Excellent beer!!! Love the ambiance. I'm was a bit cold outside so we had to sit inside.

I have gone to Helix a handful of times before and the experience has always been decent. I was there on Friday 8/17/18 and I got a table with my girls while my husband ordered me a beer. He picked one he thought I would like and brought it to the table. Well, I tried it (literally one sip) and didn't like it so I went up to the bar and told the girl working that I didn't like the beer my husband selected to see if I could swap it out for a different one. She told me sure but that she was going to have to charge me for another beer (even though I didn't drink the one I was returning). I told her to forget it. I wasn't going to buy another beer when the first one was gross. Needless to say, they lost a customer. read more

We went here a couple months ago. This place is cool with tons of outdoor seating, great decor, and a large tv inside that they were playing the football game on during our visit. The bar was single staffed, but it was a Sunday afternoon so understandable. The beer is good, you can see their barrels behind the glass wall behind the bar. Cool vibes. They had a pop up pizza business there during our visit and the pizza was super good. The back area has a ton of outdoor tables for people to hang and play corn hole. The only knock on this place is that they possibly need to clean their back area more often because the flies swarming the beers and pizza were awful. Just way too many, and usually a symptom of not cleaning the concrete enough. Bleach that stuff, get rid of the flies, and allieviate the need to cover food with napkins when its not going directly into your mouth. Oh yea, parking is weird at this place and if you find yourself going down a weird loop of a road, dont worry, youre going the right way. read more

we (used) to go there all the time, and use a debit card to pay. Last time were there and went to check out, we were THEN told there is a $4 fee for using a card. FOUR $ fee.....that is really wrong. I guess we will be going to Bolt, right down the street. So not happy about this. read more

This place is great and reasonably priced! The beer is amazing and the place if family owned which makes the experience much more enjoyable. There is in/outdoor seating which is great for pets. Their beer is definitely a must try in San Diego. read more

Helix Brewing - Breweries Near Me - La Mesa, California

Helix is Awesome!! Not only do they have stellar beer, but the patio is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. It is kid friendly with tons of games and dog friendly (a huge plus for all the fur parents). Beers are reasonably priced (I mean VERY reasonable). I forgot to mention that they have pretty good looking bartenders too, which is always nice if I'm looking to people watch. Who would pass up getting served by an attractive bartender with an awesome sense of humor? read more

Their King Rufus Porter is a perfect autumn brew - and we just finished the growler we bought last Sunday, and it was just as delicious today as it was 5 days ago. Been here a few times, the beer is great. Really digging the outside style kind of brewery. Well done. Always have a live band on Saturday nights. They have cornhole and plenty of seating. For the beers, I'm really liking their IPA's. Galaxy and Active were my faves. Their porter and stout are bomb, perfect for these cold nights. I love coming here, but why the four stars? Too many kids running around. Like I get it, parents wanna be out with the kids and drink a few but when they're running around interrupting the cornhole game and even standing on the furniture, knocking over beers? Come on. In a way I think it's the parents and the owners fault. Well if you like good beer while being in a daycare this is the place for you. read more

Wonderful place to eat!! Very fresh farm to table food, all locally sourced ! A great bang for your buck. Manager runs a tight ship, all workers supported one another which in return gave us, the diner, a very pleasant experience. I was invited to the private party the weekend before official open and I must say this place is great! I love the ales and the Galaxy was a big hit for myself and hubs. We left with a growler of Galaxy. We will be visiting again real soon! Best brewery in East County. read more

I'm so happy to have Helix Brewing here so conveniently located to my home! Helix is my go-to place whenever I need to fill my growler(s). Their beer is great, and is cheaper than their competitor down the street. I'm especially fond of the PragueNosis (can't wait for the next batch!) and the Stoner Moment, and for daytime drinking I really like the Acid Drop (its low alcohol, yet tastes great). Saw this brewery mentioned on FB and decided to try it out. Great beer, great location and great ambiance. Came back on a Friday night and it was crowded. Beer is good and reasonable as opposed to other breweries that immediately start with higher pricing. Look forward to many more visits. read more

1st. timer on 09jan2016. wakled out with a 64ozr. of their "red 'n' active", also had the "black eye rye" (awesome), and the "honor not inner" imperial stout(welcome to the darkside luke). pints are priced great for the quality of product (shhhh they could charge more). dark fans will not be disappointed. next go around i will hit the lighter brews..... mixed croud all ages very dog friendly and i heard kid friendly. laid back lounge effect for beer drinking, so kill the noise an bs!!!! located in an industrial area which makes it great for parking (an east count san diego gem), the craft beer community in san diego has come full spread, i can't imagine not hitting a neighborhood in sd county and not find a local craft brewer so if your in la mesa mark this down for your bar crawl. read more

Amazing beer, super cool environment, AND good-looking workers?! They even have fun games if you're feeling competitive: cards of humanity, jenga, uno...just to name a few. Between the live bands on weekends, food trucks galore everyday, and the high-quality beer, it's a must. I'm not a beer drinker per se, and the Acid Drop was delicious! The place was cool, relaxing, clean, and the guys SO friendly!! They work very hard, and for as young as the company is, I'd say the sky is the limit! When they go public, i'd want to be in on the IPO!! Congratulations!! read more

Great place, building and patio have the right feel, great friendly staff. Beer selection is good, try the black eye rye and mosaicoholic IPA. Both good. Acid Drop is good too. Started coming here soon after they opened. Been back many times, never disappointed. read more
