rip off/ rude staff went to grey matter show, they said it was $15 at the door. i had card so i did card to pay the fee tell me why the pulled out $18 from my bank account. on top of that falsely banned my friend from going around there because a bartender (Jonathan) that works there came up to my friend and threatened my friend to kick him out for enjoying the show, when he is the one coming up to my friend and threatening him. next thing i know is my friend is gone behind me and with this random man telling him he cant come there again because some employee said that there was a glass next to my friend and it made them feel "uncomfortable" when it was my empty glass next to him that i put there because my partner said it was alright to place there because servers were supposed to pick up the glass and discard them and also people were leaving there glass's on there as-well too. anyways found my friend with this random man that escorted my friend out while I wanted to know what he was doing escorting my friend out and that man wanted me to get out of there talk that was between him and my friend which i know what was already going on already. after that, that random dude banned my friend unlawfully and told me and my partner "we can go back in and enjoy the show" like LMAOOO like a big fuck you, no thank you after falsely banning my friend for enjoying a show and that bartender jonathan coming up to him and threating to kick him out. after that not going back to that place, don't recommend if you don't want to get ripped off or have a weird bartender threating you to kick you out. read more

Fairly small space but full of character. As soon as you come in you can feel the HEAT! Some cool contests for dancing even dad bod get a chance! And believe me some great dad bod may even win. The music is engaging and you won't stop dancing. I absolutely had a blast here and if I have the chance I wanna come back. As far as parking the neighborhood parking lot is pretty cheap do you may drive here and Wil have no issues to find some free or cheap parking. The drinks were great and the prices were not too bad. The down side is the 5 dollar cover charge but once you are in this ola e is so fun that you will forget bout the cover I a heart beat. This was a great time and I will come back for sure. read more

The place for drag shows in San Antonio! Heat has everything you could want in a bar: 1. Cheap cover (if you're 21+) 2. Live shows (including performances from RuPaul's Drag Race queens) 3. Air conditioning that actually gets the job done (important and rare to come by) 4. Cheap drinks with almost nightly drink specials ($10 minimum on credit card) 5. A PARKING LOT!!! What brings me to the Heat every month are the shows put on by Rey Lopez Entertainment. The RLE showgirls are a great time, along with the headlining RuPaul's Drag Race girls. The cover is $10 for 21+ and $25 for 18+ (cash only) on these Wednesdays of the month. Check the Rey Lopez Entertainment Instagram and Facebook or the Heat website for upcoming shows! A great part about Heat is its stage. The drag performers have plenty of room to work it and it is easy to find a spot to see. Think about how the times you've attended a live show and a crappy view messed with all of your good vibes. While it can get crowded when more popular queens come (in my case, Katya Zamolodchikova and Valentina), you can always arrive a little earlier to secure a spot or scoot yourself closer when people go to the bar to grab drinks during the 20 minute break between shows. So I went to Heat on a weekday so it wasn't as crowded as I know it can be. On the weekend every time I drive by the place is packed. The bar itself is huge! I walked in to the main room and had to walk around a couple of times to find my friends. In total there are three rooms. This isn't counting the hidden patio in the back. There is one pool table which I find absolutely hilarious because it's located in the room where two half naked men are dancing. The drinks are relatively cheap but be warned that they do have a credit card minimum of $10. Also, if you want to order water it'll cost you $3 for a bottle water. No tap water like other bars. The music is great and the shows are awesome. When I walked in there was a drag show going on. I have to say it was pretty awesome walking in to see a queen dancing and lip sinking to "umbrella" by Rhianna. Heat is a really clean bar with lots of fun stuff going on all the time. You will normally see these events go 30 minutes at a time at each bar making them the cheapest drinks in SA. The wells are .75 and doubles being $1.50. To say that I was impressed with Heat would be a drastic understatement, and a disservice to the owners and staff. I was blown away by Heat. At this point in the evening, I had been to Pegasus and the Saint, both of which left a bad taste in my mouth and were on the way to confirming the Austinite snob viewpoint that everything from San Antonio is trashy. Then came Heat. First impression was that this bar was clearly newer, and clearly attempting to attract a more upscale crowd than the Saint or Pegasus. Thank the gods. So we paid the $5 cover we were now used to (though still annoyed by), and entered. The first section of the bar is dimly lit with a decent dance floor, a pair of backlight hunks dancing in thongs, and a few upscale seating areas. A bar lines the back - in all, a nice upscale dance club. After a few minutes, we started looking for a patio. While we had decided to spend the remainder of the night in the only NOT trashy bar we'd found so far, the music was a bit loud for us 30-somethings (and token 22 year old), so we walked through the unassuming back door (by the dancers) we'd seen people traveling through. Lo and behold, we found an entirely different bar! For those of you from Houston, this section will remind you a bit of Meteor, only better lit. Frankly, it reminds me more of J.R.'s in Dallas (post-renovation) - a nicely lit, clean, well kept bar with some video screens, a pool table, and several bars and seating areas. I was HAPPY at this point; the music was good (there was a DJ spinning for this section like there was for the front), and I could see. It seemed like a pleasant place to spend time, but being the intrepid, fearless explorer that I am, I moved on to the patio. And yet again, WOW. While not the size of S4, a nice, multi-level patio with an outside bar provided a pleasant location for conversation, snoggery, and other less loud occupations. Lots of trees and decoration kept it from becoming a sterile field of boards, and the terracing made for an interesting landscape that gave character to the outside. I met some great people, had a great time, and even saw a few hot boys. Not as many as I'm accustomed to in Austin, but at least I know they exist in San Antonio now. I'll definitely be returning here on my next trip to the south, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for quality clubbing in San Antonio. read more

