We arrived close to 7pm. It's located inside of another store. It's hard to differentiate the one shop from The Sweet Spot. Due to an emergency outside of the shops control, they weren't fully open when we arrived. Although we were bummed, it was totally understandable. The owner was kind enough to reach out and apologize. I definitely do respect that level of customer service!! We will have to come back and try them out next time. This place actually popped up on my instagram. Advertising looked very appealing , so why not give it a try. Per google maps , this was going to be a thirty seven minute drive, so I called the telephone number that is on their business page , and it was disconnected. Their business page also stated that it opened at 3pm. So I decided that me and my partner were gonna take a drive. We got there early around 230p. So in order to get to them which they are in the very far corner, you have to go through the market. A very crowded (not with people) one at that. We politely asked if they will be opening and they did state that they were running late, so they will be opening at 330p. But my main reason visiting this place is because they had a specific dessert sandwich that they were advertising all over instagram. There was no menu posted, so to reconfirm.I asked them if they were going to be selling those dessert sandwiches. The gentleman did confirm that they will be selling those sandwiches , but not until 5p. WTF! 1. Their telephone number doesn't work 2. The hours posted is incorrect, or switches up as they please 3. They have a specific person at a specific time to make a specific dessert My partner has visited this place once prior to today. He was working in the area and since I was talking about it , he wanted to swing by to stay when it was all about. And he had a very similar encounter where they stated that they were open , but they need to open later due to whatever reason it was. Let me also add, there were three other consumers that stopped by at this establishment to just get in their car and leave due to them not being ready for business. Got the Japanese sando. To be honest it was kind of pricey. The fried toast makes it kind of oily and a little heavy culinarily. It's not like a light bread with a whipped cream filling. It tasted okay. Glad I tried it. read more

This is a small dessert stand in a market that serves very sweet takeout desserts. I walked in and placed an order on their iPad for a Dubai chocolate crepe ($16.38). No one called my name or acknowledged when I grabbed my order. Their two employees talked to each other but not to the customers. Zero eye contact, as well. There was also only one table with seats outside, so I took my food home. Parking is also difficult here. But the Dubai Chocolate Crepe (4/5) was pretty tasty, gooey, and rich. It was large crepe as well, good for two people to share. If you don't like your desserts extremely sweet, this might not be for you. I like sweet desserts, so I might come back. read more

I saw a video of this spot on social media and went to go checked it out. It was a little busy upon arriving and we were just standing there waiting to order until we had asked and realized that there was like an iPad on the counter where we had to order, so maybe putting a visible sign or having the employees welcome and say something would be helpful. I got the Dubai chocolate crepe and added strawberries which came out to about $18. The flavor was good. It is a bit the sweeter side since they do drizzle A LOT of the pistachio and chocolate on top. The strawberries were necessary to balance out the sweetness, but without it, I think it would've been a little too sweet. It's big enough to share and the presentation was great. read more

This is a no frill dessert spot. It is nested inside the grocery store so while you wait, you can buy some middle eastern grocery and snacks. We got the banana biscoff crepe because I love banana and Biscoff cookies and it also has chocolate on top. It is $15 after tax but it is a very delicious and huge crepe with tons of banana and cream. I was so impressed with the crepe!!! For me, this is a nice dessert to share with friends and family. I don't think I can eat this whole crepe by myself. Will come back to try Dubai Chocolate next! read more

