Recently took a family trip to Phoenix/Mesa and had to get some gelato while we were there! This place popped up on the map and was well reviewed so we decided to check it out. Portions were quite generous! The "kids" size was easily a small and the small was closer to a medium. As were getting a couple of samples, the owner popped up and put fresh canoli shells in the case. Said he'd just baked them! My wife and brother-in-law decided to try the gelato filled canoli, one with tiramisu gelato, and one with cappuccino gelato. The 2 year old and confidently stated that she wanted orange but they didn't have orange so she tried the mango and strawberry flavors and ended up going with the strawberry. It was delicious and she ate most of it. I went with a cup of the peanut butter stracciatella and it was very good! read more

Sometimes it is the simplistic shops that pack the flavor and quality of product. This location is nestled in a strip mall behind Garcia's Mexican Restaurant. Gelato is something I love to indulge on occasion, and after a couple Yelper friends reviewed, I had this on my radar to try. When my friends today mentioned wanting dessert after lunch, I suggested this as it was in proximity to where we met for ramen. The owner (I presume) greeted us and so did his brother who was seated in the lobby. They boasted it was the best gelato in Arizona, and it was authentic like Italy. I was skeptical at first as a lot can talk a big game, but then you try it and it's average. Stracciatella is a classic flavor and one of my favorites, so I requested a sample. It was very creamy, but the dark chocolate helped cut the sweetness. I ordered a piccolo (small) and it was just the right size for a treat. My friends ordered behind me and I found a spot for us to sit and chat. The interior is mostly tables for two chairs, but we made a table of three. In the future, I'd probably grab to go as it's fairly small. Still a solid choice for a sweet treat and I would recommend it if you are in the area. read more

I really enjoyed the Oreo flavor. It was creamy and had a lot of Oreo chunks in it. I wish they offered a Nutella/hazelnut flavor, as that is common in Italy and at other gelato shops. The restaurant itself seemed pretty dirty and disorganized, which was a turn off and surprising to see. They should clean it. Overall, it was good gelato! read more

Disappointing gelato. The sorbets are the star of the show. Service was nice and attentive and would let you try several flavors.

Run, don't walk, to one of the yummiest gelato spots I've ever been to! Heaven on a Spoon is literally JUST that. The flavors are delightful and concentrated and the fruit ones taste like actual real fruit, none of that powdered stuff. They also have a large variety of flavors, definitely something for everyone! The owner was so nice and pleasant to our group too. So if you like dessert and wanna cool off, I highly recommend going to Heaven on a Spoon to enjoy a nice refreshing cup of gelato. This place is really good, Natural flavors. They have lots of dairy free options unlike some places that have 2-3 options (or nothing at all. We ended going 3 times in a week. The reason why I had to give it 4 stars was that we came in the first time on a Sunday and noticed a tray on the counter above the gelato was dirty. We figured maybe they had pastries on it that day and had been left out. Came back 2-3 days later and the tray was surprised to see the tray was still there. Went back in the 3rd time making it 1 full week and the tray was still out. So I couldn't believe that was left out dirty for at least a week but who knows how long it has been there. read more

Who doesn't like gelato? It is so satisfying, especially since we've hit those 110 temps outside! I stopped by yesterday afternoon with my family. All the gelato flavors looked so good! They also have cannoli shells for the gelato and regular filling. I ordered a piccolo (small) of the dark chocolate, tiramizu, and pistachio. This combination was awesome and was a great combination for me. The dark chocolate was exactly the right amount of bitter and melted really well with the other two. The pistachio was also amazing, and I highly recommend that one! My husband wanted to order The Sunny (layered lemon and cheesecake with crunchy gigglits and whip cream), but they were all out of the cheesecake. Instead, he also got a piccolo of maple pecan, lemon, and pineapple. The lemon and pineapple were very zesty and refreshing! My biggest regret was not ordering cannolis to go, but there's always next time. Great spot in Mesa! read more

