No words for the customer service at Heckeroth Plumbing. Unfortunately, I have nothing to report about their actual work because I never was able to make it that far. I had an appointment booked for over a week. I usually get a confirmation text the day before with other companies but didn't with Heckeroth. I did not think much of it and assumed I was all set. I scheduled my work day around this appointment which was between 12-2. I had a busy morning and missed a call at 10:45am confirming the appointment. I called at 12:30 to check status and eta. The woman, who answered, confirmed my name and address, told me that no, my appointment isn't 12-2, it's 12-4. I said I was told 12-2 when I booked and she said no, 12-4. The tone said I was mistaken. She also had no clue of the approximate time someone would come. Fine, now I have to get a ride for my daughter so I can now be home and available until 4pm. At 3:30, I decide to give them a call again to check the eta. A different woman answered, equally as indifferent and not understanding of the situation but did confirm I was scheduled between 12-2. She informed me that she called at 10:45am and I didn't answer so the technician was gone for the day and my appointment cancelled. What?! I called at 12:30 and was told someone would arrive between 12-4. She said, "Well I don't know who you spoke to but...". At this point I was made to feel like I was incorrect by 2 employees when indeed my appointment was between 12-2 and I did call at 12:30 and spoke to someone who confirmed my appointment. What's going on in that office? Her attitude was horrifying and I never get upset in these situations but said that this is ridiculous and I won't be doing business with them if this is how they treat people. Her response was, "ok". I feel I dodged a bullet. If this is how you treat potential customers...I was about to drop thousands on this job. Also, you don't send a technician for a scheduled appointment simply because the person didn't pick up when you called an hour before the appointment was set? Awful and a waste of my time. read more

I called Heckeroth some time ago when my whole system clogged up. The guy came and removed my toilet. He snaked it out and put the toilet back. Then proceeded to charge me a ridiculous fortune for the service. I later asked a plumber what the job should have cost and he laughed when I told him what my Heckeroth bill was. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that as the guy worked, he would occasionally spit tobacco juice into my toilet. So lovely! I'd rather go pee in the yard than call Heckeroth again. read more

Herkeroth did a great job installing a tankless water heater. BUT unfortunately they mislead me with the financing plan and we were hit with a surprise interest fee of $2103.83 I called customer service who quickly blamed the bank and then blamed me. They could have taken professional tone or been adults about the miscommunication, instead they were nasty and obnoxious. read more

We are very grateful to Heckeroff plumbing and are long standing customers. This week, we needed nearly 30 feet of our plumbing restored (it had originally been done by Rice Plumbing only 10 years ago, and who did very sloppy work). Mike came in, assessed the problem and then - came right on time with a small crew and got the job done - beautifully - in a day. They were professional, courteous and are proud of their work - and it really shows. Heckeroff has financing options, too, that made the work possible for us. read more

Buyer beware - go elsewhere if you want affordable, trustworthy plumbing. I just bought a house and contacted them because we knew that there were some issues to be fixed. We have an issue with the hot water in one bathroom and they said they didn't notice it. We also had a toilet that wasn't draining - they said it was "not fixable" and would cost $820 to replace the toilet...$820 for a toilet...My husband and I bought a plunger and some drain cleaner and it's now working perfectly. I called them to complain and they told me they immediately started arguing with me and didn't offer to check what had happened or support us in any way. They said I should have been at the house even though they agreed to do a visit while we were away. What you want is a great plumbers in the area that cares about long-term relationships with customers, they don't fit the bill. read more

Heckeroth is an extremely unprofessional and unreliable organization and they have horrible customer service. I went into contract in August to have them install the generator for my house. I put down half of the cost at the time of the agreement. The goal was to have the generator BEFORE winter. It is now toward the end of October and I was just informed that their electrician doesn't have a license to work in the Town of Newburgh so they will be refunding my down payment. Mind you I had been calling them almost every week for months, often without getting a response or having to call repeatedly to get an answer. I am now out of a generator. I would not recommend them to anyone!!! You will have to stalk them to get any information and they will leave you high and dry at the last minute!!!! read more

I got a card/flyer/sales-pitch thing from Heckeroth in my mailbox, touting a deal that sounded good (and printed in bright happy colors with a laughing smiling family on it), so I called them (Heckeroth - not the happy family), described my situation, and was told they'd call me back when they'd looked into it. After two weeks or so without having received a call back, I called again and started over from the beginning. I was told Joe would come to my house between 11:00 and 1:00 today, and that they'd call first to make sure I'd be home. It's now 3:21, and guess what? No call (and no Joe). Why go to the effort and expense of producing and mailing flyers if you have no intention of doing any business? It occurs to me now that the members of the happy family on the card were lying in the grass. They were probably so happy because they were outside, out of sight and out of mind of their house with the broken furnace that Heckeroth never showed up to fix. read more

