But when the unthinkable happened my husband quickly reached out to Lou. He told me not to look anywhere else he is someone you can trust. When the moment came all of the details were taken care of and highly organized. Then came the moment where we had to sit with him and discuss next steps. I had no clue but he patiently guided us and made sure every thing was carefully thought of with no rush. His employees were EXCELLENT! From choosing the casket, getting the right image and verbiage for the obituary. Making sure that they had a few pictures of her so that they could apply right makeup and hair style, it was amazing. Beware if they do not know you; if you are not a "homie."…read more Confusion due to unprofessional favoritism towards the survivor (homie) who referred the caretaker survivor (with ability to pay) to Gaines in the first place. Gaines refused to allow the paying caretaker survivor, who was also legally appointed by decedent, to fully honor the memory of the decedent. Senior extended family members who knew the decedent have expressed sadness and disappointment that Gaines would engage in "shady" practices. Only one person was satisfied; that one who colluded with Gaines, creating a contract that omitted the paying survivor, and then walked away with the overpayment in his pocket. He who signs the agreement should be the one who pays! Bottom line: any value was destroyed by Gaines blatant participation in messy behavior and refusing to consider the desires of the payer who is an equal survivor and the only person legally authorized by decedent to disburse funds on behalf of the decedent. God sees and God knows.
