This is definitely not the Super 8 I will be staying at the next time I'm in Lansing. The location…read moreis good since its right off the freeway and has tons of restaurants with in a walking distance. The downside is definitely the cleanliness. I'd give it a 2/5. The lobby is small with dim lighting and a few tables which also serves as the breakfast area in the am. The rooms are average sized with a bed with a mini desk and chairs. The rooms DO lack cleanliness. I walked 20 ft on the carpet barefoot and the soles of my feet turned black. That is definitely not a good sign. The bathroom has dim lights and the tub just has a soap scum look and feel unwashed. I would not recommend this place. pro: free wi-fi + location cons: lack of cleanliness

Ahh! Run away! So I…read morewill admit this place was cheap and probably even cheaper since we had a whole bus full of people for a MSU Game weekend and this was probably one of the only places that had enough occupancy for us to stay at - now I know why. Nearly everything in the room is operated by the one light switch by the door, you can't turn the tv or air conditioning on without it. Weird. The bathrooms were barely clean and my boyfriend definitely killed a bug in there - he said it was a tick! I almost slipped and fell in the tub because it was so slippery and the sink leaked...a lot. I could probably name about 20 other things wrong with this place, but I think you get my point. The only plus I can think of other than the price is that my room had a mini fridge that I gladly used for my leftover dinner (although it also only turned on when the wall switch was on).

The room was HUGE for the two of us and equipped with mini fridge, microwave, desk, and a huge shower. Also super tall ceilings. The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. It's hard to walk by without being acknowledged and greeted. Super impressive breakfast. The all star is the egg quiche! It's restaurant quality and supe Doesn't look like much but tasted awesome. After trying it the first time I couldn't wait for breakfast the next day to eat it again. I liked the blueberry lemon scone too. The lemon water was a nice touch. My only complaint is that doors tend to slam and echo loudly here. Not sure if that's fixable but basically up until midnight and starting at six am I was hearing loud bangs outside my door, even with two phones playing white noise. I am a light sleeper but my husband who is a deep sleeper heard it all night too. I felt it interrupted our sleep.

The State blocked a room off for me but not under my name. I showed the clerk the email with the name that blocked the room for me to no avail. I needed the room so I paid myself. Once in the room (tired) and now around midnight, I attempt to turn the temperature up. It was pretty cold. We are in Michigan. The thermometer didn't work. Through the night the air conditioning unit would make three tapping noises every 10 minutes as if someone was at the door. I'd wake up. Then there was a persistent loud noise at the door as if someone was hitting it every 3 seconds with a wire hanger. There was also an orange speaker light illuminating from the room phone. The pillows were nice! Shame on me for not walking away from this. In addition. I went back to the hotel that evening after work. Only that the person who reserved the room didn't get charged. That I would stay the night if it prevented her from having to pay for the extra room. Once there, they looked at me and said "you're banned." I asked if it was due to this yelp review because it couldn't be for anything else. The woman behind the counter said she wasn't engaging with me and repeated "you're banned." To note, I had recently gotten off work. Not intoxicated, no expletives, no tirade, no threats, no yelling, no toppling over furniture or banging on counters. Simply a 6'5" Black Guy. I didn't want to take it to race but after bouncing this info off others. What could have been? I just want to be sure to give my full experience. I'll be contacting the corporate office and simply not throw my money that way.

I stayed here a few times a year or two ago before i moved to the area. It was never nice or good but it was tolerable when i needed to check into a cheap place for a night to visit my boyfriend at msu. yesterday I had to get a hotel room for my boyfriend and i while we figured out a bug problem we had in our apartment..i had him go check in since it was under his name and when he came back to the car he told me the lady hardly spoke , never asked for his ID for verification or a card to put on file. Which is very very strange to me..because in past times when checking in i was always required to do so. Immediately i was put off by the fact that half of the cars parked in the lot look wrecked, trashed, or even abandoned. Many people are sitting outside with their doors cracked and smoking. I got many stares and looks by the people around. When we got to our first room it smelled like smoke, bedsheets were dirty and had strange stains, The material on the ceiling was peeling, dead bugs were all over the walls. It smelled like someone had been smoking in the room, at some point. So we had requested a room change..the lady at the counter didn't even question anything or respond to me , she just got us a new room and handed us the key with no words. The second room was fine, bedsheets were tolerable but theres much needed maintenance in the room as there is a massive crack in the toilet seat and if you sit on it to use the toilet it will pinch your ass. And just lots of other little things like broken curtains and busted ac. The room was still kind of dusty but better than the last. Im 95% sure i saw someones drug dealer or hooker pulling up when we checked in at 1am. Theres so much going on at every hour , people yelling, knocking on doors constantly, loud music playing, the smell of other people's cigarettes leaks through the doors. Constant crime, police are always here, and Management SUCKS.
