So I went to Hector mostly because the Barbershop on Naval Base Rota started messing up what little hair I have left. I made an appointment with Hector (super easy) and went to the appointment he spoke English and made it super easy for me, I told him exactly what i wanted and he did it perfectly, he even trimmed my Eyebrows (didn't ask for it but saw they were crazy) and trimmed my mustache (again didn't ask for it but it needed to be trimmed) I can not stress how amazing the experience was and how he treats everyone that sits in the chairs. He treats you well not only as a customer but also as a friend. Also, the price is decent. Hector charges $25 for walk-in and $30 for appointment. I have done several walk-in cuts with Hector but I prefer the appointment now since you can save the waiting time, which typically ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour. He knows exactly what you need and works with you to exceed your expectations. He is extremely popular among college students from around the area and the shop is always filled with customers. I definitely recommend calling at least one week in advance to schedule an appointment (I think he charges a bit extra now, but worth it). Otherwise, be sure to sign onto the wait list when you arrive. I have never seen such a full barber shop. He's definitely known for his clean fades and really puts his all into each cut. This ain't your average barbershop. Hector, Victor, and Paco specialize in giving fades smoother than barbershops in West Hollywood (I've tried them). They're also cheaper than Floyd's and put more care into each haircut. Each haircut takes 30-40 minutes, they use heated shaving cream and a straight edge razor to shave the edges of the hairline, and they finish with a vibrating back massage. Haircuts went up to $25 for walk-ins, but honestly it's still a good deal compared to the quality and price of other places. Just be forewarned that since each haircut takes 40 minutes, you might be waiting a while if you sign up for a walk-in so it might behoove you to pay the extra $5 for an appointment. TL;DR - For $25, it's a quality place to get a haircut, but just beware of the long wait for walk-ins. read more

Hector the Barber is a wonderful little barber shop located close to USC. I had the pleasure of getting a haircut from Hector himself. I got a scissor cut on the top and a 2/fade on the sides. He took his time and made sure that everything was to my liking. Beyond that, he stayed open extra late just to accommodate me. When you plan on coming in, I recommend calling ahead to make an appointment. This will save you some time especially if you want Hector to cut your hair. The space is clean and inviting with a few snacks available if needed. I'm not sure if the shop has dedicated parking but I found it easy enough to grab a meter nearby. Since I've been in LA, Hector has been my hair's father; he takes care of it as if it were his child. They've upgraded to a new, more spacious shop, but the cuts are still quality, and they never forget the little things: the hot shaving cream, the bladed line-ups, and the post-cut massages. Just last month Hector blessed a friend of mine who was a Supercuts regular; he's hasn't been the same since and he loves the way he looks. Both the price and the wait are worth it. This was my first visit. Super chill location, probably due to COVID-19. By that, what I mean is, according to one of the Barber, pre-COVID had a week-out appointment time. But since things are slower and less students around, I was able to get an appointment next day. When I first arrived, there were three guys getting their cuts. But the shop was not pack or crowded (which I prefer because, again, COVID). The barbers were nice dudes. Respectful. The shop was clean and organized. Easy parking on the side. Everyone wore masks while cutting, and they provided hand sanitizer too. My cut was nice and came out as I was hoping. So, I'll def come back. Overall, good shop. Give them a try. If you make an appointment, you're golden, and you can expect one of the best cuts you'll get anywhere. Their one downfall is the irregularity of availability if you don't have an appointment, maybe there'll be three barbers shearing, or maybe there'll just be one.