I see nothing but negative reviews and feel they deserve more than that. While I understand not everyone is as personable as we all wish, these are VERY qualified/knowledgeable/experienced people. I purchased and hired Heckeroth to install a generator. It was an 8 hr project and was one of the coldest days of the year. They carried on with no complaints! They were very informative as I had many questions along the way being a new home owner. My only suggestion folks is to do your homework. They may not be the most inexpensive, but you know the old saying "you get what you pay for" and they stand behind their work. A silly mistake easily rectified made them have to return at midnight, which they did at no charge. In the end they cleaned up after themselves and left my home as it was when they arrived. Kudos on the "Heckeroth" sweatshirts, I noticed they all had one on. read more

I called Heckeroth because my gas heater hot water heater combo unit by Navien was dripping water and I have a service contract with them. The tech arrived and told me that the problem was that my water was too hard for this unit and I needed to put in a water softener and might need to replace the entire unit. He tested my water and told me it had a hardness of 8 and the unit could only handle 7. I had my water checked and the hardness was between 4and 5. I check with Navien and they told me the unit could handle up to a hardness of 12. The tech either flat out lied or was incompetent. Either way this is not a company to use. I cancelled my service contract with them and got my money back. I am following up with the manufacturer (Navien) about this companies inability to service their product. Worse - incompetent . Needed to have them come to fix a leak under the kitchen sink. It was done half-ass and with in a month I had to call them again because water was gushing out from the pipe under the sink, this time they did fix the leak, but of course charged me for the repair that was not done right in the first place. In addition, I had them install a diswasher, which they just hooked up as before and should of told me that it should of been hooked into the kitchen pipe to be done correctly. When the new dishwasher backed up (which was the original problem), I had to call another plumber to correct all the wrong work that Heckeroth did. By the way, when I inquired about replacing a flapper valve on the toilet, I was quoted over $350.00!!! One star at best read more

Heckeroth has been my go to plumbing/heating guys after suffering years of other local businesses either not returning calls or doing shoddy/substandard work. Heckeroth is pricey, no question, but they do several important things: they return inquiries quickly, they show up when they say they will show up and the job is satisfactorily completed and clearly explained by their techs who are smart and capable. I am willing to pay a premium for dependability. To date they have installed and maintained my automatic generator and on demand heater in addition the usual plumbing problems. read more

I got frustrated attempting to fix leaky kitchen sink sprayer so I called in this outfit. I figured that while they were here I would have them look at a dripping sink trap in basement as well as the hot water shut off to kitchen sink. They wanted just under $700 (not a typo!) Would have been much, much more had I went with a whole new faucet like they originally wanted. They wanted to replace entire trap in basement for what was simply a cracked plastic nut. After putting my anger and frustration aside and replacing it with patience, I spent less than $50 (also not a typo) at Home Depot on parts and less than 1 hour of my time fixing all. The best I can figure is that they must charge over $600 per hour labor. read more

I purchased a propane heating unit from Heckeroth a year ago. Yesterday I noticed the pilot light had gone out , and I called heckeroth about it. I was quoted a $69 service call fee and set up an appointment. James, their service person, came and did light my pilot, and showed me how to do it for myself. It took at most 10 minutes. The bill was $182.52 ( $69 for service call and $100 for 10 minutes of labor) BEWARE! read more

I give 0 stars to the multiple employees and "manager" that scammed us for what They got with fake fixing and unnecessary parts taken off by the new company we used (free of charge by them) and the 7000 they tried to get from us saying we needed a new tank and boiler. Yet they never fixed something so simple that the company who came for second opinion did for free bc they felt bad of what heckeroth did to us!! Avoid this company like the plague. They charged me $260 to turn off a valve to a broken line. The plumber was not all that professional, someone I would never had hired after screening. The co-owner of the company, Melissa Holmes, told me that the emergency visit was $69.99 and that she believes the additional $170 to turn off the valve and saw 2 holes in my wall was a fair price. She would not budge on the pricing and, quite frankly, she would barely listen to my concerns. As a new homeowner, I was planning on using Heckeroth for all my plumbing, heating, and electric needs--but now I will eagerly be using the services of one of their competitors. BE WARNED! read more

