This is a nice upscale restaurant with valet parking only, but it's hard to find any street parking, so it's worth it and having a few dollars set aside for tip. Inside, the ambiance is classy and there is a large bar area. The service was good, and my glass was never empty, which I know is sometimes tough when one is with a large party. I got the filet mignon, which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bread was nice soft white bread. We had an appetizer of zucchini and eggplant chips which were good but pretty salty. The kobe beef hot dog was nice but not worth the price. The Mediterranean salad came with a giant wedge of feta. We also ended up sharing a bunch of desserts and the fruit platter. The chocolate cloud cake was a real winner, but the cheesecake and the coconut layer cake were great versions of those dishes. The buttermilk pancakes were small and as thin as cellophane, organza or chiffon. It was not worth the money. You only receive two and it really only looks like one. The hash is not real hash by that I mean the hash is more like pulled pork than hash with potatoes. You will leave hungry and wondering what you paid that money on. You will feel cheated out of your money. Quality was extremely poor and disappointing. However, beautiful history and building for ambiance. Hendrick's Tavern is a traditional comfortable old school style restaurant with accents of its long-standing building history. From what I read, it is in the restored estate home of Hendrick Onderdonk, built 1740. The main dining room is decorated with classic photographs, antiquities, and leather seating. The George Bar, named for a one-time visitor George Washington, has flat screen TV's and traditional old style bar seating. The bar resembled a saloon, or as one might call a cantina, or bughouse. Better a gin mill. We were at Hendrix Tavern for Mother's Day, so it was quite crowded. All the rooms including the extended event dining areas were active with patrons. We ordered from the brunch menu and enjoyed appetizers such as grilled octopus, and zucchini eggplant chips along with pancakes, shrimp salad and bagel and lox platter. read more

Had an amazing time here, we made a reservation and were seated after only waiting a few minutes. Immediately brought bread to the table and the service was quick and professional. Everything we got was absolutely delicious and we didn't have to wait long at all. It is pricey I will admit but for the quality of service it feels worth it. Came here for my friend's birthday. She's been wanting to eat here for a while and was familiar with it. It was my 1st time. The service was grand. Very attentive and helpful, even though they seems a bit understaffed. Despite that we were not bothered as we were having a great time. We ordered apperizers were phenomenal! The mussels, clams and the eggplant and zucchini chips were so good that we ate every morsel! Excellent! We had entrées including the tempura shrimp and two surf and turfs, one with filet mignon, the other with lamb chops. They were all so good. The drinks were good and the ambiance was splendid. George Washington styled and a lot of his pictures. It was upscale and the environment was nice. The only complaint we had was that we ordered a bottle wine that wasn't chilled, just placed on the table. That was not in line with what we expected. I'm sure the bill was expensive, but my girlfriends boyfriend paid without flinching. It's one of those places where, if you have to look at the prices, you shouldn't be there. After my last negative experience, I contacted the restaurant to make a complaint. It took a few days before I was contacted by management. I was impressed he was able to identify my prior reservation and location of our table. He took down all the problems I had last time. He said he was going to view the video cameras to see everything. Well, this guy never got back to me nor apologized for the experience I incurred at my expense! Done! Trash operation. The said ok 4:30 because they open outside at 4:15. I was Like ok. Put us in. We came there checked In and said ok you're early you can sit by the bar. No problem. Around 4:35 my husband went up to check and said they are setting up we will call you when it's done. Around 4:45 I went up and asked should we order another drink at the bar or will we be seated soon. They said it's still Not done being ready so you can either wait or have a seat indoors. Second time here at Hendrick's within 3 months and again we weren't disappointed with dinner. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. For the appetizer we ordered the large seafood tower ... so yum. For our entrees we had the Colorado ribeyes and veal chop and for sides, we had the sautéed mushrooms, the sweet corn and fries. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the veal chop was as well. The only complaint I had with the restaurant was the noise level. We were sitting to the side of the main dining area and it was very loud. I had to raise my voice just to speak to my husband and son, who were both next to me. Made reservations for 2 pm on a January Sunday afternoon for 3 people. Establishment is located in Roslyn. They have valet parking when you pull in since there isn't much residential parking nearby. It was pretty busy when we arrived, about 10 minutes early for our reservation so they invited us to wait in their waiting area which is a cozy seating area with a fire place and different types of areas to sit (couches, chairs, standing). The host and waiters were friendly and on point with taking care of food requests and questions throughout our eating experience. The main eating areas have a sitting bar area by the entrance, booth type seating, and traditional tables and chairs. We were seated in a traditional table and chair set up. We had the brunch menu to pick from and went with fried calamari and truffle fries to start, both winners and tasty. For drinks, we had beer, a Manhattan martini, espresso martini, and apple juice. The martinis were delicious! For entrees, we chose the meatball sliders, shrimp salad, and eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Thumbs up all around, great flavors, and although our meals didn't look like big portions, we had food to take home, probably due to the appetizers doing a good job filling half our stomach. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake, which had silky ganache flowing over the cake and white chocolate creme in the middle. Three waiters came with the cake and sang happy birthday to the little one we had who was celebrating his 10th birthday. We also got the cappuccino, cinnamon-y espresso goodness. Expect to spend $$$ here, appetizers range in the upper teens/$20's and brunch entrees range from $20's to $50+. But the food quality is as it should be and dining experience overall positive for the prices you pay. Valet brought our car around within a few minutes, don't forget to tip! Unfortunately could not give 5 stars due to the food we requested to take home being poorly packaged. There was food squashed between the outside of the containers and got all over our hands and one of our shirts when we took them out the to go bag. Fabulous meal for family night out and special occasions! Made a reservation easily online, and got seated quickly. This place is massive and you can't go wrong sitting anywhere, but I will say we got seated in the big glass room and it was so nice to have a view out. Our waiter, Nelson, was on top of things and so professional. He also handled my dad's corny dad jokes pretty well! He brought us bread and butter to start. I ordered the vegetable barley soup for an app and it was delicious! I got the lemon sole for my entree and it was 4/5. It just wasn't lemony at all! That was the only disappointment. But Nelson brought out lemons and I just sprayed it with some. My family got the 16 oz steak, the truffle fries, the roasted chicken, and the Mediterranean salad. Everyone loved their meals, but my mom said the salad was overpriced. I'd have to agree- I'm sure the ingredients cost them maybe $2 and they're selling it for $18. It was my dad's birthday so we ordered the chocolate cloud cake and they brought it out with a candle and a song. It was adorable. The whole room joined in. Such a great evening. Went out for a girls night and sat outside. The view was lovely and the weather was perfect. For appetizer we had the lobster Mac and cheese which was creamy and delicious. We also had the eggplant and zucchini chips. Can't wait to come back just to have this again. So good. For dinner we shared the scallops, a filet of sole dish, and Brussels sprout leaves. I planned my hunny's birthday dinner a month in advance. I made reservations for 9/21/21 at 7:30pm. There was a bit of traffic so I called prior to our reservation time to let them know we're running 10 mins late. I spoke to Joe who said, "that's fine" and thanked me for calling. Once we arrived we left the car with valet. We were greeted by the host who told us to wait ten minutes in the living room. I found this rather odd because 1) we had reservations 2) no one else was waiting to be seated 3) waiters passed us left and right as we waited 4) and it took longer than ten minutes for anyone employed at Hendricks to acknowledge us just waiting around. The irony in all of this is that I knew we were going to be overlooked because the host was one of the people that passed us as well and never provided any updates as we waited. Finally one of the previous employees that walked passed us peeked out the dining room and said, "oh I didn't know you were waiting. Follow me." Annoyed by this we followed her and I counted five empty tables. Why did we wait? Tables were readily available, but our dining experience was delayed due to the idiocy of the host. It seems that organization and structure is not a strong suit here. Several servers approached our table to give us complimentary bread, drinks, and menus. We weren't a fan of the bread nor the butter. The bread wasn't soft and the butter was rock hard. We started off with a virgin Mango Mojito and a glass of Cabernet. For our apps we ordered the Classic Fried Calamari and Zucchini and Eggplant Chips. We've had better calamari elsewhere. The rings were fried too hard and it was mostly made up of batter. We liked the consistency of the marinara sauce but it was on the bland side. The Zucchini and Eggplant Chips were the star of the show. They were lightly battered and fried perfectly. The chips were tasty on its own or with the garlic almond dip. For our entrees we ordered the Dry Aged Porterhouse For Two cooked medium, Creamed Spinach, and the Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese. Our 32 oz. porterhouse was seasoned well and the creamed spinach was delicious. I was not a fan of the lobster truffle Mac and cheese. At $31 for this particular app, I would think that there would be a decent amount of lobster pieces. Per another reviewer I agree that the truffle oil was overwhelming which made the Mac and cheese inedible. Albeit it wasn't to my liking my hunny enjoyed it. Our main server was good. He offered recommendations, accommodated our requests, and my obliged my request to serenade my hunny with Happy Birthday and his choice of dessert, the Chocolate Cloud Cake. Once dinner was wrapped up we encountered a very rude valet attendant. He went to retrieve the car, sped past us, and made a rude comment about how we were standing there with a blank stare on our faces. I retorted, um yeah we're confused about your behavior. He said oh the car may look different because of the rain. WHAT?! I was so baffled by his statement that I wanted to complain to the manager. Honestly he didn't deserve the $10 tip I gave him. I asked my hunny to get my change but he ignored me lol. I wasn't throughly impressed with this place and it came highly recommended. I really enjoyed coming here for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. It had the feel and vibe of a NYC steakhouse, which is rare to see on Long Island. First of all, the place is fairly large and it was packed!. They kind of have several distinct areas all of which have a slightly different style and decor. We sat in the back room which was much larger, quieter and spread out. We shared the calamari and octopus appetizers which also came with bread. The bread was solid, the calamari was tender but the octopus was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad per se, but I've had better and more tender. I ordered the