We have a big skylight that made design a challenge but we worked through it and got 25 panels on the roof. I appreciated the options of panel wattage and quality and we went for the best because of our relatively limited space. Besides the skylight I was deadset on not seeing the panels from the street so we worked through that as well. They gave me a proposal for Tesla Powerwalls but the business case didn't add up because LADWP was still giving full value for selling back to the grid unlike other utilities. I appreciated the option and discussion. I was very engaged in the whole process and it worked smoothly and we are generating over 30kWh a day if I'm reading my Enphase site correctly. read more

This company is deceptive, disorganized, and outright abusive in its tactics. I signed up months in advance for their so-called "free battery program" after seeing it advertised on Instagram. I completed all required paperwork and did everything on my end to qualify. Two weeks ago, I received a call from one of their operators who aggressively tried to pressure me into purchasing 21 additional solar panels--on top of the 24 I already have installed. They insisted this was now necessary to "qualify," despite this never being mentioned before. It was a blatant bait-and-switch. To make matters worse, just last week I received a letter from my electric company informing me that Helios never submitted the paperwork in time, and I no longer qualify for the program. This is a textbook case of negligence and consumer abuse. As a disabled veteran, I was relying on the backup battery system to power essential medical equipment during outages. Helios's careless actions have put my health at risk. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT trust this company. Their business practices are dishonest and predatory. I have been working with Helios Solar and, specifically, Taylor Krause, for the last 18 months on our solar install in Los Angeles. Helios themselves have been outstanding. Unfortunately they osutsourced the installation to a company that was having trouble meeting the increased demand for solar following the recent federal incentives, and that company has, in spite of their best efforts, been lackluster. We had our 18 panel install finished about two weeks ago. The experience could not have been any better. Customer service, quality of workmanship and price are all excellent. When we met with Taylor, he explained the system, how it should be sized and everything that is involved clearly and in depth. We also needed a new roof and a main panel upgrade. Taylor recommended a roofer who replaced the roof within a week. Before we signed with Helios Energy and their installers, we interviewed three other companies and received quotes. It turned out that Helios was very competitive and by far the most trustworthy company. We found some major problems with two other installers when we looked into their license and insurance status. Helios Energy won our business in a landslide! We interviewed 3 different solar energy companies, and I had done my due diligence by researching a ton of different options and vendors. When I met Taylor, I had a lot of questions because Helios isn't a traditional company with in-house installers or financing. But my concerns were alleviated when he explained the process and what his company model provided for our system. Taylor was able to secure not only the best pricing for what I wanted in my home, but his financing ability was by far and away the best of the options I had looked into. We are paying almost the exact same amount for Solar as we were for our traditional electricity, and the investment we're making in future energy for our home made this an easy choice for us. The installation itself was taxing and not without incident, but that was a result of the city where I live and the difficult inspectors who had to sign off on the system. The installation company - Plug It In solar - was communicative, followed up with issues and delays, and was super friendly and easy to work with. This is my first Yelp review after being an account holder for at least 10 years. First, let me say that I had been looking for a new solar system for our house for several years by the time I met the Helios Energy team. I spoke to all the large companies, as well as some of the small ones I see here on Yelp. None could provide the system I wanted, which included a purchase (vs. lease) of the panels and equipment, as well as "off the grid" capabilities provided by storage batteries in the event of blackouts, etc. Taylor (Crouse) at Helios helped put that exact system together, which included two Tesla Powerwalls. Helios and its business partner, Plug-it-in-Solar, handled everything, from design, permits, installation, to applying for the rebates CA utilities are offering. Of all the solar contractors who bid the job, he was the only one to promise a quick turnaround, then he surprised me again by actually delivering a quality job faster than promised. My wife was impressed with the installers; they were fast and efficient, but still took time to answer all the questions she asked. They were in and out in a day, and the only hold up on the job was waiting for the DWP to do their inspection. And they sent a man to wait for the inspector, so I didn't have to hang around.