The Heat is always a fun time. It's like the Cheers of gay bars, where you will always run into a friend that knows your name. There's the oontz oontz oontz pounding dance club rooms with the gyrating g-string muscle dancers. There's the video bar room, still with charismatic and intense dancing, but a slightly more laid-back vibe. There's the patio, with everyone chilling and enjoying the tunes and the night air. Whatever's your flavor, the Heat has a space for you. Where everybody knows your name. And they're always glad you came. I may be biased since this has been my dance club of choice for over a decade, and I've seen changes and improvements, but at the end of the night, this is always a space where I know I can bring anyone and they'll feel loved and amazing. read more

When heading down to the Gay strip on a Friday or Saturday night I always put Heat into my stop. Usually, this is the place that I end up stay at because I like how clean the place is compared to many of the other gay bars in town. I have to give a shout out to my girl Vikki who is my FAVORITE bar town in SA. She always knows my drink and will have it ready for me when I get there. LOVE HER and highly recommend going to her. The video bar/lounge area is my favorite area to stay because I prefer the music there then hearing the techno in the main dance floor but both areas have space to dance the night away and just let loose. If you want to take a break from all the "heat" (HA HA) then you can venture to the patio area where there is a lot of room plus an area to where minors are not aloud to be. I do recommend if you are looking for a gay club to go to that this is the place but know that this club is friendly to all walks of life! read more

I generally find gay clubs to have nice fun and happy going people inside them. I was charged 12.00 for a shiner bock....why?.... I am not into dancing that much, but it seemed like the dj was talking for 3-4 minutes between each song. And this was throughout the night. LOVING this place. Absolutely loving it! Again, another club my friends and I hit up after we left The Saint. Big dance floor - plenty of room to dance and shake ya tail feather! VIP was ON in this room - it's raised a little bit above the rest of the area so my friends and I got to see everything! There was also another bar room next door to the main room (which leads you outside to the patio) and is definitely a LOT brighter and a bit smaller than the first room I just mentioned. In this room, they had a few tvs playing music videos and a few dancers on the bar. I like this spot because there are a variety of different rooms you can choose to go in. There are different dis playing different types of music. There is also a cool spot where you can sit or stand by open space so you can see all the drunkies walking on the sidewalk. It's pretty fun. The drag shows here are also pretty good. The Heat is definitely the best dance bar in San Antonio for the LGBT community. I dare say it surpasses the Bonham Exchange with its attention to great dance music and drink specials. For those with distant memories you might say that the old Wild Club has been reborn into a modern dance club for today. If you are visiting San Antonio and need a place to get your groove on pay a visit and don't forget to tip the bartenders. At least a $5 cover can be expected on the weekends. If you need a break from the main dance floor theres two additional bars in the back to visit and watch the latest in music videos. If you still need more scenery pay a visit to the outside patio which has yet another bar to it. There is also now a fantabulous VIP bottle service at only $50 (I would imagine per person but I could be wrong). This is the dance go to place at "The Strip" (the collection of gay bars on Main). The drinks are averagely priced, and the place is nice inside. There are also multiple rooms--one has a stage where they bring in bigger acts like Bianca del Rio, Courtney Act, etc.--and a few restrooms. This place gets packed on the weekends, and has some drag shows during the week. Those can be hit or miss. There is a cover, and they only accept cash, but an ATM is conveniently located by the door. (I believe if you go before 11 it is free.) It's usually packed with the younger crowd, but does get a wide mix in age range, gender and sexual orientation. (Yes, the straights are welcome to dance too). They're open until 3, stop serving at 2, and is usually where people end their night by dancing. read more

I LOVE the LGBTQ community (I'm gay lol) but there's too many drag shows when a lot of us just want to dance.
