    Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes

Heirloom at The Study is a super cute restaurant with gorgeous decor that makes it feel a bit fancy (and very instagrammable). I had the blueberry buttermilk pancakes, which were good but forgettable, especially for the price. Staff was really sweet and welcoming, but honestly, the vibe outshined the food.

We stopped in to try their brunch menu and really enjoyed our time there. We were a party of 9, and they were able to accommodate us in a separate room which made it nice. For my meal I had the burger and my wife had the eggs and prosciutto. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Burger that was small in proportion to bun and marginal quality. I've had better burgers at a fast food place.

Should have looked at the reviews BEFORE going. Local family said let's go here, it's good. WRONG so disappointing, they won't be back either. It started with the server going to seat a party of 4 at a 2 top, that should've been the first sign. Server was horrible, we asked for lemons, twice, finally we went to bar to get them after 20 minutes. She took our order we didn't see her again until 15 minutes after food was dropped off......then she brought the catsup after we were done eating, at that point drinks were empty long before she came by. Had to track down another server to get the check and cash out, because we never saw her again. Several other patrons were also having to walk up to other people to get their checks. Severe lack of training and unprofessional attitudes. Our lunch guest wanted an omelette, but with peppers instead of mushrooms and the server said the chef is really particular about his food and he doesn't allow changes. That speaks volumes about this restaurant. Slow service, slow kitchen, over 1.75 hours for a marginal dining experience.........and can't order what you want? The arrogance of a largely empty 3 star rated restaurant is laughable.

Heirloom in New Haven has a beautiful, quiet setting with large windows that brighten the space. Our server was kind, but the food was disappointing. I really wanted to love it, but the flavors and dishes didn't live up to the atmosphere.

Heirloom, located inside The Study at Yale, transforms local produce and fresh ingredients into truly delicious dishes. I started with the burrata and the lobster toast featuring their signature lobster salad--both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the braised chicken tagliatelle. I expected a sauce, but it was a drier preparation, with the flavors coming from the mushrooms and herbs. As soon as I saw the chocolate cake on the menu, I knew I had to try it--it was rich and indulgent, served with salted caramel ice cream, Nutella, and a white chocolate center.

Had brunch here yesterday for a friend's 40th birthday. Food was decent and the service was phenomenal. The vibe is very modern and sleek, perfect atmosphere for college students and young professionals. I had a passionfruit mimosa, oysters and lobster toast. For dessert I split an apple crumble with a friend. As a note, this restaurant adds anchovies to the top of their Caesar salads, just so you're aware (in case you don't like them). At the end of the meal they brought us out some dessert to celebrate our friend's birthday.

Absolutely fell in love with Heirloom when we visited for brunch! The sun soaked space was exactly the vibe we were looking for, and the food was phenomenal. I couldn't resist the French toast with butterscotch bananas, and my husband enjoyed the prosciutto and eggs. We were so glad we splurged for an appetizer with the warm ricotta dip with truffle because it was SO good! The server convinced us to get dessert, and I'm so happy he did! It's easy to see why they're so famous for tneir apple doughnuts. Great drinks and very attentive service. It was casual yet classy in there. It was easy to tell that everything was locally sourced because the food was all so high quality. I would love to go back for lunch or dinner!

What didn't we get at Heirloom. The fresh oysters are a really good size and the mignonette was the perfect acidity. The braised beef cheek entree over the risotto was a huge standout to us! Our server was very nice and attentive.

I came for breakfast, and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I had the avocado toast, which was fine, but underseasoned, and the egg was a bit undercooked (even for sunny side up). The portion also seemed quite small for the price, and the side "salad" was just a pile of dressed greens that weren't even cut into bite-sized pieces. I watched two other tables pick at the pancakes, and the potatoes that I saw looked completely bland and unseasoned. The service was also surprisingly slow, even though they didn't seem very crowded. On the whole, three star food at four star prices gets two stars from me.

I arrived in New Haven at nearly 9PM on Super Bowl Sunday. The streets were quiet and my stomach was growling. The kitchen was close to closing but they graciously gave me one minute to put in an order. I chose a burger and was glad I did. It was a very good burger! I returned on Monday night for drinks with a friend and received the same courteous service from the bartender. I'd gladly return to Heirloom for dinner or cocktails.

Came for brunch yesterday and it was okay. The service was hit or miss. Everyone was nice it was just a little weird and when it was slow, it was slow. I love that they have a separate brunch menu which I was having a hard time finding in downtown New Haven. We got a few things to share so let's get into that. First the Warm Ricotta: it was ok. I think it was missing an acid or something to it. It was just one note, and lacked a punch of flavor. The Eggs Benedict: also alright. Got it with lox which was good, and so was the egg, but I didn't like the bread it came on. I think it was a biscuit... it was just so soft and wasn't a great texture for the whole bite. The side salad it came with was also a little sad, but I liked the dressing. The pancakes: best dish we ordered. Great size and tasty. Cooked well. We got blueberry which I wish there were more in there. I recommend getting a side berry bowl because that's what we did so we could have more fruit with it. We ended up pouring the rest of our berries on top which was much better. Having said that, we actually ordered a berry and a fruit bowl. The berries were good and the fruit was ok. There were the standard honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes. The melons were tasteless but not the resturant's fault. Not a bad experience!

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!
