They have music programming and special events throughout the month to bring great value to the neighborhood through culture, music and community to the neighborhood. Tonight I enjoyed art and the Blues with Robert Dean. It is an intimate setting with room for about 12 for the show. But boy, it is special! Stopped by on a weekend opening by chance just to check out some of the local art. This gallery is a true working gallery with all kinds of local art work represented here, and as well art classes and special events open to the public. The night of my visit the gallery was open with live music playing a a nice crowd of folks enjoying the art, music, the gathering and the energy that it all brought together. This space is inviting and even as an outsider just passing through I felt as I was a part of the environment as it all unfolded. This space also appears to be an incubator for artists and artisans to have a platform to showcase their work. It felt like it was a creative hub to the local arts community with all the various posters up. I had a great time visiting the Hellada Gallery. My friend Camilla Marie Bray has a few pieces here on display entitled B_east of Burden. I enjoyed viewing the work of other artists on display as well. The gallery itself is located in Long Beach's Art District which is downtown. This particular art gallery is located on Linden next to very nice restaurants and across the street from a wine bar. I like the feel of the gallery. It's small but there are two rooms filled with art from local artists. They had live music which was excellent. The only challenge I had was parking but that's everywhere in Long Beach. I eventually found a parking space after driving around 10 minutes. However, it was worth it. The art was fabulous. The music was fabulous and you know the wine I had was fabulous too. Even though it was Thursday, there was a five piece acoustical band playing percussion well "Î Heard It Through The Grape Vine". Who knew in ÑYC! A mature lot, (they are the best kind) (wow, autocorrected to beast king), they debate naming themselves The Miscreants, maybe. So nice a space for open mics, which is apparently on Wednesdays. Displayed art is serene, not the frequently pretentious "ain't I great". I usually would be sure to stop in on Second Saturdays Art Walk. I'm not certain what happened to that. Does one have to be in the know to know what is happening in Long Beach. Pick up pieces of paper flyers? I tend to do that, so.... I'm leaving an update because I'm tired of reading people writing inaccurate information. I was there when one of these woman came into the shop complaining about the jewerly. What she didn't mention in her comment is how she handled the jewerly. The silver was tarnished and looked like she wore on the shower multiple times. It was in horrible condition. Ladies jewerly breaks when you don't care for it. When you buy jewerly it is your responsibility to care for it after. For the business amazing art, welcoming to all. There are some odd ducks there but they are true artist and love to be unique. read more

This is in regards to the two poor reviews Lady K and Elvira M wrote: They both came in: one bought the opal inlay ring for the other; it was $49. After a few weeks one of the tiny opals fell out, we fixed it for them. Six weeks later they both came in again and wanted the money back, claiming that another stone had chipped of. It's an opal inlay, so very delicate and she wore it on her middle finger, not being careful with it. It's totally unreasonable of them wanting to return the ring, after wearing it for quite some time. This type of customer you will never satisfy, no matter what. If you don't know how to treat jewelry like this, perhaps you should stick to piercings. That ring was well made; it's the lack of care that made the stone(s) fall out or chip. I felt like this could have been a shop that I would recommend to my family and friends. Unfortunately, the ring I purchased was not made well and fell apart twice after wearing a handful of times. The first time I was understanding and I gave the store a second chance since I like to support small/local businesses. However, the second time it was clear that the ring was just poorly made. I was so embarrassed that the birthday gift I gave was so subpar but to make it worse the owner blamed my friend for breaking it. I was shocked at her response and blatant disrespect. Obviously I will not be returning and do not recommend this store for their lack of quality and decency. read more