Gelato I believe, Tasted regular ice cream to me, but was good, nice selection for types of ice cream or gelato.. maybe mine was just ice cream idk. I got mint and chip, kids got bday cake and Oreo I tried both they were fine, bf got vanilla. It's was good for a quick fix after panda next door. The front guy was nice he let me in on the Spivey seasonings what they were for and gave us samples, they were different I've never heard of it but seems it's a specialty for some, sweet and spicy, I don't do spicy but wasnt to spicy the sweet ice cream balances it out. We stopped here on Saturday night for some Gelato. There was one employee working and he was helping out a couple before us so we waited in line for our turn. Once our turn, the employee happily let us try out as many samples as we wanted. He was very friendly and outgoing. We ended up ordering 3 small sizes and one medium size. The flavors we ordered consisted of: Sweet Cream, Oreo, Pistachio, Coconut, Strawberry, and Strawberry Banana. All the flavors were great! The gelato was creamy, flavorful, and rich. Nice place, and when we got there the best part: no line. The wife got peanut butter chocolate chip, and I got the cheesecake and horchata. All three selections were excellent and pretty decently priced. This place is just a few blocks from our house, so we'll probably be back regularly. I'm a sucker for Gelato so I gave this place a shot. I have tried many Gelatos before and I've concluded that I LOVE Gelato's that are thick and creamy. This Gelato is more on the soft and grainy texture, so I wasn't a huge fan. I do have to say that each flavor is potent and tastes exactly as described. Major props to Heaven on a Spoon for that! The person who assisted us was very welcoming, patient (with all the flavors I kept asking to taste) and kind! I won't be coming back but I do recommend you all come and try it for yourselves. I have a bunch in a Yelp collection. Atmosphere - Like most ice cream shops it is tiny, and located in a strip mall. The seating is limited. Food - I had a small cup with two flavors. Cheesecake was screaming at me to have it, then raspberry was a nice compliment to it. It was so silky smooth. If you would have put that on a bed of graham cracker crust I would have sworn it was a perfect cheesecake. I want more now!! Service - Oops we walked it at closing time. I normal avoid this. We asked the lady that was serving a super nice customer if we were good, clearly we were or there be no review. She quickly served us, I paid and reward her with a good tip. I stopped by Heaven On A Spoon over the weekend. It's right near my siblings' house, so it made for a convenient and tasty stop before dropping them off at home. Their gelato was delicious and silky and all things gelato should be, but what really impressed me was the service we received. The man who helped us was presumably the owner and he was wearing a black, red, yellow, and green beanie. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. My brother has autism, so sometimes we interact with service employees who simply do not "get it" and are short with him. The owner here was the exact opposite. He was patient and kind and answered my brother's various questions about price and the menu. He pulled out all the stops and even offered us samples. I have neck Cancer, specifically Tonsil Cancer. I have lost all taste for everything. The second I put food in my mouth, it turns into the taste of a bag full of dirty nickels. Driving home from Radiation and Chemotherapy treatment on Tuesday, May 21, 2025, I decided that I'm going to find SOMETHING that I can taste and eat so I can have a "full sensation". Across the intersection I was stopped at was Heaven on a Spoon. My daughter and I have eaten there once and I remember the glass case with all the flavors. I walked in and told a young man, maybe 20 or 21, "I have Cancer, I can't taste food and I need to find something I can eat that doesn't turn into a bag of nickels in my mouth. I want to try a sample of everything you have in this store. I WILL pay you for it, but I want to try everything." Issac did not hesitate, I was wearing my Marine Corps cover and he asked where I had served and that he WAS NOT going to charge me, but rather help me, find something I can eat and enjoy. Long story, not so short, we found two flavors that I could taste, enjoy and swallow with pleasure. I bought a quart of Dulce De Leche and Watermelon Sherbet. I did not include the tip in the computer but rather gave young Issac a proper TIP, man to man, in Cash. I don't exactly know why Issac was so kind and empathic but what a strong minded and gentle employee. Go enjoy their ice cream, if you see Issac, tell him an old Marine with Cancer says; thank you, with every scoop he enjoys. read more

This place is fantastic! I think we tried every flavor they have and we're floored. The owner came out and gave us a sample of one of his newer creations. The gelato has an great texture, feels light and is flavorful. They have frozen nachos which are really creative and I can't wait to try them! They also do these waffle shell Gelato tacos which really looks cool! The kids loved that they could put a many sprinkles on as an added treat! There were quite a few flavors I'm going to have to go back for. The gelato tacos are definitely up there. That white chocolate strawberry though. I'm not much of a strawberry ice cream person. So many times I feel like it comes out too much & tasting fake. This gelato was the perfect level of strawberry. Paired with the cheesecake it was just heaven. i had such a great experience not only with the gelato its self but the customer service was fantastic... I believe his name was issac? he closed the shop today .. he was friendly, comical, and knowledgeable about the product! I left with a smile and a big tub with 3 different flavors! Mint stracciatella, FRESHLY MADE chocolate.. he emphasized freshly made btw.. and tiramisu! I also tasted the low sugar raspberry sorbet.. it was delightful too!
