Better Service! Serve a hot meal. Just brought the yacht into harbor at Kennebunkport. The owners were having dinner on the yacht and I told the chef I was going to go ashore and eat. After waiting an hour my meal came out cold. I ordered the stuff haddock. It's a nice atmosphere on the deck but not very nice when the food is cold. Took another 30 minutes to get it to the table. I'm glad I was by myself. I wish it was super busy but there were 7 empty tables. Maybe they will get better as the season progresses. read more

This place was adorable! They have a parking lot which seems like a huge bonus around here. The water views definitely are a huge draw to the place. I also thought the inside looked cute, but the weather was great, so we ate outside. The service was friendly. My mom and I shared the lobster stew and the haddock Rueben, and both were fantastic. The stew had lots of lobster chunks. The Rueben was perfectly fried fish, and the bread was toasted with the perfect amount of butter. The clam chowder was tasty, and my dad shared clams from his roll, as there were plenty. For the area, it seemed very competitively priced, especially with the parking and view. The waitress was snooty about the fact that my family and I only wanted drinks and an appetizer which is a normal thing to do. When she brought the check she threw it down on the table aggressively. Then she added gratuity to the bill herself even though we were not a party of 6 or more. Additionally, there is no air conditioning nor is there enough fans to keep customers cool. Then she told us "good luck finding a place with AC that has less than a two hour wait." On top of all of this the shrimp cocktail was simply mediocre at best. We went here hoping for a great meal with amazing ambience. We arrived right at 6 and were told a 35 - 45 minute wait. After an hour I asked and was told we were next and it was still another half hour before we were seated. We were a party of 5 so not a huge group. We had drinks from the bar while waiting and the server was good. She was fast and was slinging drinks. The drinks were good not great but on par for the cost. Our meal took much longer than expected as well. Maybe an hour after we ordered to be delivered. Our apps, clam chowder very good, lobster stew was good, muscles were also very good. Our meals - baked haddock - meh at best. It was so over cooked it was hard like a rock on the entire edge. The mediterranean pasta was made at best. As a local, I do enjoy going to the Arundel Wharf to meet with friends for dinner. You can't beat the location and they have tons of seating. The service is not always consistent, however, we come to this restaurant to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the view so I don't find that to be a big deal. The bar is a decent size and it is a nice place to relax and/or wait for a table. Bartenders are efficient and very communicative. That being said, I find the food to be average, especially for the price point. Their salads and small plates are very well done, but I find the other dishes to be mid. Like I said, I come here for the views and drinks. I would recommend this place to be a stop on a bar hop through dock square, but would save your true meal for a different restaurant. read more

Quaint place to have a bite to eat. The service good & the scenery gorgeous. We had ordered a clams dinner and a fish dinner. Hubby had said the clam chowder and clams dinner - "good"! This casual, waterside restaurant is currently celebrating its 50th year of operation and inexplicably this was our first time dining there. My wife chose crab stuffed haddock as an entree that was accompanied by mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. I chose Mediterranean shrimp scampi that included spinach, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, capers and feta over pasta. Great location and friendly service along with tasty food! First the location is amazing. It was hot as heck so we asked to sit inside and were seated along the river windows. Our server was prompt and got our drinks quickly. We ordered the crab Rangoon dip - tasty but nothing to write home about. I ordered the lobster roll with sweet potato fries. Wanted to sit outside on this warm October day and were glad we caught this place on their last day being open for the season. We asked for a place in the sun and were given a table with an amazing view awash with sun. Jesse, our server, greeted us pleasantly and set us up with drinks while we looked at the menu. A few GF options, some good salads, sandwiches and plenty of seafood. My companions decided on the Cobb salad with salmon ($12 up charge) and the Mediterranean wrap which was served with kettle chips. I ordered the tuna sashimi with sesame noodles. Salad - tasty and filling but light on salmon for the $12 up charge. Sandwich was yummy and they remembered the request to hold the onions. The tuna looked beautiful and was perfectly seared, but unfortunately the tuna was not fresh and I had to send it back. I got a bowl of chowder instead and it was fresh but a bit heavy on the celery for my tastes. The service was excellent and the view divine. Today (06/21) I attended This restaurant. We got our food and drinks, the waitress was very pushy and passive aggressive as soon as we finished eating, would come and grab a water cup (trying to force us to leave). Eventually after an hour (keep in mind there is no line outside and plenty of empty tables) a woman who seems to be the manager came and asked us to leave as they "had people waiting for an hour". I'm so shocked that this is okay behavior. Will not be returning here ever again. read more

