We recently dined at Fotia's in Manchester, NH. The ambiance was comfortable; a pub-feel with high-top tables, low ones and large booths to fit 4-6 people each and Greek influence in the decor. The food was excellent from bread and olive tapenade, Greek salad to our meals - lamb chop dinner with rice and my husband had the small dinner of four stuffed cabbage. They were both delicious! Our waitress, Marissa, was lovely, helpful, accommodating, friendly and welcoming. We felt very much at home. The menu was extensive with many choices of Greek food, pizza and American. I wanted a quick and delicious lunch on my break from work. I was near Fotia, have never tried them, so I ordered on their app. Download g and using the app was easy and intuitive. My food was ready within the time frame they said it would be. The woman greeting me was very friendly and prompt getting my order. The inside is gorgeous! Plenty of seating! Visiting family in NH and went here last night with a few friends and family for our wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely amazing! MIL got the chicken stir-fry with lemon potatoes, FIL got the lamb shank with lemon potatoes, BIL got the braised beef with Greek potatoes, hubby got the lamb roast with Greek potatoes, friend and I each got the lamb gyro, one with regular fries and the other with spicy fries. We all shared and everyone loved all the food. I can't remember the name of our waiter, but he was very attentive and offered lots of suggestions. At the end of the meal, when he asked about dessert, we weren't sure what to get because they all sounded good. He suggested the bougatsa and OMG it was delicious. A simply fantastic Greek restaurant. Inside and outside are well put together and thoughtfully laid out. There's ample parking, and it's right off Willow Street near the DMV. Inside, there's a hip vibe with great Greek accents. You can definitely tell this is a Greek-owned restaurant--the passion for the homeland is evident. As you can see from my photos, I'm the rare Manchester Yelper who actually takes photographs of menus. The menu here is quite extensive. It's an upscale restaurant, so the prices are higher than other Greek places, but it's worth it. Karen, our waitress, was simply fantastic--maybe the best we've had since we moved here. The Greek pizza was great and very filling; I couldn't finish it. I recommend swapping the tomatoes with olives. My partner had the gyro. My wife had the Greek burger which she loved and I had the lamb chop dinner which was the best lamb I have ever had! Their prices are more than reasonable as well. I recently had the chance to indulge in a variety of Greek dishes, and overall, it was a delightful culinary experience. Here's a breakdown of the highlights (and a few misses): Chicken Lemon Soup This soup was a standout--perfectly seasoned and wonderfully homemade in taste. It was warm, comforting, and exactly what you'd hope for in a traditional dish. Spanakopita The spanakopita was hearty and satisfying, though I think it could have used just a touch more feta or salt to elevate the flavors. Still, it was a fantastic dish that I'd happily order again. Grape Leaves I love grape leaves, and these didn't disappoint. While the rice was a bit overcooked for some at my table, I found it enjoyable, especially paired with the lemon sauce, which was vibrant and zesty. As a lemon lover, it hit all the right notes! That said, I would've appreciated the option of a meat-filled version. Pastitsio Unfortunately, this dish fell a bit flat for me. The meat was slightly overcooked, and it lacked the depth of seasoning I was hoping for. While it's a simple and homey dish, it just didn't leave a lasting impression. Not bad, but not something I'd rush to order again. Bougatsa Oh. My. Goodness. If you order one dessert, make it the bougatsa. This was hands-down the best thing I tried all night--creamy, sweet, and absolutely heavenly. I didn't even bother trying the baklava because I can't imagine anything surpassing this perfection. Galaktoboureko While I usually love this dessert, it just didn't wow me this time. It wasn't bad, but it couldn't hold a candle to the bougatsa. Lamb Kebab and Athens Haddock I sampled a bit of my sister's lamb kebab, which was tender and cooked well, though it could've used a bit more seasoning. My boyfriend's Athens haddock was a pleasant surprise--flavorful with feta and cracker crumbs. I wasn't sure the crackers added much, but overall, it was a dish I found myself wishing I'd ordered. Lemon Potatoes and Greek Potatoes Both were okay but didn't stand out. They served their purpose as side dishes but didn't leave a strong impression. Overall, the meal had its highs and lows, but the highlights (especially that bougatsa!) made it memorable. Dolmades quite soft, lemon sauce delicious, my kids loved the keftedes, spanakopita seemed like it was warmed up in microwave due to the very hard filo on the bottom. Saganaki was yummy but they didn't light it. Loukaniko on toast was fabulous. Galaktoboureko was eh! It was made quite different. Not something we were use too. Loukoumades were ok. Enjoyed Athens Baked Haddock at Fotia