You walk into the courtyard of Heidi's Jam Factory, and there is outdoor seating, a mini waterfall, lots of greenery, so many tiny birds, and a water station with metal cups. The bottom level is an ice cream shop, the rest is the factory. Today, let's go into the ice cream shop. From the outside, the building looks like a beautiful, old, rundown, tall factory...from the inside, you would think you are in a different dimension. You walk in, and your lungs are filled with the sweet smell of homemade ice cream. You also notice there is no music, the shop is playing only the sounds of other conversations, it comforts you. There is a pretty pink mural that looks like gooey shapes in the doorway to the toilets; speaking of toilets, they have two clean comfortable toilets right though that very doorway! But right in front of you is the ice cream counter, it looks so pretty. They have at least ten flavors today, all so colorful and not very common. Up above the person who is serving you is a comforting wooden sign with the amounts, prices, and containers. There are tiny sample spoons in front of you. A little farther down the counter is the toppings station with Heidi's jam, olive oil, sprinkles ect. A little farther from the toppings station is the checkout! If you turn your head about 90 degrees to the right, from the checkout, you will see the shelf where they sell merch and jam, and when you turn around, you will see the few tables they have inside. I wish I could describe what the upstairs jam factory looks like, and smells like, but there is an "employee only" sign where you go upstairs. Maybe one day I will find out, but for today, this is the end! read more

Heidi's has been on my bucket list to try for a while and we finally made it! Such a cute little spot, plenty of inside and outside seating! Service was very kind and helpful with choosing flavors and letting us sample a few different flavors before picking! We tried 3 flavors Triple Chocolate Brownie Chip Vanilla Fudge Chunk Piñon Brittle And Creme Fraiche Wild Blueberry The Triple Chocolate brownie chip was a hit with our toddler My husband enjoyed the Creme Fraiche Wild Blueberry I tried a bite it was yummy. The Vanilla Fudge Chunk Piñon Brittle was delicious but did not mix well with the triple chocolate brownie would probably not order together again. Both delish on their own just not together. Highly recommend trying I do believe flavors do rotate not sure how often but you can check the website for current options! Great local ice cream shop! read more

Lovely place in a relatively unappealing industrial area that's actually pretty easy to access. Don't let that worry you (as it did my wife), Heidi's Ice Cream Shop is wonderfully situated with good on-street parking, nice indoor areas to sit and a really thoughtfully designed outdoor patio area that turned out to be a delightful place to eat an ice cream. (And it was being used - a quiet and in-every-way diverse wholesome crowd was enjoying the Saturday evening - it was one of the nicest vibes I've felt in Albuquerque lately.) And what ice cream! Served at the perfect temperature for eatability without a mess, there are cerebral and interesting flavors but not so many as to cause difficulties by slowing down the ordering. The three I tasted were (baklava, Adobe Road and green chile pecan) were so nice - great milkfat level, not overly sweet but with rich, vibrant flavors. Service was - believe it or not - every bit as stellar as the rest of the experience. The two young counterpeople were on-the-ball, friendly and so, so helpful. What a wonderful treat: I am sorry to only be discovering this wonderful place now. I eat ice cream so infrequently that I really want my experiences to be a treat, and I just can't think of anywhere serving ice cream in the metro area that provides a treat as delightful as we experienced at Heidi's. We will for-sure be back; I just don't see any reason for me to get ice cream anywhere else in the Albuquerque area. read more

Ice cream was delicious, the atmosphere in the patio seating area was incredible, and staff were very patient and understanding to first timers. Not too terribly expensive for the quality of what you get, as well as a clean and cute environment with restrooms available. Fall weather is slowly showing up, so might as well enjoy ice cream before it gets too cold. So we ventured to Heidi's Ice Cream shop for the first time. The place is a nice little refuge among the vast industrial area around it. People attending the shop were quite friendly and helpful. They saw our indecisive faces and offered the perfect solution, a flight with 4 flavors. So we followed their wise suggestions. On my end, I had the brown butter piñon, yuzu black sesame caramel, passion fruit cheesecake crumble, and jasmine tea and honeycomb. The range of flavors was restricted but there were some interesting notes in each. The yuzu gave a note of brightness with its citrus. The sesame gave a bit of roasted smokiness with a nice textured the piñon gave more texture and crunch. As for the Jasmin tea, it brought the whole ice cream to a whole new level. Hubby had the crème fraiche wild blueberry, the adobe road, and a triple chocolate flavor to add to the tasting. He also preferred the Jasmin tea, the adobe was second due to the spicy notes, the triple chocolate was scrumptious, and last was the blueberry. Overall, this was a nice place with friendly people who knew how to help us out. The creativity in flavors was interesting and the Jasmin tea was an absolute favorite. read more