I got the fried haddock sandwich which was okay. I liked the seasoning on the breading but it needed a bit more (and the fish itself was pretty meh). The french fries did need more seasoning. My family and I had a really nice experience at Arundel Wharf Restaurant! Our server, Grace, was excellent and made great recommendations from the menu. We had the blueberry sangria and blueberry lemonade which were delicious. We started with the lobster bisque - highly recommend, it had a perfect complex flavor and was one the best bisque/chowder/stew I've had in Maine this season. We also shared the crab Rangoon dip which was delicious - it's like a decomposed crab Rangoon with real crab meat. Definitely recommend this as an app! For my entree I had the triple decker lobster club that was loaded with lobster meat. The generous portion of lobster had a nice texture and flavor. If you like BLTs / clubs and lobster, you'll love this sandwich. The day we came it was raining outside, but the restaurant is in a beautiful location on the water. After escaping the congested Saturday afternoon downtown Kennebunkport streets, we discovered this hidden gem just off the main drag. We were promptly seated at our chosen table with a charming port view. Our smiling server, Ally, was professional and attentive as she took our orders. My wife chose a blackened haddock wrap special, opting for it baked instead of blackened, while I selected a 1.5 lb steamed lobster. After a nominal interval, our food arrived. I took a quick "before" portrait of my lobster with handcut fries and excellent coleslaw. My wife started digging into her wrap but discovered it was mistakenly blackened. Ally quickly offered a replacement and complimentary dessert to make amends. Unable to decide between bread pudding and blueberry pie, she brought BOTH, on the house. The pie (with ice cream) was great -- not too sweet or tart -- and warm. The new wrap came out shortly thereafter and was fine. Arundel Wharf Restaurant's staff, especially Ally, demonstrated exceptional hospitality and problem-solving skills. Totally solid meal and experience here, but ultimately not that much to write home about. The patio is very nice and beautiful, though there's a pretty strong breeze that can get cold if it's not super warm out. The staff was very friendly, and it took a while for the meal to come out. The cheeseburger was ok -- others had recommended it and it didn't live up to those standards. We had the halibut too, which was better. On the last night of our vacation my wife and I decided to go to Arundel Wharf for dinner. It was a little chilly but we asked to be seated on the patio, cause who doesn't want to be seated on the patio. The first rather strange thing was we were served water out of disposable plastic cups and everyone else around us had regular plastic cups. It didn't really bother me but it bothered my wife. We ordered the crab ragoon dip as an appetizer since I love crab ragoons. When it came out it looked amazing but it was not great. It just tasted like a warm cream cheese dip with a sweet chili added to it. No crab to be found at all. My wife got salmon and I got the filet. The filet was ok, lacked flavor. She said her salmon seemed somewhat raw in the middle. Very disappointing for our last meal in kennebunkport. On top of that it was the most expensive meal we had with no lobster at all. A little disappointed I have to say. This restaurant came highly recommended by locals no less. First off, can't beat the view. Unless the weather is uncooperative, sit outside! The food was pricey, which is not unexpected for a waterside tourist location, but the quality of the food fell short and did not match expectations. I ordered the fish and chips. The haddock came in chunks, which instantly tells me it's subpar scraps from the fish factory. A quality haddock should be one whole filet. Furthermore, the portion was half of what I'd get back home. It was breaded. Flavorless. Rubbery. Probably just a notch above microwaved Gorton's from the grocery store freezer. My wife got a bun less hamburger and sweet potato fries and fared better than I did, but still not worth the price. My aunt got the lobster roll and sweet potato fries and was fairly happy with choice. So for the quintessential Maine lobster roll, they deliver. So, overall we'll give it a 3. read more

We ventured out to Maine for our first travel experience and we got that right with Arundel Wharf. Friendly, welcoming and fully supportive of our use of a face masks, and seating still using social distancing guidelines and the staff was using their face masks. We look forward to "seeing" you next time! And the view - wow! we were in town on a Monday and many of the outside options were closed, one shop keeper told us to walk the extra block and enjoy ourselves on the desk - and we did! We had a wonderful evening at Arundel's. The outdoor seating will be difficult for parties of 7 or more so be prepared to possible split your group. The calamari were spot on as was the Crab Rangoon dip (killer). The lobster bake was great as were the fried clams, stuffed haddock with crab cake (some may find the crab cake a bit spicy). Before we were seated, we waited 15 minutes for a drink, that is a bit long don't you think while the bartender was tell the other bartender what to put in the mixed drinks she was making. Then the hostess was seating a foursome and one said can we sit near the water, well the hostess slammed down the menus and said, I guess! We got out meals I started out with clam chowder just warm, she had to take it back and reheat it. One in our party had steak tips, with a wire in her tips, the waitress said oh that's from the grill!! Well, she didn't eat it and they did take if off her bill. Will return. The restaurant is on a wharf that served as chandlery in her previous life. It has indoor dining section which opens after 5 pm and outdoor which is on the Kennebunk River, is where we've our lunch. The reception lady is bit stern but efficient. She helps out to clean tables. A good team player with cold demeanor. We were treated to a world class ballerina's performance. Thank you :)  The deck is on the narrow Kennebunk River that's filled with boats. A sailing school shares the parking lot with the restaurant. Boats, canoes and kayaks go by constantly. The service is good so is the food. My Riesling is on the sweet side; fried calamari has a few pickled Greek pepper which is an excellent addition. Salad feels old. Avocado lobster is very good. An enjoyable lunch in a tranquil setting. The restaurant is a few steps from the downtown. It's our first time to #41's home turf and are surprised at the hustle and bustle of their downtown, which isn't exactly small given to the 3,474 population (2010 census). People milling on the street are decidedly older (so are the diners ...). Later we saw a big group of tour buses (coaches) parked discretely by the Shack - wondering if they're retirees from some organizations - which may explain the over crowding ... Another restaurant Alisson's which is in the town square, with 575 ratings (this one has 127) but we liked our choice. read more
