It was good, until they didn't tell or explain to me that my insurance is out of network out of the blue. They should've known that beforehand since they do 'authorization'!! I had to pay double the amount from my pocket. It's shady! When I heard $1200 out-of-pocket cost with my insurance,I was??? They never explained the cost up front. I looked up my insurance details, and when they called me for a cleaning, it was already out of network, which was more than 3 months before the Crown happened. Here is an update: The crown I got, I paid more than $1200 (out of pocket), which I mentioned above. 2 other dentists said, "You need to redo the crown, the middle part is too thin, so it will break eventually." Now this newest crown tooth hurts, and I went to see the dentist. They said I need a 'root canal'. Can you believe this? I can't. Other crowns are slowly getting problems, and it's less than 4 years old. These crowns maxed out my insurance allowance, and I had to pay more than $600 each. I can't talk about the billing problem here, since my review is becoming longer and longer. The Pyon dentist said, "I'm really good at doing crowns; they will last more than 10 years." I believed it. I remember, when she was putting on the crown, she ground a lot, I wondered.....it's a custom-made..why did it happen...?? Don't be fooled by all the great reviews; I was one of them. read more

I saw Dr. Pyon for the first time yesterday, and she is by far the best dentist I have ever seen! Her office is modern and bright, her receptionists are efficient and had no problem answering any questions I had. Dr. Pyon's dental assistant Lady is so sweet and mothering, using a tone that immediately put me at ease. I liked Dr. Pyon as soon as she said hello, she discussed all of my concerns without judgement. She is as gentile as a lamb, the exam and cleaning was as easy and stress free as could be. Dr. Pyon is absolutely wonderful! She's taken care of my teeth before i was pregnant, during my pregnancy and after my pregnancy! See very attentive and never makes you wait long. She spaced out her appointments so you get maximum privacy. Explains to you what you need done, what's going on with your teeth and what would be the most cost effective and best approach. Her cleanings are never rough and definitely not short. She constantly asks whether you are comfortable and care about how you feel. She is not one of those dentist that just have the tech do the x-ray, looks at them and they just gets to doing and then cleaning. Never had an issue with scheduling, she opens late two nights a week and responds to emails tooo! The best dentist I've ever been too. Definitely recommend Dr. Pyon!! She is absolutely amazing. I was suffering from extreme pain due to my wisdom tooth coming in and after reading her reviews, I inquired about an appointment online. The receptionist called me as soon as they opened! They fit me in the same day and were extremely welcoming. I get severe anxiety when going to the dentist so I truly appreciated how patient and caring Dr. Pyon and her staff were. They all kept reassuring me and making sure I was comfortable before beginning the procedure. Dr. Pyon works fast. My wisdom tooth was removed and the procedure was over before I knew it. Very supportive environment. The office was bright, clean and welcoming. The say ahh neon sign was the icing for me. Even the receptionists were warm and friendly. After taking a two year sabbatical from dental care (or is it three years?), I went to visit Dr. Pyon. I'm not gonna lie -- Chris L from Battery Park City is pretty much spot on. What a great dentist! Please don't judge me, but so far, I've gotten a pulpotomy, a couple fillings, a cap (to complete a root canal), and an Invisalign consultation. All of these treatments were performed with minimal discomfort. Plus, during each of my visits, Dr. Pyon allowed me to play my own music via Spotify, a huge benefit for those who don't want to hear Top 40 while they are getting pulpotimized. After going to Dr. Pyon, I have absolutely no tooth sensitivity anymore, and my cap feels just like my real tooth used to, except without the bacterial decay. Also, I'm looking forward to finally getting Invisalign. On a serious note, Dr. Pyon is an outstanding dentist who made me feel comfortable at all times. It also meant a lot that she followed up with me after each of my procedures and was extremely responsive to every question that I emailed her. I have been reading YELP reviews since the company's inception in late 2004, but very rarely am I inspired to write a review myself. In fact, this is only the 3rd one I've ever written. However, after visiting with Dr. Pyon twice over the past month, I feel it necessary to publicize the fact that she is far and away the most professional, skilled, and trustworthy dentist I have ever worked with. Allow me to explain why I feel this way, and why I have solicited Dr. Pyon to be the dentist for every employee in my company (I run a consulting company with a staff of 20+). I come from a family of doctors. Almost everyone in my immediate family is a master surgeon, clinician, scientist or MD of some sort. From a young age, I have been taught to inquire about any medical procedure being performed on me in painstaking detail. Before meeting Dr. Pyon, I met and rejected 5 dentists who were unable to demonstrate their knowledge to me sufficiently. One of them is a Fifth Avenue celebrity dentist who has a 6-month waiting list and charged me $400/visit (no insurance accepted). Still not good enough. When I met Dr. Pyon for a consultation, not only was she extremely knowledgeable, she patiently tolerated my barrage of questions, answering calmly and precisely. It was clear to me from that moment on that if I ever became anxious in the chair during a procedure, she would provide the serenity I needed. I eventually met Dr. Pyon for x-rays, a cleaning, and a teeth-whitening procedure. All were extraordinarily painless and quick. When it comes to pain tolerance, I am about as fragile as an adult child of alcoholic parents, so do not take my description lightly. In addition, the entire visit from the time you enter her office until your departure is as brief as possible. Dr. Pyon has the most modern check-in service, equipment, and works very efficiently/effectively. She is NOT one of those dentists who has their assistant do half the work or one who leaves you in the room alone for 10 minutes while he calls the cleaners to see if his suit is ready. Dr. Pyon gives you her undivided attention. She also followed up with me within 24 hours of each of my visits and made herself accessible through phone and email. Finally, over the past 20 years, I have had 10+ fillings, 8 teeth extractions, braces, retainer work, 1 root canal, and countless x-rays and cleanings. My only regret is that I didn't meet Dr. Pyon sooner. As you may have gathered by now, I am a notoriously selective and discerning individual, especially when it comes to health care. Suffice to say, if Dr. Pyon passes my hyper-critical assessment, she will pass damn near everyone else's. I would not be surprised if she was the dentist that other dentists trusted with their teef. From the welcoming staff at the front desk to the dental services done by Dr. Pyon herself, the experience was great, which is not usually a word that describes dental visits. Clean office and short wait time. It is really great that you get access to the dentist and not an assistant. Dr. Pyon is warm, patient, and professional. As it was my first visit she took the time to make me comfortable before cleaning my teeth. She did a thorough cleaning, and she also explained my X-rays as well.
