Have had 2-3 bad experiences with their service department. First, they tried upselling me on an engine air filter for almost $100, when I can buy one myself for much cheaper ($20 for OEM online) Next, their customer service is not the best. It's a busy dealership so expect to wait at least 2 hours for a simple oil change or tire rotation. At least they have wifi and beverages to drink. I brought my husband's car in for a routine service thinking that I'd have to call an Uber, but they said the service would be pretty fast so I waited. They had a nice waiting area with a free coffee machine and waters. There was also a quiet area with no kids allowed. I just wish they had free snacks available. I should have learned my lesson by now that Hendick's Toyota no longer provides the quality of service it once did. But I had enough hope that just maybe they were sincere on making positive changes. When I arrived, there was a wait to check in, then my tires and windshield wipers were closely inspected so that seemed odd and had never been done before. I must have seemed like a target for the upsell. Back in December, I was promised the service advisor that I booked with. Well, he didn't work there anymore and it looked like mostly new people working. The one in the service lane knew nothing about this either so it wasn't put in my file. If the advisor I wanted wasn't available I was to get the service manager and that is what they put on my paperwork. But I never spoke to him once and was not informed the vehicle was ready either. I don't understand the point of putting someone's name on the paperwork if there is no follow through. I was also told the overbookings would stop. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I was told my inspection would take an hour so why I was there almost two hours is ridiculous. This dealership does not honor the appointment times or value my time. The harassment from the sales agents was to stop too. I didn't receive the texts or voice-mails on my drive to the dealership but by the time I got home there was an email from the over-aggressive sales department. This tactic is a great way to push potential customers elsewhere. Only the state inspection was done and not the unnecessary work like before. So that was good. Now if the statements made in December happened and my time was valued they might have gotten me to return for future service. read more

This is the worst dealer service department I've ever dealt with. I really wanted to like them because I had such good experiences with Hendrick Chevrolet. But the guys at Hendrick Toyota Apex are about as incompetent as they come. I've had problems with them at least every other trip there. Right now they're trying to tell me that an accident that I had in March is responsible for a check engine light that started coming on in January. The car only had about 3100 miles on it when the light first came on on January 4. I hit a road hazard on March 30 at about 8700 miles and somehow that's the reason the check engine light is on. This will be the last car I buy from them for sure. Update: First of all, it wasn't a one-hour diagnostic. I was there for 7 hours on 5.1.26. I didn't hear anything from anyone for the first 5 hours and when I finally did hear from Michael Walker I was still there another 2 hours while they misdiagnosed the problem and replaced the wrong part so I left with the check engine light still on. Then they replaced it again Thursday and the check engine light came on again Friday after work. Then they finally found the actual problem on Saturday. But way before that, the light initially came on on January 24. It shows that in the 'vehicle alerts' screen. I had only had the car less than 2 months at that time. I made an appointment but the light went off. When I called they said 'If the light went off, there's nothing we can do'. On January 29 it came on again and stayed on longer. Again, I made an appointment but the light went off. When I called they said 'If the light went off, there's nothing we can do'. Then on 3.30.26, lucky for them, I hit a road hazard. Several days later, the light came on again. Not their problem now though. It MUST be the road hazard's fault now. It seems the check engine light was never going to be their problem. They can sell the cars and make the easy money but they can't stand behind them. I'm glad this happened honestly. I would have stuck by this weak company just because I liked the Hendrick name and fake peace of mind but now that I've seen what they're really about, I'll be looking for a more honest, reliable place to handle my family's vehicles. read more

Extremely disappointed by the disrespectful and unprofessional treatment our family received at Hendrick Toyota Apex on April 26 and 27, 2026. We visited as a family to explore the Toyota Sienna. We were completely transparent that we were only looking and test-driving that day. When we respectfully explained that our cultural and family traditions only allow us to make major commitments at auspicious times, the General Sales Manager responded with mockery and sarcasm. He laughed and sarcastically asked, "What is not auspicious? Is it not an auspicious time now?" while making derogatory facial expressions toward our entire family, including our children. The experience felt belittling and humiliating. The next evening, when I returned with my son and proof of a better offer from another dealer, the same manager accused me of shopping deals right in front of my son. His condescending and hostile attitude made my son so uncomfortable that he begged me to leave and buy elsewhere. Despite the poor treatment, we still purchased the white Sienna because our family loved the vehicle. However, the entire experience left us feeling deeply hurt, embarrassed, and disrespected, especially as parents watching our children witness such behavior. We expected much higher standards from Hendrick Toyota. Cultural sensitivity, basic respect, and professional conduct should be the minimum when dealing with families. read more

