The Southern Spread is another great restaurant in Abbeville! It has a unique cuisine that marries…read moreCajun and home-style foods, with a touch of class. It's both familiar and different, a delightful play on themes we all know and love. One example was the Bougie BLT I had today. It's the Melt of the Month, and is what happens when a BLT and a high-end grilled cheese sandwich have a love child. There's other adult grilled cheeses that are really great. Then there the things on buns, which include burgers and roast beef. I haven't made it to the plate lunches yet, but I intend to someday. I am also highly tempted by the whole-meal potatoes, there's a seafood and a beef version. Sides are available, but I just can't get past the loaded mashed potatoes and the seasoned fries. Both are incredible. For the more diet conscious there are some very nice salads and wraps. Soups and gumbos round out the menu. Service is always very nice and the orders are served promptly. Given these things, I certainly will have the Southern Spread on my short list of places to eat in Abbeville!

. OK, just got back…read morefrom our first visit here. Everything is confusing, up-front, but the food is very, very good and it is a nice place. Let me take it item-by-item. "Food Truck", yes there is a food truck, but it is parked in front of a nice medium size restaurant-cafe. Plenty parking in non-shaded private corner concrete lot, well-marked. There is sufficient parking even for a couple truck/boat-trailer rigs. Easy street access; place is about one block east of the V.P. Court House & VPSO HQ, fronting on Charity Street (Old LA HWY 14) in the business/banking/government center. This is in an extremely competitive restaurant neighborhood, with a number of excellent established eateries. In fact, we often drive the 45" to eat at several of the older places here. Entire place is very clean & neat, including restrooms. Their kitchen closes @ 2:00 PM Sundays. Arriving about 1:20, we were the only customers. Sunday menu is limited to breakfast & brunch type items. Foods are typical for region. This town is famous for good cooks, great Cajun & Southern foods. Waitress is nice, but is unsure of menu items; the maitre d' is more knowledgeable. However, once we got our cheeseburgers & fries, the meal was excellent. Very good burgers, good fries. Overall, very good food, digs, & overall value. No real disappointments. We'll definitely be back, but likely on a weekday for lunch. Will add Southern Spread to our "go-to list", especially when pulling our small boat. This is a definite "Try it, you will like it place" ! Rick .

Instead of apologizing or replacing the meal, she offered a $1.99 discount on a plate that cost over $25. As a former restaurant manager myself, I know how situations like this should be handled--with care, professionalism, and at the very least a sincere apology. The manager, Kaylan, was rude and didn't even remove the plate from our table. The whole interaction left a bad taste in my mouth, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. UPDATE: The General Manager Joshua Spell made the matter right with a sincere apology letter and gift card, and reassured us that the manager who attended to the matter that night would be trained on how to handle the situation better in the future. I agreed it was a learning experience and was very grateful for the way Josh made it right. Thank yo adn we will give Fezzo's another shot.

Much better than anything in New Orleans ! Just try it, please. My fav's here are the stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp in corn flour, corn grits, & the small filet mignon. Others are stuffed potato & bread pudding. Occasionally, their daily specials will be very good. Caveats; Arrive very early for Saturday supper. Father Vidrine's 4:00 Mass celebrations @ nearby Saint Martin de Tours Church are very popular; all of the folks arrive en-masse for supper right afterwards at 5:00PM. Also, this Chef just doesn't do soft-shell crabs very well; strange, b/c his other crab dishes are great. Good, dependable restaurant toujours !
