Love it here! I have been coming since I was a kid. Everything is always fresh and you can always ask them to warm the cookies for you. The customer service is great and they even have other food options besides just cookies. It's located right in the middle of the mall as soon as you walk in from the outside it's on your left hand side. They have a wide variety of cookies, but my favorite is the snickerdoodle of course. I had to go revisit this location again yesterday just to be sure. Hadn't been here in years if at all and the visit was prompted by a discussion in a Facebook group I belong to. People were raving (mostly) about the Snickerdoodles at Iverson Mall and somebody talked about these cookies here too. Funny thing, is I go to the embroidery shop immediately around the corner all the time and I walk into this very entrance and pass these cookies pretty regularly and have never been inspired to order any until yesterday. Nothing like the smell of warm cookies in the mall. Any mall. Shades of Cinnabon in the food court in some malls. You smell them before you see them. Somebody in the Facebook group told me I "must be silly" to not agree that they're the best cookies in the world. *rolls eyes* Anyway.... I got 3 snickerdoodle, 2 butter crunch, and 2 chocolate walnut. Chocolate Walnut isn't as good as Mrs Fields. Not nearly as rich tasting. They weigh these cookies by the pound so seven cookies cost me $6 + change. The Verdict: The snickerdoodle needs more cinnamon sugar. The winner is the butter crutch - which hearkens identically of Linden Butter Crunch Cookies, only softer.... Which a friend of mine from Jersey turned me onto a few years back. I would recommend avoiding Heaven's Bakery. In the midst of ordering my cookies I noticed flies just chilling on the chocolate walnut and butter crunch cookies. I immediately told the lady ringing me up about the flies and that I no longer wanted the cookies. She had a slight attitude. The kicker is she never swatted at the flies or threw the cookies away. This led me to believe that it was a normal occurrence. Please don't fall victim to the hype. Poor customer service coupled with flies acting like they pay rent. read more

I actually forgot about this place! Long time ago when I lived in DC I used to get these cookies at Iverson Mall but recently discovered they were HERE, in Forestville Mall! They do much more than cookies, they have cakes, brownies, cheesecakes, bars, etc. Now I have not tried everything yet, but I promise you, you will be ADDICTED to these delectable treats. My faves are the butter crunch, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and coconut pecan I'm not a real big fan of chocolate chip but I know they're good too. This is a busy bakery for some good reasons. Speedy service, good quality desserts and very affordable prices. My wife and I bought brownies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles and butter crunch cookies. The brownie had a chocolate frosting. Brownies are classified as bar cookies. The cookie part was dark chocolate in flavor. My wife didn't like it because she doesn't like dark chocolate. I thought it was fine. It was a slightly chewy brownie with a texture between a fudge brownie and a cake brownie. The chocolate chip cookies were soft and moist throughout. Perfectly good cookie. The size of this cookie along with all the others was 2.5 inches in diameter or a little larger. The snickerdoodles were lightly crisp on the edge and slightly chewy in the center. It had great texture. It had a mild flavor of vanilla and butter. The cinnamon was lacking. Maybe someone forgot to roll the dough in cinnamon sugar. The cinnamon is an important part of this cookie. The butter crunch cookies were lightly crispy on the edge and slightly chewy in the center. The cookie tasted like a mix between the chocolate chip cookie and the snickerdoodle. The taste was good, but the toffee was lacking in flavor. The toffee pieces were very soft and tiny. The toffee is an important part of this cookie. If they can improve on the important parts of these cookies, they could be great. The price for cookies is by weight. There is a price for a quarter pound, a half pound, 3/4 pound and a pound. The brownies were priced per piece. You get a lower price per piece if you buy two. The prices are low compared to other bakeries for fresh made pastries and cookies. Sooo, I don't often have a reason to visit Forestville Mall, but when it came time to order a cool cake for my little girl's 8th birthday party, I decided to give them a try upon finding out the bakery I planned to use would not accommodate a Sunday pick up. I'm glad I gave them a try! This is a great, under the radar bakery located within the 'mall' that sells cookies, some pastries and custom cakes. They seem to specialize in really cool, elaborate and personalized cake designs (cue Cake Boss) and the cakes on display immediately catch the eye for anyone passing by. My request of this bakery was fairly last minute--I went in to order on Saturday for a next day (Sunday) party but they accepted the order AND waived the 'rush fee.' Not that they shouldn't have waived it-- the beach/luau themed cake I chose was pretty involved and not cheap at $90 for a sheet to feed about 50. But when I picked it up--and it was ready on time--it was beautiful! Designed to look like the ocean and beach complete with beach umbrellas and tikis and palm trees and even a brown Barbie doll chilling on the cake/beach. Needless to say, my little girl LOVED it (even though mom messed up the cake's writing somewhere in between pick up and reveal.... It looked fabulous and tasted wonderful, too. I normally don't write reviews but after a conversation with the manager of this establishment it saddens me that I have to write one. Today at approximately 12:45 in the afternoon I called heavens bakery excited to order cupcakes to surprise them for my spouse. But, unfortunately to my dismay I was rudely greeted by the caller on the other end of the phone.  My question to the caller was,  "Can I place an order please?" The caller immediately stated, "We don't take orders over the phone."  I said, "That's a bit odd because I just recently purchased a cake and I called in an order for cupcakes to add and they assist me with no problems." The caller on the other end of the phone stated, "Well they shouldn't have done that that's not policy."  I was so surprised by the rude person on the other end of the phone. I asked who am I speaking with & to my surprise it was the manager / owner of  Heavens Bakery . I stated, "You are the owner? I'm sorry that I'm asking so many questions but you're being a little rude." She says while  rudely cutting me off, "I'm not being rude I'm just telling you the policies of my business".  