As the previous review stated, these people are crooks. I felt like I was dealing with a used care salesman.. They will nail you every chance they get. A call out fee was billed even though they didnt have to do anything. No consideration was given. The tech talked his way into 3+ hours of overtime.. instead of just getting the work done and giving us an outrageous bill, he had the nerve to lolly gag and make money for himself.. They do come when needed and the work is good, but there will ALWAYS be a charge!!!!...even if you already know what you need. They will tell you they have to come and charge you anyway. I was upset because I felt like I was taken advantage of. I DID NOT want any money back. I merely wanted to know I was being 'heard.' Instead I was told I could not speak with a manager or owner and constantly cut off when I tried to speak telling me I was wrong. Melissa was extremely RUDE and HUNG UP ON ME!!! I would strongly recommend you stay away from Heckeroth. They seemed OK for some general purpose work, but then had a VERY bad experience with them when my generator (which I paid 10k for) was installed and had continuous problems over a few years, then died completely. The generator never worked reliably, then ended up with a slew of more serious issues (cracked cylinder head, burned out muffler, etc.) due to their incompetence and now unwilling to even speak to me about it. They supposedly let their Generac license expire, and don't seem to really understand how to install or maintain the unit. I had another company (who are a fully-licensed top-level Generac dealer) come look at the unit, who mentioned that the issues were caused by poor maintenance (e.g. cylinder head over-tightened, spark plugs not replaced when they should have, no electrical grounding, no town permit and inspection, etc, etc.). For the past several months I have tried to talk to someone their about what to do about it (and I wasn't trying to get out of paying for repairs), but no-one with any authority (I tried contacting the owners, but was always told they were out and wouldn't call me back) will call me back, and I have tried at least 10 times. I've finally decided to avoid any more stress about this, and bite the bullet and pay for a new unit (with a 10 year warranty) from another company. If you want to take a chance with them and potentially have this happen to you, or be treated like a non-entity, by all means go with Heckeroth; I would stay far and wide away from them. They are truly an awful business with people who don't care one iota about their customers. read more

The 3250 Intellidyne Intellicon HW+ heat economizer is supposed to garner savings of 10% or more. Heckeroth installed mine for $486. The readout displayed savings of between .02% and .1%. I called Heckeroth Plumbing and Heating four times over the past winter complaining that the device may have been installed incorrectly and asking them to come check it out. They gave me the run around every single time. Finally I called the manufacturer and they went over the installation with me. Not only was the thing programmed wrong, but they had installed the sensors incorrectly. I called the plumbing company and demanded they come back and fix it. I also asked for some compensation for the savings I would have gotten had it been installed correctly. They did come out and change the programming and the sensors, but it is still not correct. Bottom line is this is a very poorly managed company with an extreme lack of oversight. The workers are nice enough, but not well trained, do not clean up after themselves and you will never get the same person twice. They will take no responsibility for the error they made. I should have known better than to use this company because the first experience I had was so bad. They came out to put a camera in my sewer line and diagnose a problem and their camera broke. They still tried to charge me $200 and the owner was even there on this call. Just a ridiculous situation all around. Nothing, but a big headache with every experience. By the way, I figured out I could have installed the heat economizer myself in less than an hour. They charged me $300 for their labor. read more

They came the same day to address the problem telling me there would be a $69 service charge fee plus the cost to fix the problem. The fellow said the oil burner control unit needed to be replaced. He came back from his truck and said he had 2 choices on replacement; 1 an exact replacement for what I had and the other a more expensive model with a digital readout. I chose the exact replacement which he said would be $505. I almost choked but said ok as he seemed to know what the problem was and I what needed...my furnace would not start. While he was working I Goggled the exact control unit he was installing. The cost for me $60.75 for the exact control unit. From the time he stepped into my house to completing the installation was 1 hour. I asked him if he had made a mistake on the price. He said no; that they go by a price sheet. He said the charge has nothing to do with the cost of the part or how long it takes to install it. When asked for the price sheet he said he could not give it to me and that I would have to call the office. I said I would call the office to talk about the price and he said it would be clerical people who couldn't help me. He called the owner who authorized a reduction of $101....putting the check I had to write at just over $500 for 1 hours work & a retail price of $60 for the part. What a RIP OFF!!! The fellow told me no one ever complains about the charges. Well, wakeup people! I do not begrudge anyone a profit, but this is gross abuse! Before the days of easily reaching out to the world as a sanity check (ie goggling), I would not have known I was being taken advantage of so quickly. SHAME ON YOU HECKEROTH!
