Mark was a thrill to work with! My fiancé and I had just gotten engaged and didn't know of too many photographer. We happened to find Mark on Groupon, he offered a 2 hour session with one large print and a slide show of 30 images and then additional package for purchase of our image files. We've never done a photoshoot before so Mark was great about giving us tips for poses and staging the shots we brought props for. We had a beach shoot and it was very windy. I have long dark hair which became a bit of an obstacle while shooting (my fault I should have known better lol) but the pictures still turned out amazing, you wouldn't know just how hard we were trying to keep my hair out of my face haha I loved the final outcome! We found Mark through Groupon and chose him to photograph our son's 10 month baby pics. We were confident in our choice because of his stellar reviews, and we are so glad we did! Mark suggested the El Dorado dog park as the location for the photoshoot and gave us a few tips on colors to avoid, props, and to bring several outfit changes. We met on Father's day and appreciated that he was so accomodating to shoot for us on a holiday. What a pleasure to work with! He was familiar with the park and knew all the right spots to shoot for the best lighting and background. Not only does Mark have a great sense of humor (actually really funny!), he was patient throughout a few crying episodes and even a quick feeding session. Super professional, yet he made the whole process so comfortable. Over 400 amazing pictures were captured during the two hours, and they were all edited/uploaded within a few days. My fiancé and I took our engagement pictures a few days ago and we are so pleased!! Not only was Mark nice, but he has such a good eye for photography scenes. He didn't just take pictures of us posing, he also took picture of us as we were goofing around which I feel came out better because you can tell we were cracking up and having a good time..those are the best pictures in my opinion. After losing 2 wedding photographers due to unforeseeable emergency, my (now) husband mentioned that he'd found an Amazon Local deal online for a wedding photog. Now, initially I blanched at the idea, since 1) it's our wedding and buying a "deal" seemed shifty and 2) we didn't have a videographer, so... photos were all we had. After much mulling and with a desire to just "make a decision," we hired Mark. One of the best decisions we made. Mark was clear, professional and over-delivered on his promises. We met for a pre-lim meeting so he could get to know us and walk through the day together. During that time, he told us a little about himself and walked through the wedding timeline together. He was clear, concise and showed us photos from a wedding he'd done the previous weekend. While we'd booked him for 4 hours, he agreed to sub our engagement photos for a 5th and then did a 6th hour, just to make sure he got all the shots he thought we'd need and have enough time for everything. Our timeline for the day went wonky almost immediately and he was extremely flexible, making the most of every moment, and working with a professional sense of autonomy. To be honest, I was a little sour the next day, thinking "I didn't see him all night!" until I saw the photos on the site and fell in love... First I want to say that this is not a review based on his photography skills but more so on his level of unprofessionalism & I wish I had more nice things to say. I bought a groupon and set my appointment months in advance and he seemed to be professional and accommodating in the beginning over the phone & via email. However, on the day of the shoot I didn't feel the same. He was a few minutes late as I made it to the location before him and the parking was not great. It's Long Beach, so I would assume that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to find parking to beat your customer there. I initially chose this location from the suggestions Mark gave me & he kept mentioning going to another location which wasn't my desire bc I liked the location that I chose. My appointment was at 11 and I had to wait around for him to find parking. So, my mothers suggestion was for him to find parking in a nearby structure so we could finally get started and we watched his equipment while he went to get parking in the structure so he wouldn't have to walk far with all of it. This turned into my mother and I waiting for an hour, not off to a good start! After returning with the rest of his equipment he states how he will have to rule that location out for shoots and told us that we were responsible for his parking & gave us the fee. Initially, we said we wouldn't be paying for his parking bc of how long we had to wait and thought that we weren't responsible for it. So, abruptly he states " I'm done and I'll give you a refund", grabbed his equipment & walked away! That was the end of that. There was no discussion or reasoning with us even after we wasted our time and paid for two hours of parking! I am an honest person and will say after reading the fine print again after my call with groupon it states that we(the customer) are responsible for associated fees including entry and parking fees. If we were able to have a discussion with Mark about this it would have been much simpler but he was not willing. I got my refund directly from groupon the same day and haven't had anymore dealings with him nor has he tried to reach out to me about my refund. My suggestion is not to even purchase this groupon if it ever becomes available again bc it seems that he feels like he is doing the customer a huge favor which may be why it was so easy for him to just walk away. I was shocked at this form of unprofessionalism and I hadn't even got to work with him, so this was a huge learning lesson. read more

