A mostly empty $10 plastic bowl of salad items.
    Alan F.

I've used this chain quite a bit since the COVID-19 thing happened in mid-March. There was no dine-in, so I went here (and still do) for carry-out salads. During the beginning of COVID, they limited the items they offered (not sure why, maybe availability) but I was OK with that. After about eight weeks, they returned offer all the "toppings" they had before mid-March. A salad that the customer picks what he/she wants, but without any chicken/shrimp/salmon is about $10 with tax & is served in a plastic bowl. That's a decent amount considering I'm able to get a salad with grilled chicken for about the same amount elsewhere, but not with the variety of fresh salad vegetables offered by Hello Bistro. Recently, I went in for my usual proteinless salad that I typically get mid-day, then take home & refrigerate for dinner. After paying, the preparer started my order. She began with my choice of lettuce & seemed to skimp on it, but I didn't say anything. Then I started saying what else I want & noticed that she continued to skimp on the toppings, grabbing teeny amounts of each item in the serving tongs. I still decided not to say anything so I asked for an item I don't typically get & asked for an extra "serving" of another item. It seemed to me she was of the notion that the diced red peppers were really rubys, the diced green peppers were emeralds, the bits of califlour were diamonds, and the lettuce leaves were really $100 bills, as she was so meticulous to not give me too much. I did specify a specific amount of feta cheese, which I got & the salad was drowned in dressing. NOTE: I think they make their own dressings & the one I always request, I like a lot. And for some reason, she was very generous with the crunchy add-ins & asked if I wanted more, but I declined. I'm there primarily for the variety of vegetables. As noted, I got it home & stowed it in the refrigerator & below (or above) is what I ended up with for dinner. I've probably had two or three per week since early 2020 & this one salad was so noteworthy for it's nothingness. Instead of the glass being half-full, the plastic bowl is. Hopefully the trend does not continue.

Came here as soon as they opened for lunch. They offer beyond burgers which I appreciate since I don't eat meat. Their fries were seasoned very nicely and were tasty. I like how they prepare the salads in front of you. Self serve drink station along with both a ketchup pump AND ranch pump which I've never seen before.

Well, today was the day, and we had high expectations based on the photos and other Yelp reviews that we saw before dinner. It, unfortunately, did not live up to our expectations. The outdoor seating area is nice, and the entire restaurant gives off an upscale Primanti's vibe. We ordered the Pabst burger, Fried chicken sandwich, buffalo wings, and kids' chicken tenders. The French fries ended up being the favorite part of our meals. Everything else was so-so. Warning on the wings... They came out incredibly hot. I ate everything else in my meal and came back to them, but they were still almost too hot to eat. The service was solid, and the food came to our table quickly. I understand that "Tap House" is directly in the restaurant's name, but the patrons at the table next to us were enjoying Happy Hour heavily, and their conversation, during our time there, eroded into a significant amount of loud cussing. It definitely made me second-guess whether I would go here with my kids again. I think we'll give it another try, and I hope that today was just an off day.

Am looking forward to being back! My server was Tolia (sorry if I'm misspelling/misremembering) and she did an AMAZING job. She was super friendly, made awesome menu recommendations and was a delight to chat to. She recommended I start with the char grilled octopus and this was delicious. It came with capers and a grilled lemon and olive oil and was beautifully presented. The potion was easily finished by just me, so if you have more than 2 people I'd recommend getting more than 1 order of these. It's so delicious. I was then picking between the pastitsio and the moussaka. I was told they both have a strong nutmeg flavor which was not a problem for me. I decided on the moussaka and it was so delicious. It did have a strong nutmeg flavor but not in an overwhelming way. It came with a bechamel sauce on top and layers of eggplant with ground beef tomato and potato. It sort of reminded me of a shepherds pie if you're not as familiar with Greek food. The portion was HUGE - could easily split between 2. I ate almost half of it but couldn't eat the rest although I wish I could've. It was so good. The cocktail I ordered was a nectar spritz (something with "nectar" in the title at least) and genuinely was one of the best cocktails I've had. Definitely beat every other one I had in Pittsburgh this week by FAR. So yummy. I was so impressed with every aspect of my dining experience and would definitely be back!

The other diner had the seafood medley with mussels, shrimp, etc. over pasta. Both meals were large portions and we took half home. Suprised by number of food options. Will be back to try other offerings.

I ordered the California chicken club with the fresh vegetable medley. The vegetables were so great - fresh (not frozen), tender but not too soft and full of flavor. It wasn't busy and the service was quick and friendly. A little robot delivered our food and our server followed right behind it to move it from the robot to the table. We had never experienced the little robot before so we were surprised by it ha! Cool way to run food I suppose. Walnut Grill remains a fan fave when we can't decide where else to go. When I said special she just pointed to the weekday specials of what is already on the menu. Thought they had summer specials but she did not mention them. Was there for happy hour and those prices are more inline with what you should be paying. The drinks were average . Person in group had a mango mojito that came in a tall beer glass and she didn't like the taste of it. Strawberry Martini did not come with the fresh strawberries as it said on the menu. Told waitress and eventually much later she brought over 2 small slices of strawberries. Appetizer was the spinach artichoke dip which was on the salty side. Had the special shrimp scampi, a little too garlicky but a nice size portion with pasta and a large side salad. Gnocchi Chicken was ok as was the crab cakes. Crème Brûlée was tasty. Lot of older people there which tells me it is overpriced for the younger crowd. The French dressing is very chunky and not your normal French dressing.
