I love this place. I drive up and they fix the problem every time. My mechanic, Andy Vonholtum referred me to them when I was having issues with tires. My car was towed there, thought it was the fuel pump, over 1200 or more to fix, looked at it the next day, turned out to be a corroated fuse box and fuses, they cleaned up, saved me 1100 dollars or more, extremely professional and sincere in their work!! I had a huge bolt in my brand new tire and I called around trying to find a place that could patch it for me. Hennen's let me text a picture to them, and we thought I would need to replace it. They helped me find a used tire instead of insisting I buy new and got me in right away. Once they got a better look at it they found they could patch it after all. I was so relieved! Logan did a Fantastic job fixing our flat tire on Saturday morning. It was a "an oh, my gosh what are we going to do?" moment for us. A borrowed van, a heavy committment schedule, and no repair shops open in our town. Your receptionist was courteous, Logan squeezed us in, and did an A+ job. He has impeccable manners, immediately put us at ease with his "can do" attitude, dealt with rusty lug nuts, and sent us on safely our way very quickly. What amazing customer service! I have no idea how that happened to the previous reviewer but my experience has literally been the opposite, Hennens Shell is AMAZING! I've been taking my car into their shop since I was a young and totally oblivious 16 year old girl. I suppose it could be different because in the beginning my Dad went in with me so I can't totally refute the previous review but I've been taking care of my car troubles alone for the last three years (im 23 now) and I haven't had any problems with Hennens. If I ask questions to Dan or any of the mechanics they answer my questions and explain what the different parts of my car do. They're usually busy and in a hurry but if I ask they'll always patiently answer and explain no matter how many questions I have (seriously I've asked six or seven in a row before) I'm having problems on my car right now and Dan told me this morning that he is going to try to make me a custom part so that he can save me money instead of getting the typical $300 one for my car. Seriously who does that?!! Even when I moved to St. Paul I still drove to Shakopee because I knew Hennens is honest and they'll take care of me. read more

I, a woman, brought my car in to get the AC checked out, as it has not been working for some time. I brought it in today, Sept. 8, 2011. I waited 45 min. while they checked it out. Then Dan, the store manager, came out and told me that I was right, it needs a "new motor," something he had previously suggested that might be the cause of the non-working AC. When he previously told me that, he told me that would run me about $350. Today, while I sat in the waiting room, he told me "you were right, it is the motor. That will take us a few hours to fix. Can you bring the car back in an hour and a half and leave it here?" I walked out as the mechanic drove my car to the door. I asked him, "so the only thing wrong is the motor," and he said, "no, there's nothing wrong w/the motor. It is just the switch that goes behind the knob, a super easy job." I asked him if he was the one who worked on my car, he said "no," that another guy down in the shed worked on it. I immediately walked to the shed and asked the guy who looked at my car for the details on what was wrong with it. He told me the same thing as the mechanic who drove the car up to me - that it just needs a $40 part. He was nice enough to open the compartment and show me where the part goes and how it's not working. It took him all of 20 seconds to show me how the part would get switched out. The labor required was the equivalent of putting a light bulb into a lamp. I couldn't believe it! I had heard so many positive things about Hennen's Shell from my neighbors and such - yet, those were all men. Now I get it! These guys are just like the rest of the sleezy mechanics that scam women. Dan, the store manager, totally tried to get me for a $350+ job today, when in reality, the job was worth about $50. Once I learned that he was trying to scam me, I left and decided to take my business elsewhere. I will not give my business to people that are dishonest, lack integrity and no longer trustworthy. WOMEN BEWARE!!! These guys will totally scam you. I experienced it today. Luckily I was smart enough to ask more questions. Obviously the store manager didn't realize I would talk to the mechanics, and clearly, they didn't have time to collaborate on the scheme. I don't fault the mechanics - it's the manager who was in the wrong here - which is horrible, b/c he likely is scamming others, and likely he asks his mechanics to scam people too. Last, but not least, what I found totally coincidental is that they are completely remodeling the shop. Being in the business world, and having my MBA, as I sat in the waiting room, I looked around and thought "I wonder what they'll charge me, with these renovations they are likely bumping up costs to pay off the new bells and whistles." Sure enough - my thoughts were confirmed when they tried to scam me! Will never go there again. They lost a good customer today, and I will share my experience with all my neighbors and friends in Shakopee, and my friends on Facebook. read more
