Northfields is also a depot so beware trains can abruptly stop there. Good if you live in the area, not so good if on the way to Heathrow. There is a small shop selling newspapers, magazines, confectionery and drinks and a flower stand that has a good range of flowers, bouquets at reasonable prices. A cash machine and toilets are also available. Station was renovated a couple of years ago and has improved train displays indicating trains on the way (not necessarily how long they will be - but then again London Underground minutes are not known to be too accurate).

Not all Picadilly lines in this direction go all the way to Heathrow, let alone every terminal. I found it frustrating to then find departures from the underground. I HAD to take an elevator, or at least that is what an airport worker advised. I would have preferred stairs or escalator, but it seemed impossible and a lift was required. Still, I would make this choice in the future to get to central London or back to the airport from central London. It is affordable and fairly easy, especially if you had a small amount of luggage.

Stratford International station can easily be confused with the nearby Stratford Station, although…read moreboth are entirely different stations which are basically a short cut-through away via Westfield or one stop on the DLR. Although it doesn't have as many services or platforms as the nearby station, it does serve a useful connection onto the DLR linking east London and you can also get a Southeastern service from here into St Pancras in just 7 minutes, this could be useful for away fans travelling into London via any Euston Road train station and planning to get to the London Stadium, home of West Ham United due to the fact the station is again only a short walk away from the stadium which was pivotal to the 2012 Olympic Games. While there aren't any international services from here anymore, you can head into St Pancras to get the Eurostar where European destinations including Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam are a short journey away. It isn't too exciting of a station and it is a little confusing and even a pointless station to an extent given that it was designed to be a London stop for regional Eurostar services which never came into place, with only Southeastern serving the station now. 2*

The long walk to the bus transfer between terminals is really what brings the rating down. It's always very crowded due to the fact that it's the primary terminal for British Airways. I corrected a mistake in my previous review of Terminal 3. The Fortnum & Mason shop is actually in Terminal 5. It's so easy to confuse the two after a long flight. Anyway, this particular location even has a bar in front of it where you can sip on champagne and nibble on canapés (if that's your thing). I just love to browse through the tea & biscuit section of the shop to see what's new. Sure, there are other great shops as well as food options on this side of the airport. I just love F&M tea! The British Airways Gallerie Club and First Lounges are above it. There's also an exclusive lounge called The Concorde Room that I'd love to try one day. So, I've read that British Airways will be starting a new direct route from Tampa to Heathrow (replacing Gatwick) towards the end of this year. I hope that this means it will arrive at BA's Terminal 5 hub. If so, then I'll be super grateful for the convenience of a smooth connection. If not, then I'll just be happy to have more connection possibilities to other countries. Either way, I'm thinking this is great for OneWorld travelers booking through American Airlines out of TPA. My flight was leaving from one of the satellite Gates in terminal five, and the Heathrow staff very kindly suggested I head that way with plenty of time. The terminal is clean with lots of seating at the gate. The announcements were clear and easy to understand, and the boarding process was a breeze. As someone who lived in the UK for a couple of years, I always love transiting through Heathrow so I can stop at boots to pick up a couple of my favorite drugstore items. There's tons of shopping in terminal five as well as several dining options.

So many of the different train lines stop at Stratford Station. As others have mentioned, this station is huge! We've gotten a bit confused a couple of times during our stay. The staff have been very helpful in directing us where to go to get to our destination. For our most recent trip to London, there were quite a bit of homeless folks and litter outside the station. Never noticed any on our past trips to London. Other than that, I have no complaints about Stratford Station.
