Hurdle's has a great relationship with their ring makers, which made the process seamless. I found a ring design I loved and wanted to modify, and they provided multiple modification options--from their in-house team and the ring maker. The wax model they created was a game-changer, helping me visualize the final product perfectly. My engagement ring turned out so beautifully that I trusted them with two other custom projects for my wedding. For my wedding necklace, I wanted to use the stone from my proposal ring. I asked for recommendations on how to add interest without overshadowing the main stone, and they delivered stunning designs. I also worked with Haley to create a custom wedding band. Like Aria, Haley was incredibly helpful, offering suggestions and sharing her extensive knowledge of different stones, settings, and metals. I was more indecisive with the wedding necklace and wedding band design, going back and forth on several ideas. Haley was exceptionally patient, listened to my evolving vision, and helped me narrow it down while managing my expectations. The result is a both a wedding necklace and wedding band I absolutely adore. My fiancé is equally impressed with their knowledge and service, so much so he purchased his wedding band from them too! I highly recommend Hurdle's for any custom jewelry needs. I recommend seeing them sooner rather than later to make sure you have time to work on the design, make changes, and have it made. Some of their employees will only go off hallmarks instead of taking the time to test precious metals using other testing methods. They did not do any kind of buyout process for the stones in the pieces I melted either. In addition, they lack options to create a custom piece. They only had one fine chain option in gold, which was surprising. I decided not to go that route and instead ordered a designer piece. I waited around for about two months to hear for them. I finally called and was informed there had been an issue with the piece, and it had to be remade, yet no one could tell me why. When the remake came in, it was not what I had discussed with the owner. I opted for another designer piece, but they didn't have it in the length I wanted. They told me they could order it but that I would have to commit to it without even seeing the stone first. I contacted the designer directly and found out that the piece was a standard option on their website and that if I ordered through them, I wouldn't have had to commit if I didn't like the stone. It was too late for me to order directly as HJ had already added the extra length. I should have reached out to the designer sooner. I was charged a hefty labor fee for a minor adjustment to the chain. They made no mention of the labor fee and then claimed they gave me a discount on labor as if they did me a huge favor. Most jewelers I've worked with offer complimentary resizing and minor adjustments when a minimum purchase is met. I was often talked down to and made to feel incompetent through my entire experience. HJ took no accountability for their actions during any of the interactions I had with them. I could have saved a few hundred dollars ordering directly from the designer due to Boulders' hefty taxes/fees and HJ's labor fee. I like to support small businesses, but I wouldn't support this one again.

Their watchmaker came back and said that I needed a new mechanism (fine). The watch was returned to me with the inscription on the back of the watch off center, something not noted. They all seemed baffled that this would be a problem. I won't go back. Maybe they are ok on the jewelry side, but they should not list watches as an area of expertise.

That's not the look that my ring originally has. We originally take our work to Snyder's jewelers but they're switching ownership and we're closed so we tried this place out. It is on locally and I was happy to support that however, when I receive my ring, I was disappointed in the finish it has. When I first dropped it off they said they would call me at the beginning of the week and they never called me. I called them at the end of the day on Wednesday to find out the total cost. I just don't feel as if their customer service and attention to detail is as good as Snyder so just felt a little disappointing. Make sure that if you do use them that they document everything so that they get it right the first time. She did offer to keep it and continue to work on it but at this point, I just wanted my ring back because my hand felt bear and I didn't wanna wait any longer so needless to say I will not be returning here not even for them to fix their shortcoming, even after she mentioned that she didn't write the notes down for the jeweler as well as remembering talking to me about it. In my opinion to a jeweler that sees the previous polishing should have also asked her if there was any discussion of the satin finish to confirm the jeweler did what was most convenient for them. Also, a discount was not offered for their shortcoming. The prong that they did repair as well as the tipping seems to be good work.

Close to $300 later, I was not satisfied. He has lost my trust and lost me as a customer.

On 8/28/25 I took a Wittnauer 245T GMT Chronograph watch to Gerald for repair - it had not run for…read more20+ years. As I was there in the shop talking to Gerald, his assistant popped off the back of the watch and it started running. I agreed to leave the watch with Gerald for cleaning; he said 1.5 to 2 months. After more than 2 months of no contact from Gerald including not returning 2 phone calls and 1 email, I went to retrieve my watch. Nothing had been done but Gerald promised he would get to it within 2 weeks. He called me 2/3 days later (2nd week of Nov) saying the watch looked good but was "sticky" and needed cleaning. I finally retrieved my watch on 1/8/26 after he finally cleaned it. However, he also had broken a spring related to returning the second hand on the watch's stopwatch function (he said it was "weak") and he had polished off the lower half of the numbers on the bezel destroying the tachymeter function. No offer of paying for repairs although he did not cash the check I gave him for the cleaning. I would definitely NOT give him any more business.
