    Calamari
    Toni M.

Had a late lunch at Heckmans. Everything about our experience was wonderful. The waitstaff are super friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and interesting. We had the lobster roll, calamari and clam chowder. None of it is your usual what you would expect. The calamari is squid in a fra diavolo type meat sauce, spicey and refreshing at the same time. The lobster roll is hot lobster with herbed butter on a house made, circular pretzel wreath bun finished with finishing salt. It was possibly the best lobster roll I've ever had and I've had a lot of lobster rolls. The clam chowder was chuck full of chopped and full clams. I can't wait to go back.

We were staying at the Nonantum and Heckmans is right off the lobby. We hit them up for our last night in town and so glad we did. I got the lobster roll and YUM! The waitress told me it came on a house made pretzel roll and I was down for a different roll. It was a butter lobster roll and was absolutely phenomenal. My husband got the grilled cheese dippers (app) as an entree and it was also very good for those who don't love lobster or seafood. The drinks are good here and all over the resort. We drank the blueberry mojitos (made with vodka) through our whole stay and were very happy. This place isn't too crowded and you don't have to stay at the resort to enjoy. Add this to your list of places to eat in Kennebunkport.

This one is a no-brainer. Hospitality industry- please take notes. This is how you win customers. Despite all the staff shortage we keep hearing about, this whole Nonatum business is doing a lot of right things! People were super helpful. We were initially directed to the Latitudes restaurant outdoors but Kenny was packing up the umbrellas in the swimming pool (a storm was rolling in soon) when he suggested we go inside to heckman's pub , they had the same menu. Scott was nice to sit us outside and bring us our drinks and food. He checked on us quite a few times. It's a win in my bf's books when someone get his order of water right- no ice with a wedge of lime The food was delicious - highly recommend the gluten free impossible beef something pasta and the double cheeseburger - it had a very nice chargrill flavor. I would come back in a heartbeat! People were super nice and we saw how others were equally treated well, given that the rain was coming is and the resort was packed with guest.

No need to be staying at the Nonantum, and their parking lot makes it easy to get to.

The menu is a great mix of drinks, desserts, and dessert-drink combos. A group of 5 of us arrived and waited about 10 minutes for spots at the bar. The inside is pretty small but optimized with both bar and booth seating. The decor is so cute and whimsical. I loved all of the details! The desserts are pricey (most are around $15-20), but the portions are big enough to share with at least 1 other person. I got the Chocolate Chip Cookie Royale, which really hit the sweet-salty spot with a warm choc chip cookie, salty sweet cream ice cream, salted caramel, sesame brittle, and tahini whipped cream. The savorier elements allowed me to keep eating and not get overwhelmed by sweetness. My friends got the vegan peach crumble and chocolate cake and enjoyed theirs as well. Come with your sweet tooth, and leave happy and satisfied!

The owners lead by example, welcoming every guest with warm smiles and true hospitality. Knowing they prioritize locally sourced ingredients only made us appreciate the experience even more and left us excited to return. The croquettes were light, crispy, and full of flavor. While the fondue wasn't our favorite, it's easy to understand why it graced nearly every table around us. My partner declared the steak frites the best he's ever had--and those fries absolutely lived up to the praise. As for my haddock Wellington, words don't quite do it justice. Crispy yet delicate, light yet deeply flavorful--it was one of those dishes you keep thinking about long after the meal ends. I already can't wait to have it again. Until next time, Chez Rosa.

The cheese fondue which we ordered was presented in a tiny Dollar General kind of pot and the presentation of the bread potatoes ?!! Grapes , was slovenly, haphazard. The bread was not crusty as it should be and the melted cheese was lukewarm. It was all in all revolting. The bar service was fine. The guys were pleasant. This is a phoney baloney place with inauthentic Food choices. The menu is so strange,!! Not a good French casual dining experience.