branzino, which was well prepared, but heard the cajun ribeye, filet mignon and porterhouses were good. Not sure if it was above NYC steakhouses but seemed to be up there if not he same. We ordered the potatoes (homefires), creamed spinach, brussell sprout leaves and mushrooms. The potatoes were great and the rest of the sides were good. I've definitely had better creamed spinach and I'm not sure if I would order the brussell sprout leaves again. The mushrooms were standard. Service was top notch and very professional. The place also seemed to be a hot spot in the area as many were dressed up that evening. TLDR; decent service, decent steaks (not amazingly flavorful but good enough - loved that it had roasted garlic on the side), loved the creamed spinach and mushrooms, pricey $$$! My friends and I came on New Year's Eve for a birthday dinner and it was certainly packed inside! They had wreaths up as decor and also plenty of balloons inside as well. I was also shocked at how much space there was inside! When you first walk in, there's a full bar and even some high tables there but as you go further in, there were lots of rooms for dining. We had a reservation for 8, and had to wait for the whole party to arrive before being seated which was fine since they have a little den area for waiting and it was nice too. The service was okay. It was fairly quick to order and receive the food but a bit difficult to track down our waiter to get more drinks. However, it was New Year's Eve, so understand that they were busy. We ordered some drinks and apps for the table which started coming out slow at first but then when we got everything and were trying to enjoy them all, the entrees were already being placed on our table. At that point, it was a bit overwhelming for me since I was still JUST trying some of the appetizers but they were moving plates around trying to fit all our entrees on the table. There was so much food that my eyes were full and I had barely eaten anything yet. Afterwards, they didn't really come to check on us until we asked for the check. As for the food, appetizers were pretty good all around. I got the tomahawk ribeye 30 oz. and it was a huge portion, couldn't even eat half of it! And since we ordered a bunch of appetizers and sides as well, I was definitely full. The ribeye was pretty good, some parts a bit too charred. My friends got the prime bone-in ribeye 48 oz. which came with bone marrow and being the most expensive steak on the menu, I expected it to be more flavorful but the outside was also slightly too charred and not that flavorful either. I love that it came with roasted garlic on the side which I smeared over the steak to add extra flavor, that was needed. They also have different sauces for the steaks as well. I really liked their creamed spinach and mushrooms! There was so much flavor - mushrooms were sautéed well and juicy, spinach was perfectly creamy and some of the best that I've had. Skip their fries, it was too oily and nothing special. Personally, I'd only come for special occasions since prices are fairly high, not that surprising since it's a steakhouse, but it's a good for a nice dinner in Roslyn. We came during a busy time but still would've appreciated not being rushed since we were spending a good amount for our meal and service is part of the whole experience. Have been coming to this place well before it was Hendrick's; I really miss the old George Washington Tavern. They've updated this place with new paint and furniture so it doesn't have the same rustic vibe, especially on the old back porch/indoor area that really used to feel like you were eating in an outdoor space, not it's still cozy. This place has been our yearly Thanksgiving tradition for over a decade, and the best was the Thanksgiving buffet, unfortunately squashed because of Covid. The Thanksgiving dinner this year, however, was still great, with a huge heaping pile of turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and carrots, and cranberry sauce. We got the chicken and sea bass and both exceeded our expectations. Bathrooms are individual rooms, and they do have to close at 10 and follow those rules. He was short, unhelpful and added on a salad We had decided against. We sat down at about 840pm and we were told we had to order our entire meal at once because the place was busy and the cook couldn't handle it in pieces. This was after we said we were ready to order an app with our wine. Honestly, I wish I could take the evening back. As I said the food was good, but you're paying top tier prices and you should expect top tier service. Instead we got conveyer belt, I've got better things to do with my time service. A well deserved 5 star Tavern. Hendrick's Tavern is a very systematic restaurant with an organized flow of service. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a welcoming team of hostess / host. If for whatever reason your table or party is not ready to be seated... lucky you! You can grab a drink at the bar and hang out in their cozy lounge. Since I came here with a group of friends, I got to try a lot of items from the menu. I must say, the Sautéed Mushroom is a must try. The Go Figure (Bourbon Cocktail) and Pumpkin Smash (Bourbon Cocktail) are very unique and delicious. I love how each steak essentially includes a bulb of roasted garlic for you spread on to meat. Had a great first time experience and would love to come back again in the future. Note, menu items are on the pricier side and cuts / quality of meat is acceptable. read more

I was very happy I chose this place for vday because everything was great & wasn't prefix since it was vday. Everything came out fast & our waiter was super nice & attentive. (I forgot his name, Wah!) I started with a white cosmo which was so delicious, I had 2! My husband & I did our usual oysters, blue points for an app which were good & stuck to our usual steak entrees because it is a steak house & everything was great. Especially the mash potatoes which were an additional side. I definitely would recommend this place if you're in a mood for a good steak or a romantic date night. Also, they are kid friendly as I had my 2 babies with me & there was plenty of space for strollers. I definitely didn't feel awkward fine dining with 2 kids.
