I never even knew it was there and I don't know anyone buried here. It is in rough shape with broken and missing headstones...some are so old you can't even read them. There are many of these small family plots scattered in the area and this falls into the category of nearly forgotten. But what is impressive to me is that is still maintained by Green Township even though there hasn't been a burial in many many decades. And...there are flags on all of the veteran headstones, most veterans of the Civil War. Very classy on the part of Green Township. This is certainly not something to go out of your way for and see. But hopefully there is still enough respect in the world 140 years from now where others will tend our burial plots. Shout out to Mary Lou D. for her review.

This is a sweet little Cemetery with quite a story behind it. It is one of the many Pioneer…read morecemeteries in Indiana and happens to have my great-great-great-grandfather in it, Columbus Davis. I found it when doing genealogy back in 2008 and 2009. According to what I found out at the Madison County Historical Society and research I had done at the Anderson Library and the Pendleton Library, this Cemetery dates back to the 1830s I believe, which is about the time that my ancestors came to this area. I would love to know the story of how my ancestor ended up being buried in the cemetery since he is not from the family that started it, but I guess it was not unusual for a family that had a cemetery on their farm to allow friends to be buried in it along with family members and in-laws Etc. The cemetery was owned by the Cottrell family until the 1870s, then by the Doty family and others through the years and was well cared for until the 1990s when the idiot who then owned the land decided to use the cemetery for a parking lot and storage area for construction equipment, some of which turned out to be stolen. The owner then used his heavy equipment to plow up the Earth, headstones, and remains buried there to make a driveway, almost completely desecrating and destroying the grounds. Weather and subsequent erosion started causing bones to tumble into a neighbor's yard, at which time they reported it to the authorities. A group of descendants of the original pioneers raised about $75,000 to try and restore this Cemetery. I'm so glad they did or I never would have found my ancestors grave here. Some of the headstones were destroyed completely, others were salvageable and were able to be reconstructed and reinstalled. Bones that were unidentifiable were buried in a common grave with a stone above it listing the names of those that had been originally buried there. I have no idea if the perpetrator was appropriately prosecuted and punished but I certainly hope so. This cemetery is small, the size of a small front yard, and can be difficult to find if you don't know where to look. One reason I created a Yelp listing for it is to help myself and others find it in the future. On the website for the Pioneer cemeteries it is listed as being on Old Reformatory Road but when I drove that road until I thought it had ended I couldn't find the cemetery this trip. When I researched it I found it to be on County Road 1000, not far from the Gravel Lawn Cemetery where, ironically, I just discovered recently Colombus Davis's wife is buried in an unmarked grave not far from her daughter who is my great grandmother. The Cottrell Pioneer Cemetery didn't seem to look as well kept this year as it has the other years I have visited it since 2008. I need to remember to bring a brush with me next time I come so I can brush grass and dirt off of the gravestones where they have collected and make the etching more visible. I'd like to think that my ancestors would be pleased to think that there was at least one descendant who came to visit them when I'm in town and cared about where they were located and who they were.

The cemetery spans 37 acres making it t a medium sized cemetery. It dates back to the early 1950s. They also host annual Memorial Day service, Mother's Day flowers, and a Luminary service. They offer in-ground burial, above-ground entombment, or a permanent memorial. The most famous person whose final resting place is Thomas "Sarge" Johnson, famous US Olympic boxing trainer. There have been recent news reports of family members, who have loved ones here, that are very disappointed at the condition of the cemetery. I thought it was good during my visit though, but I would ultimately defer to the loved ones on this one. The cemetery has a facility that can host wakes, funerals, or memorials that is located near the above ground entombments. Given the small size of Whitestown, this is a decent final resting place. I will admit, it is not Crown Hill, but it is a suitable final resting place and does a great job respectfully honoring those that are resting there.

my mom sent me here to get her dining room table repaired after it was damaged during a move. when…read morei arrived i told the two men what i needed help. they came and retrieved the table out of my car. they set it on a surface and were immediately were working with it to see what a repair looked like. the fix took all of 30 minutes. i waited there while they worked. would recommend and return. the ease of service and them explaining to me what was going on made this experience great.

Upon arrival he assessed the situation, had us disconnect the dolly from the tow vehicle and scooped it up with a forklift. It was inside the shop with sparks flying within 10 minutes, welded up with reinforcements added and ready to go in about an hour at a very reasonable cost. We were expecting to have to leave it there for a day or so, possibly commit it to the scrap dealer down the street. He truly saved our vacation plans for the Indy area. THANKS DAN

Upon arrival to the office Darrin came out didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge my present. He couldn't' t find the paperwork, had such a nonchalant attitude. Ever since my bill has been paid in full, he doesn't have the time of day... he doesn't return calls omg I never would have imagined that I would be getting this type of service. In December I went to visit my husband and couldn't find the gravesite due to piles of mud everywhere.... I fell in the mud destroyed my clothes and shoes and NOONE and I mean NOONE seem to care...it's been such a headache having to deal with him, the lack of disrespect Darrin showed me today was unexpectable.

It's a military veteran owned business and these guys are fast, honest and upfront about everything…read morethey do. We called them due to an emergency; we had water over flow upstairs dripping down through the downstairs ceiling and within a few hours of being called they immediately began to set up equipment and dry out my home before any real damage like molds or rotting drywall could occur. Once it was all dry, they came back and did the proper repairs to the all the damaged drywall's and installed the new flooring upstairs and it looks absolutely amazing!