Called on 2/19/2026 about two open federal safety recalls (NHTSA #09V444) on my 2000 Toyota Tundra. Was told twice by two different representatives that neither recall could be performed in North Carolina and that I'd need to drive to Virginia. This is incorrect -- Toyota Campaign BZD was specifically created for dealers outside cold climate states. When I asked to record the call for my personal notes, I was ignored three times and forcefully transferred. I only found out the recall CAN be done here because I called back to complain about being ignored. If I had taken the first answer at face value, I would have been wrongly denied a free safety repair on a truck with serious frame corrosion. The supervisor I eventually spoke with apologized, but this shouldn't have happened. Service staff need better training on recall eligibility. I've filed complaints with Toyota Corporate, NHTSA, the NC Attorney General, and the BBB. UPDATE (3/11/2026): Hendrick completed the BZD recall (fuel tank strap replacement) on 2/26/2026 after escalation. David Sanders, Fixed Operations Director, was professional and handled the scheduling smoothly once it was escalated. Campaign BXD (CRC corrosion protection application) still requires a cold-climate state dealer -- I'm in the process of scheduling that separately in Virginia. Updating from 1 star to 2 stars. The initial experience of being wrongly turned away twice should not have happened, but the resolution process once escalated was handled well. read more

I took my sons Toyota Tundra to replace the serpentine belt the service team was overwhelmIng looking for reviews. It was Thanksgiving weekend and we were visiting family. It took most of the day to install. The mechanic recommended we replace the pulleys as well. We asked and they said they would have to charge for removing the splash plates again. Instead of telling us when they were down initially. We took the truck and it was squealing upon starting which it never did. When we got home we found the mechanic never tightened the bolt that holds the pulley. It's a reverse thread so he must have been an idiot or working on commission. (I would have put this on the FB review page, but it would not allow it. I wonder why? First service visit cost $390 for check engine light, diagnostics performed and a part replaced. The next day the same issue returned. I made a 6:30 am appointment and upon arriving was inform the mechanics do not arrive until 7:00 am. The second time they performed a smoke test, which should have been done the first time, and resulted in finding a different issue. This time it cost me $410, but only after I begged for a discount (the "manager" gave me $75 off. I did receive a free "loaner vehicle" but no operator training on its use, resulting in not knowing how to put it in park! Both times I was charged the ridiculous "MISC CHG" and Service Charges equating to $60.87, yes it was explained to me but I do not agree with it. This 2022 Toyota Tacoma only has about 28,000 miles on it, does not get used off-road, and it sits inside a nice cozy garage when not in use. The problem should not have occurred so soon. It was a Manufacturer's defect and should have been covered. Alas, it was a few months beyond the 36 months. read more

They were professional, respectful, communicative, and made what should be a stressful process feel straightforward and positive. Because of them, I will give a 5 star rating However, my experience with Quincy was the complete opposite and deeply concerning. Without my permission, without clear disclosure, and without my approval, Quincy added thousands of dollars' worth of items to my loan. I later discovered that these additions totaled approximately $7,000--none of which I knowingly agreed to or was properly informed about at the time. I trusted his word, and that trust was abused. I was misled and effectively swindled into add-ons I did not approve. This behavior felt underhanded, dishonest, and frankly unacceptable--especially toward someone acting in good faith. It is the kind of conduct that seriously damages trust and reflects poorly on the dealership as a whole. An employee engaging in this type of behavior should be addressed and held accountable, not protected. I was very close to leaving a zero-star review, but I realized that would not be fair to Anthony and Kyle, who absolutely deserve recognition for their integrity and professionalism. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Great employees should be rewarded--and dishonest behavior toward customers should never be tolerated. And a note to Quincy Shame on you this was my first new car ever and I thought you were an honest person but clearly you were not I'm a hard working gal who was finally able to afford well not really able to afford a new car but I'll scape by and your dishonesty is shameful, how many others have you done this to ? I have usually been disappointed, but have kept going to this dealer occasionally for genuine Toyota parts.... today was no exception. The big picture: high service prices, padded extra charges and up-selling of unnecessary maintenance. $400 - $500 fair value work comes back with a pressured estimate of $1,200 which today included unnecessary windshield wiper blades, a brake flush and replacement of brake pads that were recently checked with plenty of brake pad left. And a $48.95 "service charge" hidden amidst about 25 line items of charges. I was very specific about what I wanted done in my written online appointment, but the service rep focused almost entirely on the (unwanted) up-sell items .... There was little concern or discussion about the items I specifically brought the car in for. The appointment was set up as "waiting" but there was no sense of urgency or accommodation of that, only placed on a long-wait trailing docket. No communication at the end, I had to go find my service rep. Interesting, they sent me an email about 3/4 of the time through to say my appointment was cancelled, because I didn't show. But I was there, 2.5 hours before the email. "It's our new system, always does that, makes a duplicate reservation and then cancels one...." I paid about $595 with a coupon they sent me, which included a $48.95 "service charge" hidden amongst 25 line items. There was some resistance to taking that coupon. The overall price was high, but not a ripoff with the coupon. I pondered these and other annoyances as I walked back to my car, in the rain, which they parked away from the tent shelter that was the makeshift weather-protected car pickup. When I climbed back into my car, the driver floor mat was rolled up and squashed against the driver wheel well, the seat was not restored to original position (it was pushed way back, apparently, to accommodate a giraffe), etc. I was relieved to be finished with the long ordeal that faced me when I got up 6:00am that morning. UPDATE: The service manager emailed me, sounded urgent about wanting a response and also it looked like a phone call, no message left. Took my 2015 Taco in for 100k service. After free inspection received a list of services worth +$9k. Unfortunately know a bit about cars and most of the recommended services were absolutely not required and in their mind urgently needed. If you done know much about cars, I would recommend to stay away from this service center. To top it off, after spending $1,500 in repairs, did not even get a car wash and was left standing there waiting for any of multiple socializing reps. A week later they offered to trade in my truck. Nice scam, quote high repair costs, sell you on a new vehicle, and pick up a cheap trade in. As a senior & female I really rely on my relationship with my Toyota dealership because I travel allot & at night especially. I was extremely grateful that the service manager David took the time out of his busy schedule to address & I'm sure ultimately resolve any problems with my classic car. We found a few items missing under the hood & they will be replaced. Seth & Marcus were also very courteous today. I appreciate that Toyota & this dealership has sales on tires, (mine are "rare" & expensive) etc. that can help offset the rising cost of maintenance on a car nowadays. I appreciate being warned about tire tread amounts, & my brakes because they help one's peace of mind especially traveling. I always think of Hendrick's Toyota when I wish to replace a vehicle & I'm sure they could offer the same great service & value to others. Caleb was who I checked in with when I arrived. I do like that I could stay in the comfort of my vehicle until someone approached me. There was a wait of around 20 minutes before I got assistance. Caleb is nice, pleasant, and professional. I noticed he assisted in checking in another vehicle that had just driven up after I arrived, and I had been waiting for several minutes. I dropped my car off for a few hours to get maintenance done. I would have taken my vehicle someplace else for the complete service had the information been delivered upfront about the backorder parts. I don't feel I made the best use of my time here, and my time wasn't respected. I felt a bit lost during checkout. Staff walked past me as I was lingering and didn't offer assistance. Once inside we were made to sit and wait while she came up with an original offer from the manager, however, that same offer was readily available on the Internet. When we mentioned we did not have all day to sit in the showroom and negotiate, especially given we wanted to look at other vehicles, the sales associate gave us a very snarky response and said "oh NOW you don't have time.? " She then proceeded to grill us about what other cars, makes, models and mileage we thought we could do better with. When the sales manager came over, he laughed and said good luck looking at other vehicles today we are the only dealership that's open. The entire experience left me feeling both manipulated and belittled. I had full intention of purchasing that vehicle but after my experience at that dealer, there is no way they will get my business. Went in today to ask about a certain service for my SUV and the service advisors most of them who were standing around doing nothing but talking to each other while I was just standing there, looking around as to who was going to help me. Finally, I walked up to one of them and asked if he was available to help me with a quote for a certain service for my vehicle. The service advisor did not