I had a consult with Gehlan prior to my appointment where I discussed I wanted highlights to compliment my natural haircolor and a cut. I booked my appointment the next week and arrived at 2:00 pm and left at 5:29 pm. At no time during my time in the chair did he discuss he was going off our prior discussion and doing creative coloring. When he began to blow dry my hair he turned the chair sideways so I couldn't see the cut or color in the mirror, generally in the past my stylists have had me face the mirror so I could see the color. When I asked him to turn my chair so I could see the color he obliged me and did that. When I said I wasn't sure about the color because the roots were dark he told me to sit down and be quiet - hmm, not a great response. When after 3.5 hours I left to pay the bill I was shocked to see, I was charged for long hair, my hair is at my shoulders, for highlights, for creative color and one additional color. The bill was broken out to $155 Long - Full highlight, 1 creative color $50, 1 women's cut $60, cleaning and disinfecting $7.95 and 1 Color $36.64 totaling $312.50. It's been 3 weeks and my hair looks like it needs to be highlighted again because the roots are so dark. I can't recommend Salon Heather or Gehlan and 3.5 hours is way too long in my opinion for the services I requested.

Melanie is the most appeasing and soothing person, with a Gentle touch. Redheads are known for their sensitivity and RED Temper, contradictions! Melanie, when she washed my hair, her fingers touched my tender head with thorough "Merciful" fingers, then converged through my long FRIZZ hair. It has been over a decade of years since I could find an "adequate" hair stylist, more a knowledgeable Stylist who is not daunted by curly fizzy hair. Soothing and comforted.....what a great combination. MIRACLES do happen! More, I wanted to keep all that hair long as possible, HUGE CHALLENGE!! Melanie did not flinch instead - confidence exuded; she knows how to create miracles. Asked questions, mapped out her skills with her shampoos, conditioners and scissors. Melanie is soft spoken, likes to laugh, and when I sat in her chair, with my Service Dog whom Melanie was very wise and accommodating, bringing my Service Dog a beautiful soft blanket for her to lie on. What great treatment. Melanie washed and conditioned my hair and trimmed all the RED FRIZ away and still I have longish hair. I can't say enough about my experience. When entering the warm Hether's Salon, I was immediately greeted, sat in a comfy chair, allowed to be quiet, (this is so nice of them cuz of my Sweet beautiful Service Dog draws attention!) Hether's and Melanie are Keepers, they understand and perfect hair, they Listen to their customer needs. Lots of parking on the streets, and lots of stores and possibly some good eats around Arvada after some comfy treatment. I made an appointment for a consult and met the fabulous Rachel. From the moment I chatted with her, I trusted her implicitly. She understood my concerns, my hopes, and -- most importantly -- my hair. She was one of the warmest people I had ever met and our rapport was immediate. Since that time, I have come to know more about this young, brilliant stylist. She is gracious, effervescent, gentle, and interesting. I persuaded my husband -- who hadn't been to a stylist in about six decades -- to come with me and have Rachel cut his hair. He said that he now knew what I'd been raving about for months. Beyond Rachel, the salon is wonderful. They recently moved into new and upscaled quarters. It is contemporary and sleek, yet exudes a warm welcome; it is open and bright, and yet gives a feeling of privacy in each stylist's space; it is softly-scented, evoking a mood of calm and serenity, and yet there is enough bustle and enthusiastic conversation to highlight the camaraderie between stylist and client. Deseo is eco-conscious -- a place where sustainabillity feels indulgent, not austere! Being there is a restorative experience. The front desk staff is outstanding, too. Despite their policy about cancelled appointments, they understood, didn't charge me, and told me to take my time and that I could rebook whenever I wished. The first time my husband accompanied me, he was offered -- as is everyone upon entering -- a beverage. He requested decaf coffee which they did not have. Yesterday, on his second visit, the lovely receptionist told him that she had ordered decaf specifically because he had asked for it on his first visit. For someone to go above and beyond based on the "need" of one customer is a sign of the caring that this salon exhibits. I cannot say enough good things about Deseo. Go here! Relax here! Enjoy here! I watched them berate employees from a nearby business who were attempting to help them. After speaking with a worker afterward, I learned that the employees had been working on their request but apparently it wasn't happening fast enough to satisfy them. What was most upsetting was witnessing one of them direct her anger toward a young autistic child. There is simply no excuse for an adult to speak harshly to a child, especially one with special needs. Whether someone is having a bad day or not, how they treat others matters. The behavior I witnessed showed a complete lack of patience, compassion, and basic human decency. Based on that experience alone, I would never consider supporting this business. Anyone thinking about becoming a customer should ask themselves whether they want to support people who treat workers and vulnerable children this way. What I witnessed today left a lasting impression, and unfortunately, it was not a positive one.
