Our server was amazing! The atmosphere is wonderful as well. We got the queso and it was good. The pineapple and cranberry margaritas were GREAT! I got the Birria tacos and I do wish they were more flavorful because they were bland but I would definitely give it another try. My partner got a number of tacos and he said he wishes they had some more flavor too, but they were still good. read more

Seriously the best tacos I've ever had! This place never disappoints, I swear. I have driven a few times now from Atlanta because no where else makes them like Heirloom. This time I ordered Birria quesatacos + guac, flautas, a steak quesadilla and a hot fried chicken taco. Everything was so fresh and I'm glad I ordered enough to bring home some leftovers! The hot fried chicken taco and the vegan taco are packed full with flavor. The horchatas were ok, but the food is solid.

This is not your run of the mill Sysco Foods Mexican Restaurant. This place is a Southeastern US foodie destination, well worth the drive for those not native to Jacksonville. These folks put in real effort, and you can taste that effort in in every bite. From the homemade tortillas, to the slow cooked well-seasoned meats, to the fresh garnishments and salsas, these taco artisans make some of the best Tex-Mex food you will find in the Southeast. For first timers, I recommend trying the brisket or chicken tacos on the homemade corn tortillas. If all you've ever had are commercially made corn tortillas, you absolutely must go try one of their fresh corn tortillas, if nothing else. It's a total game changer. Also, do yourself a favor and get a couple ears of their creamy, cheesy, citrus spritzed Elote...but maybe bring an extra shirt to change into afterwards!!! If meat ain't your thang, they also offer exciting options for vegetarians. I reluctantly tried the chick pea taco, and this meat-lover was more than impressed. Everyone can definitely find something delicious on this small but well thought out menu. I can't wait to taste it all! I rate Heirloom Tacos all the stars in the sky. I can't imagine tacos being any better than this. They deserve to have a mile long line from open to close every day. The fact that they don't goes to show that we aren't worthy of this Taco Heaven! My wife and I ate here again last week and have now tried almost all of the tacos. All of them are very good but the Carne Asada is awesome! Best taco I have ever had anywhere bar none! They do not have a large menu with a huge variety of sides and desserts and other distractions but instead they focus on a nice selection of items and do them phenomenally well. My wife really enjoys the regular tacos and says those are probably her favorite and the fried chicken is her second favorite. My second favorite is the Al Pastor, pork with pineapple is always hard to be and with their seasonings and in this format is excellent. If you have never eaten here definitely get a Carne Asada and an Al Pastor. Then add anything else that looks good to you on the menu and I promise you won't be disappointed. There are still a few items on the menu I have not tried and I can't wait to try them in the near future, along with a couple of Carne Asada's of course! I will sum up my review by saying that while relatively straightforward and basic (in nothing but a good way!) this is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have ever had the privilege of eating in. This place has the best Mexican food. It's a traditional style (onion and cilantro), house made tortillas, etc. The barbacoa taco is downright amazing, you should give it a try. Get some of the green salsa (salsa verde) to put on your taco. It's as fresh as can be and not hot. This restaurant is in a repurposed fire station. They have indoor and outdoor seating. AND, they have a PROPER selection of good alcoholic beverages. Seriously, give this place a try. read more

My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night. We came in at 7:40 PM. The hours on the door said they close at 9 PM. we thought we had time. Since the remodeling, it is now like fast food where you order at the window and get your own drinks at a drink fountain. before the remodeling, they used to give you complementary duros with your meal. now, you don't get anything complementary with your meal and I was very sad about that. The workers weren't very friendly. They didn't seem like they wanted us there or our business at all. the food did come out pretty quickly and the food did taste really good. my boyfriend ordered 2 meats though and only got 1, and this place is way to expensive to receive less than what you paid for. When we were getting ready to leave, we wanted to get refills for the drinks we paid for. They apparently closed at 8 PM even though the door said 9 and they already turned off the drink machine so we couldn't get a refill for drinks WE PAID FOR. Why couldn't they wait to turn off the drink machine until after we left or at least ask us if we wanted a refill before they turned it off? They had no courtesy for us. we will not be returning. the only good thing about it is that the food came out fast and tasted good. read more

My daughter and I ate here a week ago. Great food much better than the fast food options in Jacksonville, al. The price was competitive when you consider you pay almost $10 for a combo at some fast food restaurants in town, while this food seems so much better. I waited 40 mins to get my food which I had called in and then had to ask about it. After waiting 30 of those 40 mins I was told they were out of half my order. This isn't the first time the wait has be RIDICULOUS. They offered me a free drink as a replacement but that didn't equal out at all. I was so irritated I took it and left. Last time I'll be going. I'll just order somehwere else next time. If you do try it, hope you have a better experience. Doubt it. read more

Finally had a chance to stop and get some Heirloom Taco- it did NOT disappoint. Tried the gulf shrimp, brisket, carne asada, and al pastor tacos and the elote- they were all delicious, especially the gulf shrimp and al pastor tacos. The corn tortillas the tacos came in were amazing. The tres leche cake was seriously divine- one of the best I've ever had. Staff was super friendly and they brought me a bag of some delicious crunchy snack with lime juice and chili powder while I was waiting which was an awesome surprise. So glad to see this place packed- can't wait to come back again and again. Hope the chicken mole reappears on the menu, but even if not, enough tasty things to keep me coming back! read more
