Some of the burners on my range stopped working correctly a while back and I had been just using two of the five burners. The GE range is a discontinued model that was probably installed when the house was built around nineteen years ago. So it's old but it suits the look of my kitchen. I didn't like the new ranges on the market so I decided to contact Henlopen Appliance hoping they could service the unit. The person I spoke with confirmed they service GE ranges. I called on a Friday and was able to get an appointment for the following Tuesday. The technician, Trevor Vest showed up on time and once I explained the problems I was having with the range he got right to work. He tested all the burners then made the necessary adjustments to get the burners working properly. The whole experience from making the appointment to interacting with Trevor as he made the fixes was enjoyable. He even gave me advice about using our front-loading washing machine. I prefer to shop locally and read good reviews about this company. reached out to henlopen appliance last year for a quote on a washer and dryer and also asked for a recommendation on which brands they would suggest. We were told by a lady that the Speedqueens work really well, have a 10 year warrantly, and was given some prices. We couldn't beat the prices and the machines we wanted were available for when we needed them! Installation was prompt and we had no issues. We've had to call them to send a repairman out due to washing a dogbed in the washer and the stuffing backing up the system. They sent a guy out and he was able to fix the problem in no time! Will definitely recommend them and continue to use them for all of our appliance needs! read more

We've been looking for a particular convection microwave for a few weeks and stopped into here to see if they had it or could get it. They had a good selection and had the one we wanted on display. We needed it in black stainless. They said they would have it the next day. Fast forward next day they call us and they have it in. Drove an hour to pick it up ,they loaded it for us . We get it home and open the box and the door was damaged. The box looked fine. The packing foam look fine. The door was bent from the factory we are guessing. So the next day we called and they said bring it back but couldn't give us a date when another would be available . We decided to return it and due to supply issues we will continue to look. We understand this has nothing to do with them and they have been professional about it. If anything changes I will update but we are happy so far and will probably go to them to shop for appliances when we upgrade the rest and the supply issues are fixed. read more

We bought a Frigidaire refrigerator form Henlopen Appliance on 6/3/19. We bought because of the $200 rebate. We submitted the papers soon after we took delivery. On 9/3/19 we still had not received the rebate. I looked on online and it said the approval was still pending. There was no phone numbers or email addresses to follow up on the web site. I checked with better business and found a number for the rebate processor. The advised that the claim was approved on 8/2/19. We were advised that in 14-16 weeks from 8/2/19 we will receive an email asking how we wish to receive our rebate. I'm not sure how long it will take after I let them know I I wish to receive our rebate, but I think the length of time between purchase and receipt of our rebate is ridiculous. If you buying an appliance with a rebate deal from Henlopen and expect to receive it in a timely manner, your expectations are way too high. read more

My refrigerator stopped working and I called Henlopen to help me get my frig back up and running and left a message. Within 30 minutes Amy called to schedule appointment. They came and assessed the problem, ordered the part and had it installed within 48 hours. They got me back up and running. Excellent service and very professional. I have been a customer on Henlopen Appliance since moving to Lewes in 2016. I have always found them to be polite and very knowledgeable on the appliances they sell. Unfortunately, given the Covid-19 situation, Henlopen Appliance cannot open its doors for customers to "see" appliances in person. I was one of those customers who elected to go to a big box store to see what I wanted and fell into reasoning that it would just be "easier" to make my purchase there and then. As usual, big box stores are NOT about customer service after the sale. My refrigerators was suppose to be delivered today. The delivery company called and told us the refrigerator would be left at the front door and that the old one, which I paid to have removed, would not be picked up as there personnel are not going into homes. While I understand the concern, no one at the big box store said anything about this! I went into the store and spoke to a "manager" who told me that I would have to deal with the delivery company as the store has "no control over their procedures". Suffice it to say, I immediately cancelled my order and called Henlopen Appliance, not even knowing if they had, or could get the appliance we chose. After explaining the situation to Amy, the owner, I purchased the same refrigerator, for $50.00 less, with no charge for delivery and no charge to remove my old appliance. Further, since they make their own deliveries, she assured me the new refrigerator would be installed, water line and all and the old one would be removed same day. Further, she indicated that they would make every attempt to deliver the same day the appliance arrives at there location! Speaking directly with the owner makes one appreciate the fact that small businesses still exist and despite the competition from biz box stores, they can be competitive and provide far greater customer service. Lesson learned! Thank you Amy and thank you Henlopen Appliance. During these difficult times, we all need to support local businesses or we may be left at the mercy of uncaring big box stores. We bought all of our appliances here when we built our house 1.5 years ago. Our builder recommended Henlopen Appliance because he said they are the only seller that provides service after sale. Range and refrigerator were installed with dents in the front of both. Henlopen Appliance replaced dented areas on both - no problem. We also purchased an Electrolux washer and dryer at the salesperson's recommendations. It is extremely loud and the whole house shakes when the washer goes into spin cycle. When they came to look at it they said the problem is with the floor in the laundry room - not enough support. We later called Electrolux directly and they sent someone to look at it. He said it is not a problem with the floor and that it is just the nature of the product. He agreed it wasn't satisfactory, but just what it is. The door handle to our new refrigerator has fallen off numerous times since installed. We have reattached it with an allen wrench each time and finally got tired of doing so. Called to ask if they could have someone come to look at it. I was told yes, but there would be a service charge because the refrigerator is out of warranty. I conveyed to Harry that the handle has been falling off since we bought this appliance, and asked him how much they charge for the service call. He responded that it depends on the parts they have to replace, and "do you want the service call or not?" Incidentally, we have a GE Monogram refrigerator/freezer at a rental unit and called GE directly for repair this summer when the freezer wasn't working properly. They came within a couple of days and took care of the problem right away. I no longer buy the argument that the service you get from Henlopen Appliance is worth buying from them. read more

