The first time I came, I wasn't a super fan, but bumped up my rating from 3 to 4 stars. We tried the Greek burger that was juicy and delicious and upgraded to the Greek style fries and the Greek salad very tasty and friendly service. She was a bit backlogged as there was just one employee working on multiple orders, but she was friendly and did her best. my mom and I will be back

HERMES' PLIGHT When it comes to the gyros race, Covo lingers in the middle of the pack. This Greek fast-casual restaurant in Bolingbrook sits on the northeast corner of Boughton & Weber Rd, next to Dickey's BBQ Pit. This is 1 of 3 places along a stretch of Weber offering gyros and other Mediterranean dishes (Fill-A-Pita & Pita Zone are the others). Covo is basically a Greek Chipotle. You pick a bowl, pita, salad, or platter followed by your choice of protein, toppings, and a sauce. Pitas are $8 on Mondays (normally $11) and bowls are $8 on Tuesday (normally $12), so you can save a few bucks by taking advantage of these daily deals. In the past, Covo had spicy pork and döner kebab as choices for meat, but on this last visit they only offered chicken and regular gyros. Their condiments are tasty, especially the Mediterranean sauce which I can best describe as a Grecian salsa verde. The tzatziki is good, too. Covo's Greek fries ($4.50) come with crumbled feta cheese and lemon wedges. We've tried the spanakopita ($5.75 for a side order), avgolemano (chicken rice soup, $2.95), and rizogalo (ride pudding, $3.25), all of which tasted fine. On a recent carryout order, there was a considerable amount of uncooked rice in my gyro bowl which was an unpleasant surprise to say the least (this exact thing happened to me at a Chipotle in Melrose Park, and I never went back). The quality of the gyro meat was a bit iffy, as well. Not Covo's finest hour. The service can sometimes be slow, emotionless, or both. The same guy who took my order, put together the food, and rang me up was clearly going through the motions. He hardly said a word; after paying, the only thing I could elicit out of him was a grunt. * TL;DR * We were impressed on our first visit to Covo, but our satisfaction has waned every visit since. Prices are fair, not much different than elsewhere. I like that they offer a wide variety of sides, but the uncooked rice in my last order was a major turn-off. All things being equal, I'd just as soon grab a gyros + fries from Mickey's on Rt 53 (also in Bolingbrook). You could do better, you could do worse.

I'm new in the area and wanted to try this place. Ordered chicken kebabs and it was delicious . Wasn't expecting it to be that good but, damn! I had salad and spicy feta with yaya(honey mustard aoli) dressing. Service was great. Place was empty since there's closing but clean and quiet. Will definitely come back again.

I ordered a SKEPASTI with fries and it was just covered with all kinds of sauces. I couldn't taste the meat so if I ever ordered that again, I would tell them the hold back the sauce the restaurant was dirty. The tables had been wiped, and you can still see streaks on all of them. Fingerprints were all over the chairs. Dust was accumulated on the windowsills the garbage seals the stools. It needs a good cleaning and it was just aweful. I didn't enjoy it.

Kids meal you can't order and dirty restaurant

I won't ever be back. Filthy restaurant. I'm mostly mad because on the sign it has a kids meal. The staff told me that the owner said they are no longer allowed to make kids meals. WHAT?! You don't want to sell kids meals, ok but put tape over the option... They had one person working, not fair to her but ok. The kid working got yelled at by the customer in front of me. I have no idea what for but it's not fair to put the staff in a position to anger customers. I swallowed my anger because I'm not going to take it out on someone who isn't making the rules. I used to love this place. Yikes, I hope the owner gets it together.

This came with fries called the Skepasti With Steak and lamb

Got an intriguing taste for Greek street food? I'll tell you no more, do not go to this place. Horrible in every way. Does not taste authentic and wasn't prepared for business. Craved for this from another Greek establishment didn't have it. Asked for that didn't have it. Too watery with the amount of sauce on top. Greasy, untasty and you're bound to sit on the toilet a few times afterwards. So for the courageous at heart and stomach please get home asap or the Target within the same plaza to clean out your intestinal tract. Not one person in restaurant when we were there. Seating area could be wiped down better especially tables and booth area. Now I know why. Place needs the health department to come by.

