WORST SERVICE I…read morecalled a week in advance to get a text message claiming not to worry and call when I arrived to Hollywood beach (I'm from Delaware). I called this morning to be told the rentals ended at 4 and was never told I needed a reservation. I look for the shop around 2 (which I never found) and called the shop to be told he's currently teaching a lesson to a group and to meet him along the water. I went to the shore, he wasn't there. Call back, he tells us to meet at a marina, he's not there. I walked up and down both Hollywood Lakes, spoke with Skipper multiple times to never find him. I gave up by 3:30 seeing the place closed at 4 and never received a call or apology.

I felt that this may have been a scam, and I'm pretty sure it is since everyone else's reviews had them meeting up at other places while the confirmation I received said to meet up at the address provided, which is literally someone's house. So, this is kind of a follow up to my review of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. While the park has…read moremany things to explore, the kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals are handled by Park and Ocean. Located a short walk from the first parking lot, Park and Ocean provides some much needed shade and refreshments during the South Florida summer. I had never been here before, so I arrived a little early to check the place out and reserve kayaks for my friends and I. The young lady at the desk was extremely helpful in explaining all the possible options, safety measures, and pricing. She let me know how to get down to the launch area and that there would be lockers for the things we didn't want to get wet, which turned out to be extremely helpful. We went down to the launch and were saddled with great kayaks. The lake is pretty much a straight line, so it's very good for practicing, beginners, and nice scenery. There is a little secret passage which can provide needed shade as well. We planned to have lunch there, but by the time we got done and completely rained on, the restaurant wasn't open yet. So, we used the walkway to access the beach until it was time. The restaurant boasts great local beer on tap and delicious cocktails, as well as elevated bar food and seafood options. I really enjoyed the conch fritters, which were well seasoned and flavorful. Be careful if you don't like spicy food. The young lady who was so helpful in the morning with kayak bookings also told us that the park puts on a reptile exhibition at one, so we were able to take the kids to check out. I will be back soon to try out their other menu items and drinks, and practice with my new paddle board. Hope to see you there.

Their website…read moreis a bit confusing and it appeared we had to complete a boating certification and spent some time that morning completing it before we arrived. Turns out it was only for jet skies. Regardless, we had fun, stayed safe, and used our newly acquired PWC knowledge to quiz each other while on the water. If you are renting jet skies, complete the test before going and don't give the employees a hard time about it... it keeps everyone safe, and more selfishly, it speeds up the line to get equipment.

The kayaks were clean and in great condition, and the staff was very helpful in getting us set up and answering our questions. We had a wonderful time paddling through Las Olas and Fort Lauderdale, enjoying the beautiful scenery and waterways. It's affordable and a fun little excursion, even for a local Floridian like me, not just for tourists.