I was referred to Henlopen Appliance by friends who stated that their experience has been nothing but stellar. With that in mind, our recent kitchen renovation brought us to Henlopen Appliance for a new suite of appliances to complement our anticipated kitchen renovation. We chose an updated suite from GE and were told an 8 week time line was to be expected, by 12 weeks after ordering and pre-paying, I called to inquire about status of order. The woman who took my called introduced herself as an owner. She was as curt, rude and abrupt as she could be. She was obviously quite irritated at my inquiry and I was told I'd receive a call when appliances were ready for delivery. I understand the COVID situation, back orders, etc. BUT, there is no need for an owner to be rude, ignorant and irritated with a valued customer. Or, perhaps not so valued. I asked a friend about who to call for an emergency. She recommended Henlopen Appliance. We had an emergency because our water line to the ice maker had a leak. We purchased our refrigerator over 10 years ago. We did not purchase it from Henlopen Appliance. They refused their service to correct our situation because we had not purchased our refrigerator from them. I did not know about this company 10 years ago! When I more completely explained our situation and asked for a recommendation about another business I could call, they did not recommend another local business to call. I will not be recommending this business. The next company we called after calling Henlopen Appliance, came within one hour and charged us about $100. Really bad experience with Henlopen Appliance. Bought all new appliances (refrigerator/stove/dishwasher/microwave) for our kitchen and in just over a year, the dishwasher and microwave do not work. This store does not offer an extended warranty after the one year warranty expires so you have to pocket the cost of their repair service which is a bit high compared to the other repair services out there or find another repair service. When I questioned the woman who works behind the counter about the repair cost she was very defensive and rude. I simply expressed my concern of how I did not understand the basic service call of $90 plus the cost/labor of each appliance was increased $45 more on top of the $90 just because you had 2 defective appliances. She said I should talk to her husband which is the owner if I questioned their repair policies. To make a long story short I took her up on her offer and did just that. According to the owner she had not told me the correct information. He explained the repair service very clearly which made more sense. My advice to you is that if you decide to shop here please make sure you understand the repair policies after the one year warranty runs out from someone knowledgeable. On another note, my mom was with me shopping for a new stove as well. We found the exact same stove at a nearby nationally known appliance store that included a 5 year warranty, new gas line, set up of the new stove and removal of the old stove for the same price as this store for just the stove itself that was "on sale". read more

We have traditionally purchased our appliances from the big box stores like Lowes or Home Depot. But we were looking this time for some particular characteristics in our kitchen appliances and decided to visit some local appliance stores. Immediately after we stepped into Henlopen Appliance we were glad we did. The store is owned by Amy and Trevor Vest, who will treat you well. We expected to pay higher prices than the big box stores but were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their prices were. The best thing in dealing with Amy and Trevor is their attentiveness to the customer; they went out of their way to ensure that our kitchen remodeling went flawlessly. Had an excellent experience with Henlopen Appliance. Needed repair on our dryer and they were not only prompt, one day service, but they fixed our dryer at the same quoted estimate for our repair. Courteous and very helpful from the first phone contact, to the technicians that came to our home. Had been dealing with another local business for 15 years, but they changed hands and business model. They would not service appliances they didn't sell. The old company motto was "We sell the best and service the rest" no longer applied. They lost a customer (bought three major appliances from them) to this really good company, Henlopen Appliances.