This is possibly my favorite ice cream place in all of the ABQ area and maybe even beyond! Amazingly unique flavors that are all done very well and often highlight the local flavors of New Mexico. My favorite flavors include Raspberry, Matcha Mint chip, Brown Butter Pinon & Ube when its available. I've heard from family that the jams are also good. Amazing flavors, quick and friendly service, and amazing outdoor patio really made the whole space come together! It was nice sitting outside to get a little of the warm weather while we ate our ice cream. We tried a few different flavors but I went for a locally inspired flavor called the Adobe Road: Chocolate ice cream with candied pecans, chocolate chunks, and Chile marshmallow. We should file this in the "if you know, you know category." It's a cute, gleaming place in the middle of a warehouse area. The line can get busy but the staff is fast and extremely efficient. They're also really nice. I almost didn't order an afogato because I thought it might take a while for them to pull the shot, but it came out quickly. I had it with the fudge browing ice cream which was delicious, like a fancy desert. My wife had the the baklava ice cream which was also yummy. How have I not reviewed Heidi's before? I've done them for Yelp events but not as a regular consumer, apparently. I saw their new crème fraiche blueberry on Instagram and had to try it. The mix of rich, tangy crème fraiche and sweet, juicy, blueberry swirl was so delicious! I paired it with their lemon lavender sorbet, which was beautifully tart with just the right amount of lavender. My husband also had crème fraiche blueberry but went for Adobe Road as his second scoop since rocky road is his favorite. The red chile mini marshmallows and candied pecans with that rich chocolate ice cream is fantastic. The red chile marshmallows mixed into that creamy chocolate were a fun kick, and I'd love to go back to try the new Lemon Basil flavor. Nothing beats a good meal like a great dessert. Even in the low 30's it's a good day for ice cream. We find ourselves in a light industrial area looking for ice cream. We find it in front of a Jam Factory. It's open and surprisingly busy. Seems we weren't the only ice cream lovers out today. We pass a vacant porch area, everyone is inside. Plan B - get ice cream sit in the car. 2 cases 16 flavors most of which are not in my ice cream vocabulary. After some time I decide 1/2 Baklava (pieces of baklava in vanilla) & 1/2 Wild Blueberry Crème Fraiche (blueberry ribbon in thick cream) My wife opt for 1/2 Earl Grey (made with tea) & 1/2 Adobe Road (think Rocky Road without all the nuts). We were driving around looking for some yummy dessert and Heidi's Ice Cream Shop popped up on our search so we decided to venture out and go find this hidden little Gem. Upon arriving we noticed that it was located inside the front part of "The Jam Factory." As we were sampling different ice cream flavors the gal behind the counter was telling us how they started the business first with freshly made Jams and then expanded into opening the ice cream shop. The shop is so cute and cozy and has nice indoor seating as well as outdoor seating underneath a huge metal awning. The ice cream was so creamy and delectable and they had some very nice flavors and some great choices. You could also add toppings and even fresh Jam from their factory to your ice cream if you like. I had the Adobe Road with some coffee ice cream that was so incredible. The adobe road was a mixture of chocolate, marshmallow and a hint of red chile if I recall correctly and it was fantastic. The coffee was also perfect in flavor not too strong - just right. My husband also loved his blueberry ice cream - he kept mentioning how creamy it was. I visited Heidi's for the first time this afternoon due to a Yelp event. We got a flight (four mini scoops of various flavors which is great for folks that can't decide which flavor to get) with fresh waffle cone pieces sprinkled on top. All four flavors were delicious: the strawberry mint sorbet was crazy-fresh and light, the strawberry ice cream was tangy and creamy, the chocolate ice cream was deep and sweet and the adobe chocolate (chocolate with red chile marshmallows) was unique and indisputably New Mexican. This is couture ice cream! The waffle cone pieces were buttery and crunchy, the perfect complement. I also picked up a chocolate covered chocolate bar, a pint of cranberry strawberry sorbet and two containers of jam. I can't speak to the tastiness of these items, but it's good to know you can pick up some items to share with folks at home. I'm stoked to find a local jam dealer, and can't wait to crack open a jar (I got strawberry and blueberry). The lady behind the counter was very helpful, offering multiple tasters and even apologizing for the lack of take home accessories for the flight (they wrapped it all in Saran Wrap and it made it home in perfect condition). There's a gracious oversized porch for lingering with friends, and the entire property is smartly surrounded by an industrial black metal fence, bringing an upscale, country feel to an otherwise industrial block. After a fun afternoon swimming with the youngest grandson, we stopped by Heidi's ice cream. I have been meaning to stop by forever. We ordered the flight of ice cream. We got chocolate, raspberry, adobe road and lavender lemon. They were all amazing and full of flavor. The lavender lemon was super refreshing on this hot day.
