I recently visited the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck In Downtown Walnut Creek, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. First of all, the line was ridiculously long. They advertised being open from 10am to 6pm, but by the time I finally got checked out around 1:00pm (after waiting in line for 2 hours), almost everything was sold out. I arrived at 11:00am, and you would think they'd be better stocked knowing how popular the truck is, but that wasn't the case. Given the large crowds, they should have been well-prepared with plenty of stock and possibly limited the number of items per person. Instead, we waited in the hot sun for hours only to find that almost everything was sold out within just three hours of opening. The merch that was left was quite disappointing, and the food options were limited to overpriced, mediocre cookies. I went to the truck because I've loved Hello Kitty since I was a kid, but this experience was not worth it at all. Everything was way too expensive, and the whole event felt like a waste of time. You're better off getting Hello Kitty merch and food elsewhere. I ended up buying two things because I felt stupid to wait all that time and buy nothing and I will say that the bag I got was cute but not worth over $40 and the cookie was most definitely not worth it but it was seriously one of two food items they had left in stock sos. I would not recommend going to the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck.

The line was wrapped around the building and I was there 20 min after opening

Absolutely terrible. I cannot believe they travel from state to state just to serve 4 stale rock hard cookies and some little bit of merchandise. The LEAST they could've did was have drinks and really could've kept the cookies ! I waited 2 n a half hours in line and drove 35 min away to get a stale cookie. I'm highly disappointed. Even my friend who's addicted to cookies hated it !

This was my first time visiting the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck in Walnut Creek and I had a fun time. : ) There were a lot of friendly Hello Kitty and Sanrio fans there. I actually got there around 5:30am and was second in line, lol. The truck didn't even arrive until 9:00am. Then they started unloading the boxes full of merch and didn't open until 10:00am. I think it's safe to get there around 7:00am or so if you don't want to wait in a huge line. I was just worried about them selling out of things I wanted. After I left at 10:10am or so, there was a HUGE line going through the parking garage and winding around to Nordstrom. So, if you want to get first dibs on things, definitely arrive early. The cafe truck is mainly for merch, not so much food, which I know is weird to some people. The food they do have isn't that great (the sugar cookies I got were a bit stale and definitely not like homemade sugar cookies). But they were cute, lol. Everything is also REALLY expensive and they only take credit cards. The cookies I got were $15 for 3 and $15 for a huge Hello Kitty one. There were also macarons, cakes, and madeleines, which I didn't get. Those may have been okay. I was mainly there for the cute t-shirt, mugs, tote bag, and pins. I would probably go again if they get some new things in. It was fun, but just really expensive and having to get up early to go and beat the line sucks. But the vibe there was really fun and it cheered me up while going through a really hard time in my personal life. : )

I was super excited to come to this but when I got there they were complete sold out of everything. Really good location in the middle of a bunch of shops and a lot of places to sit. Maybe next year. I think they still have to go to San Francisco.

So Im a super fan of Hello kitty since forever! I have been eye balling this truck forever. They came to our neck of the woods and we went. The lines insane over 2 hrs wait. Service very slow and no shade or water offered for anyone. The things are super cute and taste like any cookies or macaroons. The $3 dollar water bottle adorbs! But seriously 2 hrs for a cookie that is expensive no thanks. Been there done that over it. Tips-they should offer cold water to the people waiting in the beating hot sun. They actually had mall security making sure no one was cutting so that was cool. Service was ok, the workers just looked stressed out and wanted to finish but they were nice. So if you must go but be warned this is going to take a while .

I'm not a "huge" fan of hello kitty, but I like to do random stuff for fun, I had my co worker come with because she's a big fan! Thus rating is only because of items not being available. Not that they "sold out" that day. The truck came with a few items that weren't available already. I was planning on purchasing pins, cushions, & water bottle as well. Those items were already not available prior to them opening. Also tote bags for sale weren't available as well. My thing is, people come & wait in line for hours & hours for something. They show up & it's not even on the truck for sale. I wish they would post it on their website when they come, the little sign they put outside to show us what they have for sale & price. They post online a whole other list which half of that list is not in the truck for sale. Overall the experience was fun, & exciting. The workers were super nice, and I was about the 30th person in line and when they opened it took about 30 min to purchase something. I came early though, about 2 hours ahead of their opening time. My co worker and I had a good time. Time flew by for us.

Got to experience this in Orlando, Florida! I've never had a chance to get to the cafe in Irvine since it opened, so this was a great taste of the experience! Definitely recommend the mini cake set, each one is a different type of cake and filling, so good!

The hygiene alone should be enough to make anyone turn around and walk out. The employee working the front repeatedly coughed into his hands, rubbed his nose, sneezed, then immediately went back to handling customers' utensils, napkins, and food-related items without washing or sanitizing his hands. It happened over and over again. It was honestly disgusting to watch. Basic food safety should never be optional. Then came the bill. Three items. One tiny crepe, one madeleine, and one quiche. Nearly $50. I actually thought there had been a mistake. The crepe was embarrassingly small, and the chicken inside was some of the worst I've had. It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts. We won't be back, and I genuinely can't understand why this place has the reputation it does.

The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good. Other than an error in fulfilling the order correctly and a couple a poor pastries (quality), it was a good first visit, and we all would come back when near a location.

I called in today to see if they could decorate a faux cake for me. Not only was she rude, but she told me she would charge me AS MUCH AS SHE WOULD for a real cake. And it's not like I am looking for free service, I'm willing to pay, but I'm not willing to pay cake prices for icing on Styrofoam. Saying no, as a business is OK, I'm all for it. For me, the shell of a small tart makes up half of the tart, so it was a plus that it was super duper fresh. The filling was made up equally of fresh nuts but did have a rather prominent taste of alcohol. Some pecan pies contain a bit of alcohol like rum or bourbon. I went on their homepage, and it looks like they also make a Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie. I'm assuming that the tart I got may have been a mini version of that. If you're averse to alcohol in your food, keep this in mind, at least when it comes to their pecan tartlets. Guilty Pleasures makes cupcakes, cakes, pies, cookies and other nicely presented baked goods as well. I spied pre-packaged mixes of mini treats that can be purchased as a nice hostess gift that contained macarons, meringues, and what looked like small pumpkin tarts. I definitely enjoy my sweet treats, but with Guilty Pleasures, it's nice to know that with the smaller bites of desserts I can have them all, minus the guilt...sort of.