Greek Taverna in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The dish comes with two sides and Tzatziki. I had Greek potatoes (pictured) and paid the extra $2.00 for Greek Salad (not pictured), which was well worth it. The salad was great. They use proper Feta cheese. Other restaurants are screwing the consumer by telling them they serve Feta cheese, but actually giving you some cheese made in the U.S. with cow's milk. Proper Feta cheese is made with sheep and/or goat milk, is brined, and is made in Greece. In some counties it is illegal to label non-Greek origin Feta as Feta because they recognize European Union Protected Designation of Origin rules. The Athens Baked Haddock was excellent. It's prepared with spinach and breadcrumbs on top. Very tasty. The potatoes were flavorful and tasty. Even though they have salt & black pepper grinders for customers, I didn't need them because the level of seasoning was right. First I have to say that you don't find a restaurant like Fotia often. We had six apptizers (calamari, lokaniko (Greek sausage), fried cheese (saganaki), octopus, kopanisti (spicy cheese dip), and lamb chops. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Then we ordered dinner - baked lamb, steak tips, chicken parmigiana, and haddock with spinach. You get two sides with each meal. Again, delicious! Plus so much to take home and eat for a few days. Our desset was loukoumades (fried dough with cinammon and honey). Of course, we cannot leave a Greek Restaurant without having a Frappe ( whipped iced coffee). I have been to Fotia multiple times and if there was a 6-star rating I would give it. I have tried multiple items on the menu and have liked all of them. My go to's are Pastitsio, Moussaka, Chicken Souvaki, and the combo meat platter (this is huge with 7 different meats) along with sides of a Greek Salad (that comes with a big slab, not crumbles, of feta cheese) and Greek or lemon Potatoes. The food is authentic, the portions are very large, the pricing is reasonable, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and atmosphere is nice, especially some Greek music. I have some favorites there, but you have to leave room for the bougatsa dessert as it is FABULOUS. I have brought a lot of people here and everyone has enjoyed the restaurant. Fotia Greek Taverna opened recently in the former Pizza 911 on South Willow Street. This Greek restaurant and bar has ties to Southside Tavern at the Filotomo Casino. I love Greek food and I've ordered DoorDash from Southside Tavern several times and have enjoyed their spanokopeta, moussaka, tzatziki sauce with warm pita bread, Greek salads and pizza too. I did not care to do sitdown dining-in at Southside Tavern because the casino was very noisy and busy. I was so excited to see Fotia Greek Taverna open on the same street, where I can enjoy Greek cuisine in a family friendly atmosphere and not in a loud dimly lit casino bar. I stopped by Fotia in Manchester recently for dine-in dinner. The place was modified from before (Pizza 911) with new décor, booths, tables, high tops and the full bar with seating & TVs and several draft beers in the same spot. At the host stand, there are several Greek desserts on display. There is also outside patio seating. I was seated at a high top table and given a menu. The double sided menu has Greek fare on the first side and the other side has pizza, sandwiches, Italian dinners, salads, pub appetizers, and kids menu. The prices are moderate here. Since I was here, I stuck with the Greek side and order the Pastichio Dinner ($22 plus tax) which comes with two sides, choosing the Greek potatoes and a cup of the Lemon Rice Soup. A complementary basket of warm bread loaf and butter was brought out immediately after ordering. The cup of Lemon Rice Soup was brought out with oyster crackers, which was a hot and creamy lemon chicken rice soup, very good. About 12 minutes later, the owner serves my dinner entrée, which had a square piece of baked pastichio and a side of Greek potatoes. The pastichio was layered with long tubes of macaroni, seasoned beef, and bechemel. The Greek potatoes were roasted and marinated in a savory sauce. I used some of the bread to dip into the mix of sauce. I was full and skipped dessert. The check was $23.87 with tax and before tip. I would definitely return to Fotia so I can enjoy other Greek dishes on the menu and also order traditional appetizers and burgers on the other side of the menu. Fantastic service by Tomas. We had the mixed grill that came with fries that we upgraded to greek fries, homemade tzatziki, and pita bread...Amazing!!!! When we sat down they brought out fresh made loaf of bread with kalamata tampenade and olive oil. The desert was Bougatsa served hot. Everything was great. I must say that this was an unexpected surprise and experience that everyone should experience. The chicken soup was amazing the bread and fresh breadsticks were delicious and then came out the perfect lamb shank with Greek potatoes and the the waitress brought out the most delicious dessert ever. I believe it's called Bastuca it was so delicious not to sweet. I will be making another trip soon.
