It was early in the day and I was looking for a shop before a last minute date, hoping to find something unique as the person I was courting. had went to two local shops to find out they were closed. I then found Helen's online and called to check to see if they were open before heading over. I was greeted with Mike's very welcoming voice telling me they were very much open! I headed on over to be met with Mikes kind presence and was led up to the shop. their selection of flowers are so beautiful. The way Mike & Helen carry themselves is outstanding. You can feel it in the room. The energy I felt in their space made me feel like I was at home. Mike attempted to provide me the flowers I had picked out for a cost that was more than affordable. You can feel the love and passion for curation. Which is rare to come by. I could not accept such a price. That was my recent experience with Helen's Flower Shop. I called the shop one morning after learning a friend was in the hospital. I spoke with Mike who listened to my interest and needs and immediately assured me that he could provide the flowers I wanted (sunflowers) and a same day delivery. Mike didn't try to squeeze me into a set price box or arrangement type, but listened and suggested what he thought would fit my needs. We agreed upon a mostly sunflower arrangement with a mix of filler colors. And the same day delivery to the Oakland Hospital was no problem at all. Mike also texted confirmation of delivery. I needed a nice floral arrangement for a girl but her favorite flowers are pink tulips. At this point, I didn't realize they were difficult to get in August. After emergency surgery at the downtown Oakland regional spinal surgical unit, I came out with a smile on my face for fantastic care, caring nursing staff and wonderful doctors and PA (physician assistances) making sure all went well. I wanted to do an appreciation to the hospital floor staff who took care of me 24/7 for 4 nights from the emergency room to the 8th floor wing for surgical recovery. So I found the nearest flower shop near Oakland Kaiser, talked to the owner and he was so kind as to recommend the flowers, the arrangement and chocolates to deliver. He knew exactly what to arrange and when to deliver the bouquet of rFlowers to the 8th floor back in August 2023. The value was average to high cost for a large bouquet of mixed flowers so that the entire floor and the afternoon shift can appreciate the flowers/chocolates. I would do it again with Helen's flower shop if I happen to go back for additional surgery. Oh yes, after 4 months from the date of the surgery, I can walk 1.5 miles without a cane. read more

Unbelievably amazing customer service and experience ordering from this flower shop!! Thanks to Mike for going above and beyond when I made a blunder in my order. I placed a delivery order and input the wrong address - my friend had moved over the summer and I didn't ask for her address because I had wanted the gift to be a surprise! Mike called me directly after Helen's Flowers driver had gone into the apartment building and learned my friend didn't live there anymore. Then he waited all afternoon for me to hear from my friend and confirm her address. He even joked that I would have to pay them $100 per additional mile of delivery (we all need a bit of extra humor right now)! It was late in the afternoon when I was able to get back to Mike with the correct address. The flowers were delivered to my friend promptly at the correct address. She was thrilled - as am I! Mike quickly answered my call at 1pm on a weekday and confirmed they could accommodate same-day delivery to Kaiser Oakland ICU. I mentioned the blue/white bouquet on the website's Get Well section and requested "masculine" styled flowers for my best friends husband (i.e. not a dozen red roses). I planned to order a bouquet around $60 not including delivery. For $70 total Mike promised an arrangement even more beautiful than the website sample -- a mix of blues/greens/whites that the recipient would love. I dictated a nice note, told him the the hospital room number, and finally gave my credit card info after confirming delivery for the same afternoon. Less than 5 minutes later I called to add another arrangement for delivery. Why not? Mike seemed trustworthy and I figured there's no such thing as too many flowers when it comes to bringing hospital room cheer. Another custom note and another promise of beautiful flowers delivered that day. New total came to $125 -- he gave me a break on 2 bouquets and I saved money on delivery! Later that afternoon my girlfriend texted me: "look at these beautiful flowers. Thank you so much, they have brightened our day more than you could know ." She was so excited she snapped a pic before even taking them out of the box! The arrangements were perfect for the occasion -- a lovely, well-received gift that breathed life into the stale room on the ICU floor. I'm very happy with Helen's Shop and their service. I'm not super sophisticated when it comes to describing my flower needs, but happily, I was able to give Mike enough material to work with. It was a pleasant, quick back-and-forth, and the result was on point. (Don't bother with their online ordering; the pictures look generic and uninspiring; just call Mike and I suspect you'll like what you end up with.) The price seemed appropriate, and the flowers were delivered later in the day to the surprise and delight of my wife in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. My husband ordered flowers for me from Helen's to be delivered to me on Mother's Day. It was my very first Mother's Day celebration. Let me start by saying that the flowers I received were beautiful but look absolutely nothing like the picture that he ordered online. My husband was very dissatisfied with Helen's because he requested for the flowers to be delivered exactly on Mother's Day but instead they delivered it the day before without even telling him first. We didn't feel that it was right for them to do that. I understand that it was Mother's Day and it was a very weekend for deliveries but they should have at least called to ask if it was okay to be delivered a day early instead of just randomly showing up. The flowers were very small and didn't look anything like the picture shown on their website. The vase that the flowers came in were also too big for the flowers. I placed the flowers next to a roll of paper towels to show how small they were. The quality of the flowers were nice though.