Ordered Chicken Souvlaki for plate, choice of sides were roasted red pepper hummus, rice, salad, vegetables salad and pita. Food was delicious with many choices of side dishes that are available with the plate option. Grilled Chicken was flavorful and juicy. Don't forget to ask tazzini and red hot sauce. My favorite was the roasted pepper hummus with pita bread. Thank you

This is just an updated review and I'm pleasantly still satisfied!! Just wanted to share how much this place rocks and I hope they stay in business during COVID. Ordered the pita for the first time and this is huge. Was surprised how nice and large it was. This place always gives generous portions; they did it when they first opened and years later, they are still doing it. Whenever I'm in the area, I always make a point to stop here. Thanks!!

    Chicken Pita Meal Combo

This place is honestly disappointing. The service is terrible; there is only one worker up front, and they were out of almost everything, and on top of that, their soda machine was broken. I've always tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but every time I come here, my stomach hurts, and I never feel good after eating their food. Today I ordered the Chicken Pita and got food poisoning from it. I strongly recommend you do not come here; the ambiance is dirty. The women's bathroom doesn't work. Both bathrooms smell RANCID, and they are out of towelettes, hand sanitizer, and soap in the dispenser. Steer clear of this place.

Taste of Jerusalem is the kind of place that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its zip code or its signage. Tucked into a perfectly forgettable strip mall in Plainfield, this little spot is quietly serving some of the best food in the area and I am genuinely annoyed it took me this long to find it. The chicken kabob plate was a revelation. Massive portions of beautifully marinated chicken laid over a split of white rice and spicy rice. That spicy rice deserves its own paragraph. Fragrant, deeply spiced, with a slow building heat that lingers just long enough to keep pulling you back for another bite. Addicting is the only word for it. The hummus was exactly what hummus should be, fresh, delicious, also addictive. I added falafel and pita and those falafel were genuinely among the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, not a trace of that greasy heaviness that ruins lesser versions. Just fragrant, spiced, crispy little bites that I genuinely savored. My partner got the chicken wrap and said every component worked together without competing, tasted fresh, and left him full without feeling heavy. High praise from a man who knows his way around a wrap. The space is clean and simple. You order from a kiosk. None of that matters because the husband and wife team running the grill are pouring obvious passion into every plate and it comes through in every single bite. Plainfield has a gem here. The most gracious and humble hosts - paying attention to every detail and stopping at nothing to bring whatever the customer wants to fruition. We don't realize that the place closes at 8:00 pm, and just kept chomping and socializing - they never once pointed it out to us. I begin with them because they were the friendliest folks, and their service was truly remarkable. Then comes the food - my goodness, the food. Let's begin with the Harira. Perfectly seasoned, but for me, it requires a little more salt (which is personal preference) and a pop of acid like lemon to bring out its true flavor. Overall, a really comforting, rich soup without being heavy or cloying. Then came the Moroccan seasoned potatoes - oooooweeee! These were little nuggets of pure deliciousness. Seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside and every bite kept you wanting to go back for more. Then the lamb shank tagine - ummmm, excuse me?!?! What do you mean the meat is like butter? It literally falls off the bone and dissolves in your mouth. Rich, fatty, unctuous and truly a delight. The bed of couscous it came with was also great - made better by the sauce from the lamb shank. The highlight of this plate were the roasted prunes that are part of the sauce. Sweet, jammy prunes cooked into the sauce made them just truly a delightful mouthfeel in comparison to the couscous and the scrumptious meat. To top it all off, the cherry on top, is their comforting Moroccan mint tea. So very fresh and the perfect end to an absolutely DELIGHTFUL meal. Highly recommended!!!