I then asked where is the gentleman that normally does the orders.  She's said he's an employee- I'm sorry her exact words were, "he's an employee I'm a manager/owner of this location he's not available to help you with anything right now because he's not available." I said just because of the location of the establishment you treat people especially callers on the other end of phone to the level of customer that you believe you have in the area. Rudely again she says "I'm just trying to tell you the policy in my  bakery."  I asked her if there a way that I can order because I have history with you all,  I order a lot of things,  I give great reviews to my friends about the  cupcakes all the time. She just simply said "NO, and it's  unfortunate that you feel that I'm being rude but I'm the manager and I'm telling you the rules of  my business. " At this point i just went on telling her how I've ordered several cakes from them for my birthday, my spouse's birthday, my uncles birthday, my spouse's birthday again.  I send friends to this establishment, because it's that great.  I was so upset by the time I hung up the phone because there  was nothing she did to make me feel appreciated as a customer.  I kept telling her how much I love her business and how I tell everybody about it. If anything, she could have said ok give me the order I'll do it this time but you must come in today and pay.  She didn't give me any suggestions she just said this is my  establishment & my and no we can't do it.  So, after years of spending over $150.00 at a time and bragging about this place because I love the designs.... the way the cakes taste... the cupcakes taste.... the cookies..... and everything, I will NEVER praise this business again.  The manager was extremely rude and she showed no remorse even after I told her how much I love the place. She shot me down and said well we just don't do it.  This is an area where you get all walks of life but you shouldn't treat everyone the same.  This is a sad day for me, a sad day for my family, and a sad day for heavens bakery.  I have to find another location to surprise my family & friends with desserts. Hopefully this message will encourage  the owner to at least say "I'm sorry if you felt that way... how can we work it out...?" If not, that would be very unfortunate. We walked in to grab a small cake and get words written on it for a tiny gathering. This beautiful pink heart cake was calling to us for my 12yr old birthday girls celebration. The lady behind the counter told us she would write "Happy 12th Birthday Angel" on the cake, I even wrote it on a post it note to ensure proper spelling. We came back a few minutes later and was shown "Happy 12th Binthday Anqel". Now, granted not everyone has impeccable cursive handwriting but I do believe there is a standard when writing on cakes, that will be in pictures and reflects your business name. When we asked what the lady behind the counter thought the cake said, she told my aunt and I that she wrote her 'R' like an 'N' and it was what it was. Not to mention the 'g' in Angel is pretty much a 'q'. We frequented this place quite often but now... we more than likely will never go back. Heaven's Bakery is the best bakery ever although they may not be high tech with doing cakes that has everything on it edible and majority of the cakes displayed has pieces on the their cakes that is inedibleand you literally have to take off of the cake in order to eat but if you look past that their cakes are amazing...and their cookies hands down best mall cookies...now I cannot speak on the slice cakes that are in the displays but I will vouch for the cookies and made to order cakes...I hosted my cousin's bridal shower and came up with the bridal theme which was LOVE and her favorite color purple. I decorated the entire bridal shower and needed a last minute cake to bring out the table...I emailed the owner and gave him the look I was going for and I told him I needed the cake the next morning for I went there before they were to close the night before...when I was at the bakery that night I talk to one of the ladies and asked for an email address of the owner...before leaving and sitting in my car emailing the owner the look I wanted... I was like man this is about to be an epic fail and that this bakery is not going to do anything I ask for but little did I know the purple ombre cake came out better than I expected and the owner personally made sure he was there that morning to give me the cake himself... this purple ombre cake was beautiful and was soooooo yummy...the bride was happy so of course I was happy this event was a success!! The "manager" was really rude and didn't want me to write my (complicated) phrase on the order form so I let him do it and when it was wrong and I asked him to correct the spelling he got upset and had a bad attitude. I was there to buy an almost $100 cake...not a couple cookies...I wanted it to be done right. When i went to pick up the cake after a couple minor tweaks to the decorations on it it was perfect. The manager then on duty...maybe the owner? Was really pleasant...I heard him mention his wife also works there ...I'm guessing owner...he was nice so it made up for the other rude guy. I was in a bind for time because my daughter's birthday party was in a few days and I needed a cute cake. I went into the mall to place an order as recommended by a previous Yelper. I was met by a middle age woman with gray curly hair (I'm describing her just in case you want to deal with her based off of my review) who was ready and eager to help me. She gave me a large black book of previous cake designs and ideas to help me choose a theme/ design (very helpful). She also gave me advice on choosing frosting colors which made me change my order from a Elmo face (with bitter red frosting) or Minnie Mouse face (with bitter black frosting) to ultimately choosing a lighter colored Minnie Mouse theme cake. The lady was very patient when dealing with me. I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake which came to $90 ($75 for the cake and $15 for the figurines). I also ordered some snicker doodles because honestly, who can leave the mall without a few and I think she may have given me a few extra. The cake was also delicious. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because I was hoping for the cake to have a grassy frosting scenery or something.