WOW! I seriously looked forward to writing this review! I contacted Mark through the Living Social & figured there was no better deal for beach photos. He was so helpful in explaining every detail of the process AND TIPS on what to wear, props to bring, and other ways to prepare for the shoot. Upon meeting, he gave us paperwork that also helped clarify what the deal was good for and what the next steps were. I had a ton of pictures of poses that I wanted to try & he let us do ALL of them! I was so happy that I had the freedom to choose instead of being told how to pose. Being a woman, I of course wanted to look my best (and thinnest) so he gave me tips on ways to stand to achieve that. He's really a pro! When I saw the photos, I fell in love, before editing! Could not be happier & we have not even seen the finish product yet! So we got last minute notice that my brother was deploying to Afghanistan....with things happening so fast we did not even think to book a photographer for our family picture before his departure...well I found Mark (Jackrabbit Photo) on Friday the 13th and explained the situation to him...he agreed to move some things around and he accomodated our request and scheduled us for Saturday (the 14th). We had a family photo shoot with Mark, he was so professional and helpful through the whole process! From the moment we contacted him, he patiently guided us through every step, and offered many great advice regarding every detail about the photo shoot. On the day of the shoot, it was clear how much experience he had through the way he directed us to capture exactly the type of shots we were looking for. The most impressive part was the special set of eyes he had to spot for backgrounds that we probably would not notice, but turned out to be absolutely beautiful backdrops. On the way to our second location during the shoot, he saw an area of trees with autumn colors, we probably would've just drove by without taking a second look, but he told us that he thought this place would look good, and when we saw how the pictures came out, these were probably the best ones out of the entire photo shoot! Another reason I recommend him is that he makes sure to personalize your experience, unlike most businesses making the customers feel like the business relationship was obviously a means to an end; Mark was laid-back and very flexible, kept great communications and went above and beyond to make the whole process fun for everyone. We had our first family photo shoot June 2017. There were ten of us, adults and kids, so I was nervous from the start that we would be hard to manage. Some of us were on time, some were late but Mark maintained his professionalism and manged our time accordingly - taking pictures until we were all present for the final group shot. I wish I could say something nice. Unfortunately Marks professionalism is extremely poor. My husband and I bought a Groupon deal and took photos, we went to Marks cluttered single apartment to view the pictures, he tried to sell us in his editing and his popular package which was $300, honestly my husband thought it was a good deal, me I needed more time to consider. So my husband and I left the viewing and lots of things came up. We ended up just wanting to get the Groupon deal fulfilled and ordering more photos at a later time. So I emailed Mark the selected photos and selected a song for the slide show, Mark refused only because we didn't spend more money with him, his website even listed it was available for $15 extra. I communicated with Mark via email only, I never spoke with Mark over the phone and I shared the information with my husband. My husband gave Mark a call to further inquired about his 'a la carte' options. My husband was only trying to explain to Mark he should have a disclaimer if he was going to be selective as to what services he would provide to his customers based on the dollar amount spent. Mark became unpleasant and defensive, so my husband politely ended the call. I then accepted Marks terms to not allow us to pay for our song selection by email and he pushed our pick-up date back from 10 days to 3 weeks and I felt that Mark was being spiteful. Things went completely down hill from there; Mark became completely unprofessional, deleted our family pictures and left Groupon with no other option but to refund our money. Is it so wrong for a customer to ask why something isn't available to them, especially when the service is listed on the website. I filed a claim with the BBB and Mark continued to display his unprofessionalism with his responses, I would not recommend Mark to anyone for photography. read more

I feel compelled to write an update because I wrote such an enthusiastic review before my transaction with Mark was complete. After the shoot, Mark sent me a link so I could view my photos and select the shots I wanted in print. But, he hasn't responded to any of my subsequent emails or texts over the past 6-7 months. The bulk of the fee I paid was worth the time he spent with us and the link provided me the opportunity to download images, but I was supposed to also get large prints (including a bonus 8 x10 for writing a Yelp review). In addition the digital images are a little washed out (something I'm sure could be adjusted, but I'm not a photo editor!). So, I just wanted other Yelpers to have a complete picture of the beginning to end transaction. read more
