One of my companies trucks broke down on the LIE and we called Hempstead Tires, I believe because we used them before in the past. The truck was Carrying some important material and couldn't be left there. I had to go pick the stuff up and drop it off. When I got there I noticed the large space and multiple entry point into the property. It was convenient ,I thought to myself. I saw the owner and made myself know. He ignored me. He didn't even say hold on. He just looked at me and continued on his phone call. I thought that was rude but continued to wait. A worker walked in and I tried talking to him and I also was ignored by him. I was about to say something when the owner hung up the phone. I asked about the truck and he had no clue what I was talking about. Now I began to become frustrated. He turned to his employee who was aware of the truck but didn't know the trucks location. I spoke to my job and we located the trucks route. So we are paying for a service that we do the work for them? I'm sure in the future I will try to Secure a better company with better customer service. read more

I only used them a few times to get a patch on my tire and each time was inexpensive and efficient. After a recent wind storm there was a lot of tree debris all over the streets and I managed to have a half inch wide branch get stuck in my tire. They repaired it as soon as I arrived and I was only a half hour late for work - A++ in my book! read more

A rip off. They sold me a used tire with a hole patched up in the shoulder part. When I brought it back a couple of days later even their own mechanics said that It was no good. Buyer beware. Ordered 4 new tires for my Mercedes ml350 and were installed during the past snow storm. Paid like $1250 and found out they installed summer radials which cost less than $80 each. Called the owner who insisted that it was "ok". Well I wasn't and paid for a different tire. They knew I caught on and replaced the tires with the ones I originally asked for. Oh by the way, who buys summer tires in New York? Called manufacturer who insisted that the summer tires cannot be effective in snow. Wonder how many accidents occur from such action You figured that they would apologize and say it was a mistake. No way. They felt that they were doing me a solid by changing my tires!! Thank god I had a bill that stated the tires I wanted. I needed tires for one of my other cars and decided to go to Mavis. I was first surprised to find out I paid $250 more at Hempstead tire than Mavis ! That's my stupidity for having trust in a place I use go to for the past 25 years. I came for my inspection the the son of the head guy told me i wouldn't pass It with out even try it , Went out to get my light turned off and Came back told me it wouldn't pass it again so i drove the car really far , Came back and MIKE told me "your back again, Not again, You know you're not passing it." i told him can you at least try ... and he responded "okay but your light is on you're not gonna pass it". Horrible service i shouldn't be walking in this place to receive an attitude or negativism. I went to a different place and i passed my inspection. all they wanted was for me to pay them to do work on it when my car was fine . i'm a customer they should be trying to help me. The owner is a thief, he overcharge me for replacing tires $100 for 20 minute job he did not use any material just labor. He told me one price the week before and he change the price after he did the job, he did not like I bought my own tires online. He would have to give me the price before he started the job I would have gone somewhere else. Two different places told me $50 for the same job. Get the price upgront from the guy if you don't want to get ripped off. Plenty other honest business around. read more

Hempstead tire is a great place if you need your tire repaired. So far I've had two tires repaired there, going on 3. You can just walk in and most times you're out in less than a half hour. They are cheap and will take you in as soon as you pull up. read more

Got my oil changed for very cheap! Had them check my brakes and battery since i had my car for about 4 years now. They took my car for a quick spin to test out the brakes and also manually looked at the brake pads and battery, but told me it was fine. They were very honest, most places would just tell you you needed to get it replaced regardless. They were very nice and take you without any appointment. Recommend going as soon as they open, they even took me 10 minutes before 8 which is when they open on Saturdays. Highly recommend. Nice people, fast service, and all at a great price. read more

Went there with a nail in my tire. After 10 minutes all done. Sent me to the counter and pay. - the guy said 16$. As I was reaching for my wallet the other guy next to him looked at me and said $25. I felt like I am being robed based on how I look :). 25$ charge for taking 1 nail from the tire is a real ripoff. That was my second time there/hopefully last! I have been here many times in the past, but will never come here again!!!! I brought my car in for a tire patch. Waited 15 mins before they got to my car. I told the guy who was patching my tire to please be careful and not to scratch the center cap on my car. So he goes to take it off and instead of gently popping it off and guiding it with his hand carefully, he just lets it fall on the concrete floor and now one of my chrome center caps that cost me $89 each, is now no longer new . It is scratched up and dinged. I went right to find the kid who looked like he was in charge and said to him what just happened. He looked at me and just walked away without even saying a word to me. After the tire is put back on, I went into the counter and the kid tells me the total and still doesn't acknowledge my complaint. I said to him... "really you have absolutely nothing to say about my center cap?" He replied back as if it's no big deal and said yeah the caps pop off. Yeah they do pop off but atleast put some effort into caring for people's car and not damaging them. I paid $16 for your shop to cost me another $89 in damages. Then he's like looking at it like it's no big deal and says - "well we will be more careful next time". Which I could tell was a lie, based on the look he had on his face. His look was like "are you serious your complaining about this?" Don't bring your car here. Bring it to a place that will care for your car like it's their own. That will take responsibility for their negligence. Hempstead tire doesn't. I mean you damage a brand new center cap and don't even apologize until I call you completely out on it. Then you have the audacity to still charge me $16. Priceless..... read more

I am so happy I found this place! I had an issue with one of the Continental tires I bought from Walmart. After going back and forth with Walmart and Continental for about 2 weeks, Walmart wouldn't help me (never buying tires from them again, they clearly did not care for their consumers safety) and Continental basically told me to try my luck with some tire dealers but to beware that they may refuse to assist me since I did not buy the tires from them and didn't give them my business in the first place. I did not want to spend money on a new tire considering I've only had the tires on my car for 2 months, I came across Hempstead Tire Service and they were like a breath of fresh air after getting the runaround for 2 weeks. I came in and Bobby was extremely welcoming and helpful with getting my faulty tire changed without me having to pay for a new one. Mike who inspected my tire was great also. They ordered me a new tire and it was there the next day. They were fast, extremely helpful and efficient. By far one of the best customer service experiences I've ever encountered! I did my brother a favor i took his truck out to get inspection at hempstead tires. Guy from the counter comes out asking me where I bought the tires for the truck. I said I don't know this is my brothers truck. His answer call your brother and tell him to get his truck inspected where ever he bought the tires from with a nasty attitude and refused to do the inspection because my brother didn't buy tires from them. Brought my car for an oil change. When picked up, I was charged $69.95 and was told "we used synthetic oil. it is more expensive than regular oil because it takes twice as long to change." I said I have never paid so much for an oil change. Was asked if this is a leased car, because leased cars get synthetic oil. I said this is not a leased car. The mechanic tried to tell me new cars get synthetic oil. This is a 2013 Corolla. I asked if I could have opted out and used regular oil. The mechanic said yes but kept saying it is more expensive because it takes twice as long to change. Regrettably, I paid and left. Will never return. read more

I went to get my drive belts and oil pan replaced. They didn't install the oil pan correctly. The adhesives they used didn't last, the oil pan bolts wasn't on tight enough. WHAT A POOR JOB, NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more