Wanted to love it but I don't. We ordered the Dubai chocolate strawberries and banana biscoff kunafa. I was shocked at the price for each item! The strawberries were $16 and the kunafa was $14. The strawberries were very ripe and fresh, but that wasn't my main gripe. I wish the pistachio sauce had more flavor. I could be wrong, but it tasted like white chocolate which is a huge disappointment. Pistachio sauce/cream is one of my favorite flavorings and this did not meet the mark. The kataifi was pink and had a sweet flavor to it, which also over powered the already sweet dessert. I was looking for rich chocolate, cold pistachio, and a salty crunch. Unfortunately, I got sweet paired with more sweet, paired with sweeter. Just too sweet to actually enjoy. The biscoff was also a letdown. Super sweet with minimal richness and salt from the cheese. It had the same dyed phyllo with an underlying sweetness and a definite imbalance of flavors. Would I come back here again? Probably, but for other food items. Their savory food selections smelled and looked incredible. I think for dessert, they deviated from their cultural roots to cater to the American flavors which is so disappointing! Can't believe we found this gem of a spot nestled in the Sunnyvale Market! High quality sweets from a local business. So surprised this spot is not more talked about. We ordered a Dubai Chocolate Kunafa (Knafeh) and it was made fresh on the spot for us. There were many other flavors to choose from as well (and strawberry cups - Dubai Chocolate, Biscoff, etc), but we were curious about the Knafeh. This little hole in the wall was a surprise! First up, you'll park in a small, dark at night, parking lot. You might be concerned about your safety. You'll wonder where this dessert place is at because all you see is a crowded, packed, looks closed neighborhood market. But do not fear, desert is on the side of the market and you will be greeted by some really nice ladies. They made my Dubai strawberries super fast and it was absolutely delicious! I was worried the fruit would be white/sour but they were red and perfectly ripe. They also had waffled and crepes. Simple menu but they nail it. Sweet Spot is actually unreal. I've been to a lot of dessert places and this one clears everything. From the second you walk in, the vibe is super clean, welcoming, and just feels happy. The staff are insanely nice and actually care -- not fake nice, but genuinely friendly and helpful. The desserts??? On another level. Everything tastes fresh, perfectly sweet (not overly sugary), and you can tell they use quality ingredients. Every bite hits. The presentation is beautiful too -- definitely Instagram worthy but even better in real life. What I love most is that it doesn't feel cheap or rushed. You can tell they take pride in what they're making. It's the kind of place you go once and immediately start planning your next visit. I've already told all my friends about it. Just discovered this late night spot is at my favorite little Persian market so automatically knew it was going to be great. There wasn't a big wait but definitely was a spot to be at for the time we went. They do take orders online which might be the way to go. We got the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup and the Dubai chocolate kunafa. The strawberries were perfectly ripe and the little crispy pieces of shredded phyllo dough accompanied by the rich chocolate and pistachio sauce was everything and more. The kunafa treat was also special but wishing the sweet cheese in the middle was more melted but again the flavors were amazing. Great late night sweet spot and really well curated. To order, you go inside a store and the store itself is filled with an abundance of Mediterranean products. I ordered the Dubai chocolate crepe, which came to around $17. The flavor was delicious--rich pistachio and chocolate with a generous drizzle that made it quite indulgent. The portion is generous enough to share between two people, and the presentation was beautiful. I will say it is on the expensive side. They also had a free tea station which we were really excited for as the bitterness of the tea worked well with the sweet dessert. I started trying to lose weight about a month ago and finally began to see some progress. Naturally, I felt it was the perfect time to reward myself. This time, I decided to check out The Sweet Spot, as they just opened recently. Prior to this, I had never tried any Middle Eastern desserts. I ended up getting the Banana Biscoff Kunafa, and it was absolutely worth every bite. I'll definitely be coming back to try the Dubai Chocolate Kunafa so I can compare them, but honestly, everything on the menu looked delicious. Just like others I really wanted to like this place. Went on Saturday at 6ish pm. First off it's not visibly easy to find. Parking can be a pain. We had to park across the street. It's located in a small market store next to hot food that the store sells. There is a counter with an iPad where you order. No one greeted us or explained what they offered. They did have a menu hanging up and on the Ipad I took my own order. When I was done paying a man behind the counter who was facing the wall said"be ready in 10 mins". Did not turn around or anything. I walked around the store and then heard my name. The guy didn't even acknowledged that I had grabbed my food. I ordered ordered the Dubai chocolate kunafa It was hot and looked beautiful but sadly it did not take good. The kunafa was not crispy, the pistachio cream was thick and the chocolate was meh. I went on a week day when they were supposed to be open. Came a little bit after opening. I walked into the market and wasn't sure where to go to order (because the person to order from wasn't there). Many uninterested employees who ignored me. One walked past me and not even a hello. So I walked around the store looking at where to order, and couldn't find it. As I walked around the market the smell of the market itself was very unappetizing. I went to the small counter by the front door, and finally someone asks if I'm trying to order the desserts. I said yes. Then I'm told to wait a few minutes because I guess no one was there to work the dessert area. So as I stood smelling the unappetizing smell and now looking at the unappetizing food in the containers next to the counter, I finally just left and didn't return. I walked in to the store he said hi then I said Salam al lakam. Then I got ignored. Started off bad I shook it off. Then I asked to use the bathroom to do my wudu everyone was Muslim in there. Then he told me no it was broken and talked in a bad tone with me. Then I saw 3 people come out of the bathroom. They then started to pray and they didn't let me the thing that got me really mad was that they all went to pray while they let a Muslim brother left alone. I was with my whole family to get their food I was going to spend 200 dollars but that really upset me. So I left. Terrible customer service and very rude don't go to them. I ended up taking my family to Yogurtland just very upsetting. Strongly will not refer any friends or family to this place. We ordered two crepes. Both were missing the toppings that were advertised on the Instagram AND website that would be included on our crepes. The man working barely engaged in conversation, but he was busy. (he also was playing...interesting music...) The items themselves were tasty- but sooo expensive. Would have loved to loved this place, but I just can not get behind this hype. Overall, it was yummy, though it was very expensive and had false advertising. Also location wasn't my favorite. On social media, I didn't expect the location to be how it was. (location it is in isn't a huge deal breaker though...just a tad off putting at first.) read more