The gentleman serving us seemed to be the only one there, but he was friendly. We ordered a taktouka sampler, mixed grill platter, and lamb shank tagine. If you go to a Moroccan restaurant, you've got to get tagine. It took a little while for the food to come out, but overall it was excellent. The taktouka sampler was full of veggies. It was tasty, but I wish the carrots were cooked more to soften them. The mixed grill platter had chicken and beef kabobs, as well as something like a kefta (ground meat) kabob. The meats and rice were good, although the beef and chicken could have been more tender and juicy. The white sauce was a nice accompaniment. The lamb shank was excellent; nice tender meat, tasty rice, and delicious supplemental flavors from the figs and apricots. Overall, a very nice lunch.

The kitchen is all the way visible, with nothing to hide. A number of Doner roasters and fryers on the back wall, and through the glass all of the preparation bins were RIGHT THERE. It all looked superb and fresh. The billboard menu above was easy to read, although if you don't know what Bashka or Mansaf is, you're not going to find out anything there. The Gal behind the counter (at least on the day I was there) seemed to not have the best command of English, although she was most polite and professional. I had never heard of a "Puffy" Pita, so of course I swung with a "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita with Everything". They were making Falafels for another order, and they looked swell, so I piped an order of 3 as a side dish. Upon walking in, there was a cart that had an assortment of Middle-Eastern Pickles (Which I have a remarkable affinity for). When you order them, they hand you a clamshell and you return to the cart to "Pick your own". A perfect diversion while your food is prepared to order. There was a pile of fab-looking Baklavas in clamshells in the ordering window, and they were SO fab-looking I had to throw one in on my order. Well. I got in the car and HAD to try one of the Falafels while they were hot and crispy (Wife was driving). Need to say, these might have been the best Falafels I've ever had. Chock full of flavor, with a mighty crunch, and this was even without a dunk in the provided Tahini sauce. I savaged the entire order of 3 before we got home. The "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita" was a handful, and it too, was a flavor extravaganza. I don't know exactly what constitutes a "Crispy Fluffy Pita", but this one was really delish. On another, later visit I had just a "Puffy Lamb Pita" which was notch below the Crispy morsel, but still yum. The Garlic and Pomegranate sauces on the side were tasty, but the CripsyPuffy really did not need any help in the flavor department. Wife had procured me a Hot Tender from "Fry The Coop" a few doors down from Hello Shawarma here, and I was dipping it in the Hello Shawarma sauces to the Chicken Tender's advantage. The Baklava was, as it turned out, not simply good, it was OUTSTANDING! Full disclosure, with the absence of Arak on my booze shelf, I substituted a nice glass of Ouzo on the rocks to quaff with my meal, and it was a perfect call So I'm throwing 5 for this fab chain, a fine mid-eastern meal indeed! I was so into it, I forgot to snap any photos!!! Next time, I'm going to over-order and get Bashka AND Mansaf...

Unfortunately when I went on a Friday afternoon the dining area was closed. Looked like they were filming and taking pictures. They were in the kitchen too. Anyway, I placed an order to go and less than 10 minutes later I was out the door. Ordered the BAM cheeseburger and small fries. A little pricey but then everything is. The mixture of beef and lamb is luxurious. Great blend and let's hear it for a good old fashioned char burger! The spices and sauce are subtle yet distinctive and unique. Wonderful flavors throughout. The fries are the larger/thick cut that I usually don't enjoy, but these were fried perfectly and had a great texture. Now I'm going to be nit picky on the build of the burger. And this is obviously personal preference. The burger patty is a generous size. However, the cheese was so melted and thin, I barely noticed. The onion was a raw white onion and also a generous cut. I would prefer a red onion or grill them. As it was, the onion kind of dominated the flavor. The tomato, pickles, and lettuce were all good, which added up to a tall build. Finally, a brioche bun. I know, the world loves a brioche bun. On a burger, I don't want the extra sweetness of brioche. Give me a good old potato bun or sesame seed bun instead. Nothing bad about any of the above. Great service, fast and friendly. I look forward to the dining room open and trying a gyro plate! I'll be back for sure.
