already had) more time lapse, they don't know how to work with insurance. I call my Internist he somehow get equipment ordered from better c-pap company who contacts me and I pick up equipment. turns out the settings this sleep doctor orders is maxed out and I can't possibly tolerate it NOW I have to use machine according to my insurance guidelines (or else) but I cannot and I still cannot communicate with the sleep doctor. IT has been more than 5 months and still no help in this matter ( there's a lot more to this story.

I took my time and wrote out a note. All though I do NOT recommend this place for post surgical needs, I will say that the ladies were nice. I just wish the place was more suited for post surgical needs. A service you are paying for and you are trusting to take care of you is what you should receive and I honestly just was very disappointed with the Texas Recovery House Suites located in Austin, Texas. The manager Alexis was super informative of the process of how things worked which eased my mind and helped me with the pre-op anxiety I was having. The driver Kim is so sweet and helped me with my luggage moment she saw me. She's very nice. The transportation vehicle smelled so good when I entered it and they have a bed in the back to help you lay down after your surgery. The other friendly face, Eryn, is AMAZING. She cooks for all of us, checks up on everyone and makes sure they do what they're supposed to do to feel better. Eryn and Nova are also exceptional and wow do I feel catered to! They have wifi so I was able to be on my laptop to kill time, and have access to Netflix and Hulu on the TV so I got to binge watch my favorite shows. I booked a private suite and made myself at home. I recommend bringing your own favorite blanket and maybe a small 1-2 pillows to help you acclimate to your new "home" for the days to come. I also brought my own pillow sheet because it helps with my curly hair so just a thought for those who are light sleepers like I am. The mattresses have like a clear wrap on them most likely to prevent any stains from drainage etc, so it will feel pretty weird to just lay on top of the sheet and feel the plastic underneath that. I brought a king size faux mink blanket; folded it hot dog style and laid it down as my sheet and the plastic feeling was gone, so yes bring your favorite pillow and blanket so you can settle in. The massage therapists are licensed and come daily in the morning. My room had a nice closet and bed frame with nooks in it so I could store all my meds vitamins socks etc. They provided me with a small plastic caddy too so I used that to put all my bathroom necessities in it to make my bathroom trips simple and don't have to worry about leaving things behind. Overall happy with my stay. Really relieved I picked out a good recovery home. There's also a snack area and fridge where you can grab Gatorade's, chips, snack bars, fruits, anytime you like. They keep the house pretty cold for sanitary reasons but they provide you with a comfy robe to make your life easier after surgery and to stay warm. It's hard for girls to leave reviews when they are in this amount of pain so while many don't leave reviews unless something didn't go great for them I can truly say any negative feedback that previous people left had me concerned but I can see the feedback was noted and accounted for because my stay is going amazing. Also each room has its own personal Window AC so I love that so I can adjust the temperature how I see fit for my own space. I prefer it to be much warmer. If you're coming from out of town I highly recommend this place. Will try to update with more pictures if I am up for it during my healing journey however as of now everything is GREAT. Update: Today I met Sam and she has been such a help. Between massages and helping me get undressed and dressed for the shower she has made my life easier. I also met Francis and she's so sweet. She made the best blueberry pancakes ever and they both made me my arnica teas to help me heal. My healing journey is going great and little by little I don't need as much assistance. My mom was struggling physically/mentally and would just moan. One caregiver told her to be quiet multiple times. Another one refused to help because she had asked for too much help. One was busy on her phone and didn't bother to put my mom to bed so my mom fell asleep on her recliner. I tried to talk to the person assigned to me for staffing and she didn't answer texts/calls. I cancelled with her because the people that they were sending were so bad, that it was better to have no one. I got no answer till after the weekend and I was told that I needed to give more notice. I explained that I tried to give notice, but that person wasn't answering their phone. They sent one last person out that they claimed was their best and no one had every complained. After that person got my mom to sleep, she turned tv to the station she wanted (in room next to my mom) and then started calling friends on the phone and talking loudly over the tv. Find your own caregivers. Staffing agencies send people that couldn't get jobs on their own.

When Dr. Alan Silberberg walked into the consultation room, shook my hand, sat down and opened with, "I've studied your MRI images carefully, and you're in a real pickle here, buddy," I knew I'd met my doctor. He radiates intelligence the way my Dad did, and he's extremely blunt and direct and doesn't sugarcoat the facts--all the elements I need in a doctor for me to feel confident I'm in good hands. We've taken the approach of doing spinal epidurals (the same treatment that was very effective for me with the original injury), and I had my first session this week. I was face down on an operating table, so I can't visually describe what was done, but I can say that the needles weren't artlessly jammed into my lower back, they were slowly finessed into the damaged areas, and the steroid/pain killer mix was injected slowly and then with a more steady progression. The artful skill being utilized here was quite noticeable and greatly appreciated, and it clearly minimized the application pain (I chose no sedation). This doctor's impressive online CV most definitely matches his performance. Dr. Silberberg is surrounded by a top-notch staff of clinical professionals and front end office people, mostly an all-female crew. I've encountered nothing but friendly and polite helpfulness from everybody, both on the phone and in person. If they can maintain their level of excellence, friendliness and efficiency across the board, then I hope they corner the market here in Central Texas. My Dad often said, "The cream always rises to the top." Dr. Alan Silberberg and his crew have proven this to me. If you're a self-paying client like I am, this is the Go-To Team for you. They treat me great, and they've impressed me beyond words. I got lucky the day I found them.

We decided to add on another week to make sure we were in good shape for our upcoming vacation, and she was so invested in us it was amazing. She did everything she could to coach us and help us reach our goals with the tight timeline. (we leave this weekend, fingers crossed!) The time she spent with us was above and beyond, and I can say it's such a great value and investment, especially since we worked with someone else prior. The operator explained there is a known problem with the phone system but nobody wants to fix it. Anytime a call comes in for a different doctor, all of their calls a placed higher in the "q'. I can be on hold and my position will go from 6 to 4 to 2 then back to 4 or 6 back to 1. Crazy!
