My first of what I hope will many visits was more than I could have imagined. I was greeted and welcomed into the shop. I arrived a little early, and was able to get assisted promptly. Ms Darla, was friendly and experienced. She listened attentively and addressed all my questions. As far as styling goes, she exceeded my expectations. I got a wash, condition, blow dry and trim. It's honestly a overall 3.5 stars but I learned in school if it's a 0.5 you have to round up so that's what I did. Shop was clean. A few stylist there when I was present and was having a really in depth conversation ( and I was on the phone when I first walked in so ok with no greeting) but I did wait in a chair by the door about 10 mins before my stylist asked to the general public was anyone waiting for her? I said yes and she said okay I'll be there in a minute. But no officially welcome to the salon my name is so so. Whateves. Don't really care except my appointment was at noon and I didn't get into her chair until 12:30. That's ALWAYS annoying to me because my time cost money just like everyone's else's. I was done in an hour , so I was happy to exit stage left to get on with my busy day. Usually when I get a blow dry, my hair lays down as if I got a press just not super straight. For some reason, this is the second salon I've been to in Hawthorne where I leave at as if I washed and blow dried my hair at my own house. It was very puffy at the ends and didn't lay down like I'm use to. Idk if it's because I'm used to going to a salon in Beverly Hills but I'm going to find one one my side of town that will get it how I like it. My stylist was very pleasant the few words we spoke. I like to honestly just get in and out so having long drawn out conversations are NOT my thing so I was grateful for our flow. Darla is the stylist you want to see here. She is always on time, accepts online scheduling, and doesn't double book and leave you waiting. I was referred to Heavenly Hair from my cousin. Her hair always looked healthy and one day she shared her secret weapon Darla with me. My first few appointments with Darla were basically to see if I liked her style. A lot of times stylists are stuck and only capable of doing hair with styles that reflect their age, however Darla is able to keep up with the new trends and what fits you best. After I was able to experience Darla was a great stylist I was able to venture out and let Darla give me a Brazilian Blowout. In the black hair community the thought of a "blowout" of any sort sounds crazy. I have seen and heard horror stories about what has happened with people going to salons that are not accustomed to black hair care and once they get a Brazilian they suffer major hair loss. I was able to have confidence with Darla and let me tell you, it was probably one of the best things I ever did for my hair. The blowout changed my hair life for sure. It made it so manageable and allowed for me to wear styles I typically would not attempt. In addition to the styles my hair breakage was next to none. My hair began to grow without the major split ends I use to have to deal with. The next level of trust with Darla was to let her apply highlights. She made them look so natural (which I really wanted. I don't like stripes). Eventually one day I told her to color all of my hair. I was really apprehensive because many years ago when I highlighted my hair all the color pieces were very weak and brittle and broke off. Darla applied the color and a Brazilian touch up all in the same day and I had absolutely no issues and my hair remained healthy and easy to style myself. Okay so I'm starting to become a lazy natural and I've been going to the salon to get my hair washed. The only problem is that a lot of people nowadays require you to book 3 months in advanced and cost over $50 for a simple shampoo and condition... that wasn't my experience today THANKFULLY. I was searching for a black owned salon that was fairly affordable and I saw Heavenly Hair and I decided it was worth a shot. I pretty much walked in and requested for a shampoo and blow dry and I was able to get just that. The service may have been basic but I, personally, felt relaxed throughout and I didn't have to worry about washing my own head. I was also able to meet Darla, the owner and one of her stylists Jonyece and they both were kind. The salon is located on the side of the road but thankfully there's enough street parking so you don't have to worry about parking far. The salon itself was nice and clean and felt comfortable. Best part of it all was that I spent only $40 so I was very very grateful!! read more

Not only do I love the end results of my hair from Miss Darla...because she's very professional in handling my hair, I also love getting my hair washed by Miss Moriah. OMG! I have never had my hair washed the way she washes my hair. I could pay her to wash it a little longer. You know how back in the day when your mom used to make you part and scratch her head? Then when someone scratched your head you see why she made you do it? Well, you don't have to beg anyone to scratch your head anymore, just go to Heavenly Hair and have Miss Moriah wash your hair. I've never been to a place where both the wash and final results were outstanding, it's either one or the other. However, you get both at Heavenly Hair. ;-) read more