Receiving a texted coupon for 15% off my order, I was excited to use it since I needed a birthday cake. Though there was an online code, I could not use the discount online. I called the shop several times, but there was no answer, and I even left a voice message but never heard a call back. Finally I noticed there was number on the website to text so I did, and got a response. The response was that it was too late to order the cake, and the coupon couldn't be used online ordering system because the online ordering system was different from what was used in the store. BUT I was told I can still call my order in and pay in advance over the phone to get the 15% discount if I still wanted cupcakes, and if the store didn't answer, the person sending the text said he/she would contact the store. I appreciated that kind gesture. The next morning, I settled for cupcakes and decided to call the order in and pick up the cupcakes in the afternoon since I had no time that morning to go to the store. But lo and behold, I called and again no one answered. I texted the same number from the day before and a response came back that they would contact the store to give me a call. I checked in by calling the store two more times and still no answer. And no one called back that afternoon either. Sadly, I had to give up, but was glad to give business to a way more responsive bakery with delicious cakes.

When I reminded her that I had, she asked what I ordered--as if she hadn't personally rung me up. She then told me I needed to return to the backless barstool. I challenged this because it made absolutely no sense. There were plenty of open tables, I was a paying customer and I was within the posted two-hour limit. She simply repeated that it was the policy. To be clear, the problem isn't that the policy was poorly communicated. The policy should not exist in the first place. Kicking a paying customer out of an empty chair and directing them back to a barstool is a horrible business model that lacks basic respect and hospitality. I left angry, embarrassed and regretting the money I spent here. I will absolutely not be returning.

It was chilled nicely and overall, it did brighten up my mood for the day. I think I need to go to 30% sweet and it will be perfect for me. Overall, I can see myself coming back here again.

We also got a mint lemonade and seasonal strawberry lemonade too. The workers there are very friendly too. Service was smooth and solid. And other people were eating here too. It wasn't super packed, but it was smooth sailing. The environment inside is nice and pleasant, especially when shoppers in Walnut Creek need a lunch break. The employee working the front repeatedly coughed into his hands, rubbed his nose, sneezed, then immediately went back to handling customers' utensils, napkins, and food-related items without washing or sanitizing his hands. It happened over and over again. It was honestly disgusting to watch. Basic food safety should never be optional. Then came the bill. Three items. One tiny crepe, one madeleine, and one quiche. Nearly $50. I actually thought there had been a mistake. The crepe was embarrassingly small, and the chicken inside was some of the worst I've had. It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts. We won't be back, and I genuinely can't understand why this place has the reputation it does.

What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.