know and so he went to ask another service advisor and instead of being professional about a price that I've gotten online from a different dealer compared to the prices that they were quoting me there was a significant price difference of almost $800. I will never return to this dealership ever again even if my vehicle is under warranty, I would rather drive two hours away from here then to deal with those guys they're at the Apex Toyota. We recently went to buy a car and had settled on a new Rav 4 Hybrid XLE. Olawale gave us a great experience on the test drive going through different types of roads and answering all of our questions. Next, we worked with the manager Teauna to compare different options since they didn't have the exact model we wanted on the lot. Both Olawale and Teauna went out of their way to find a car that was at another dealer and have it shipped within 1-2 weeks, even offering a rental car to cover the gap between what our insurance covered (our last car was totaled). They made sure to consider the specific color we wanted and features we really cared about, and were able to remove the extra options we didn't need to help get us a great deal. After all that, we ended up having a last minute change of heart and going with a different car the next morning. Despite us causing such a hassle, Olawale and Teauna still went out of their way to help get us a refund on the deposit we put down anyway. I brought my car in for service today. I had a $20 off coupon that I accidentally left in my friend's car when he dropped me off at the dealership. I told my Service Manager this and he told me he couldn't honor the coupon. Seriously?! There is NO BARCODE on it or anything to scan and the expiration date is 1/3/24. I've been coming to this dealership for several years now and have spent a lot of money. The dealership emails all the time and says I'm part of the "Loyalty Rewards" program. Be Warned - Ask Questions & Know Your Options If you're a young buyer, a woman, or just someone who isn't well-versed in the car-buying process, take this as a warning. Like most dealerships, they will present things in a way that maximizes their sale--so you must ask a lot of questions. I specifically asked for a breakdown of the fees, and the salesperson brushed it off, saying, "Nobody asks that," then never provided one. That should have been a red flag. Looking back, I realize my inexperience was used against me, and I was pressured into rolling unnecessary add-ons into my loan--without being given clear, upfront alternatives. For example, I was told GAP insurance was important (which I already knew), but instead of being informed that I could get it for a lower cost through my own insurance provider, they pushed their overpriced option. Worse, I had already declined the oil change plan earlier in the process, but by the end, I was told it "just came with" the GAP insurance. So, in order to get what I actually needed, I was forced into paying for something I had explicitly said I didn't want. By the time I was mentally exhausted from the hours-long process, I was misled into believing I had to accept these terms--ultimately increasing my monthly payment. I'm currently working to get this sorted, but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the stress of fighting to undo what should have been an honest, transparent conversation from the start. So if you're buying here, be prepared to advocate for yourself. Ask for a written breakdown of all fees before signing anything, and don't let anyone make you feel like your questions aren't valid. I had to make an appointment I got there on time and waited 2 hours and 50 mins to get my car back. What was the point of making that appointment. This is tough to rate. I used to enjoy the experience of bringing my car to this dealership for service. They were quick to intake and quick turnaround. Now it's hit or miss on the intake and turnaround is bad to awful. Here's a few tips if you decide to have your car serviced here. 1. Leave your car. You're almost guaranteed to be here longer than the estimate given. 2. If you need tires shop around and then go to Chapel Hill Tires just down the road. They will beat anyone by 10%. They're professional and have a great set up for paying and picking up after hours. I am currently sitting in the lobby while writing this review. I have been here for 2.5 hours waiting on an oil change. I made an appointment for 3pm (Thursday) and arrived at 2:49, but it took 10 min for someone to approach me and check me in. Only reason I came to this service center is because I get free oil changes from a package that came with the car. Last time I was here it took 3 hours for me to get a state inspection. Once my free oil change package runs out I will not be returning to this service center. Unless you have time to kill I would suggest going somewhere else for service. I was very disappointed with my experience at Hendricks Toyota. We brought our vehicle for a routine maintenance. Our sunvisor had also fallen off on the driver side. I asked if they would be able to fix that. When they looked at it, they said that the mounting apparatus was shot andthe entire inside frame would have to be replaced to be able to fix the visor. It would've cost an exorbitant amount of money. I took it to my local store, they said it just needed a bigger screw put in and sure enough they fix the problem in two minutes and only charged me $1.25 and fixed the problem with an honest smile read more