I love that it's a bit out of the way of the downtown area so you can park and relax in a beautiful setting. We started with cocktails and drank them outside while admiring the beautiful property, i highly recommend getting there before your reservation so you can enjoy a drink on a nice day outside! I got the Tideline cocktail and substituted the tequila for mezcal after the bartender suggested it and wow! A great drink and i was impressed how fast the service was. Once we sat down inside we ordered a lovely Gamay for the table, you really can't go wrong with any of the wines on the menu they have a great selection. We ordered quite a few dishes to share between the three of us and the server brought them out in a 3 course style per her suggestion. We started with the citrus and fennel salad and grilled raddichio and these were both so fresh and delicious, we had to leftover vegetables this were exceptional. Then came the asparagus pizza, pork and beef meatballs, and the focaccia as our second course. We almost skipped the focaccia- that would have been a huge mistake. That is a must order, the texture was biscuit like and the seasonal flavored butter was divine. The pizza was really blowing us away with the white sauce and the chili crisp combination. The dough is so light and crispy as well it was wonderful. The meatballs were huge! and came with delicious grilled sourdough. The pasta and lamb shank came out next and at this point we couldn't see how it could get any better but then it did! The lamb shank is huge and cooked so beautifully. The pastas were definitely the standout bites of the course. The carbonara noodles are thick and cooked perfectly and the sauce is so rich a creamy. The Tortelli pasta was my favorite, the pockets stuffed with a gooey filling and the fava beans added a great texture to the dish. We were in carb heaven. We somehow were able to fit dessert in and i'm so glad we did not skip it. We ordered espresso martinis to accompany and this is without a doubt the best espresso martini i have ever had. We substituted tequila and they were completely delicious. I don't remember exactly what the names of the desserts were that we got but one was a a chocolate mousse with a peanut butter sauce and crunchy peanuts which was so yummy. But the favorite of the table was the pistachio one. It was like an ice cream bar with crunchy pistachios on it. Get this one if you go! This was an unforgettable meal from service to food. The staff is incredible and really treat you wonderfully and the food is so good i really didn't expect it to blow me away as much as it did. This is a place i'm going to have to come back to again and again.

Staying July 27 - Aug 1st, 2026 (5 nights) Things started badly from the second we approached the front desk. We arrived a little after 3pm on Mon. July 27, 2026 for check in (guest check in is between 3-9). We were told the room wasn't ready, no problem. Decided to grab a drink and wait outside, beautiful weather. Gorgeous area, directly across from the beach. Around 4:15pm we were told the room was ready. Great! We carried our luggage up and were ready to relax/shower before dinner. Walked in and were immediately hit with a VERY strong chemical smell. Sat down and started thinking this doesn't seem right. My eyes and throat started to burn. Seemed like something strong mixed with bleach. We opened the windows and decided it's best to ask the front desk for help. Went back downstairs and spoke with the manager - David. Very kind and tried his best to help with the odor. He informed us that all the rooms are filled, but he could try and air the room out with fans and get rid of the smell. Again no problem, things happen. Head back to the lobby to WAIT. Around 5pm (we still had the keys) my husband -Darren decided to go into the room and check it out. David greeted me as I was sitting on the sofa in the lounge/restaurant around the same time. He told me that the room was ready, he had let the room air out for the last hour. It no longer has the chemical smell, but it does kind of smell like the restaurant. That was strange, but at this point we just wanted to get settled. I got up and walked towards the stairs as Darren was headed back down. He informed me that the bleach and cleaning spray was still beyond strong. My husband is not usually affected by strong scents, and was getting a headache. I did not go back to the room, as I didn't want to get sick. Back to the front desk, told David that it is still very strong and he said that we should have informed them that we had an opposition to strong smells before arrival. I thought that was crazy, I've never had this problem at any hotel up here before. Now he has made us feel like we are being a problem for speaking up about the smell and voicing concerns about getting sick. We asked if we could change rooms for the night and he explained the hotel is fully booked. He would need to talk with the general manager - Bridget. So we sat back down in the lobby. By this time it was 5:15. We moved out to the porch and around 5:30 Bridget met us. She was very kind and understanding. Stated again that the hotel was fully booked, no rooms available and offered to cover a dinner as an apology during our stay. I looked online at some of the sister properties around town, that they market as "connected" with shared amenities and services. We have actually stayed at a couple previously without any issues. I suggested we changed to one of those, because they have availability for the dates of our stay. Now it's 6:15-30 or so. I was told I would have needed to have cancelled my reservations 14 days ago to make that happen, as the systems are not connected. What? We want to stay at Tides, that's why we booked here! Why would we cancel our reservation ahead of time? This chemical situation was out of our control when we arrived. She suggested that we could move into a different room just for the night and then switch back to a room in our category tomorrow. Perfect, that was totally fine. We were still made to feel like we inconvenienced staff for something that was out of our control. Brigette gave us the keys to room #305, we carried our luggage up and settled in at around 7pm (4 hours waiting in lobby to get everything figured out & into a room). The next day, around 12:15 #201 was ready. Checked back in around 3-3:30, took our luggage back up and settled in after our outing. Checking out this morning. Said "Good morning and told the women at the front desk we are checking out. She replied "Good morning, so did you enjoy THAT room?"... We nodded yes, said have a good weekend and left. What a kick in the teeth to end our stay. We both left sad and disappointed with that comment. The staff all knew that we asked to change rooms because of the smell? Service, cleanliness and feeling when in this hotel are way out of wack and terrible. This will be a one and done stay for us at Tides.
