When I go on vacation, I like to treat myself like it's my birthday! First step - Make A Reservation! This place fills up fast and they will send you reminder text too. I know this is seafood in Nashville but it was literally the best food experience I had while visiting. My friend and I arrived from a long flight from NY and had a couple cocktails at Skull's Raimnbow Room before heading over. Yet, Maci our waitress, sold me on this gin, blueberry, egg white cocktail, called Negative Space. Mind Blowing! It's like this girl could read my mind. I am a sucker for gin and egg white cocktail. I could not have been happier. The restaurant itself felt modern, clean and spacious. I like to not be elbow to elbow when I am splurging on a meal. We started with a dozen oysters. The oyster menu was perfect. It explained the flavor notes for each, of course some of the obscure ones were sold out. Our dinner was pretty late. I would say come as early as you can for the full menu. Also remember to check the boxes for mignonettesauce, horseradish, cocktail sauce and lemon. This was the best way to start the meal. They suggested 4-5 plates to share. We ordered 4 after the oysters and it was a lot. But happy we got to try so many of the dishes. Poppy's Caviar - was a delicious and light dish Octopus salad - So good with the grapes, avocado and crunchy pepitas Crab Dip - A really meaty one of the dishes, rich and comforting. Loved the cast iron skillet it was served in Smoked Trout - a lovely layering of flavors. With the potatoes it became a lot heavier too We ended up taking some of the crab dip and smoked trout home and it made for the perfect morning chilled breakfast. So many times over the past ten years I've been a patron. The service and fare is always innovative and exceptional. Last night I had a chance to take a longtime friend and colleague to dinner. Our server Ash was spectacular - we happened in to several conversations with her and she ended up creating an entire menu for us. From cocktails and wine to oysters, appetizers to mains and - while at it, why not dessert (more anything? More Everything!) - she ordered for us all night and it was exceptional. Came here recently for brunch with my girls and I was not disappointed. I had heard great things about this place, so I was excited that we were able to get a reservation. Ambiance: clean, open areas. Was a little loud inside but not too unbearable. Nice, large windows that have great lighting inside. Food: I ordered the mushroom polenta based on pictures I'd seen on Yelp. It was delicious! I also ordered the biscuits on the side because I wasn't sure if it was going to fill me up, which I'm glad I did. Both I would highly recommend! Overall, great experience. Just ok. Rude hostess. Came here for brunch on a Saturday at 10:30. Had reservations. The place was dead. We'd made a reservation for 2 people 5 days earlier and had been calling every day to change it to 3 people. This place never ever answers the phone. When we arrived, we asked to just pull up an extra chair to our table. Remember, the place was dead and never filled up the whole time we were there. The hostess was very rude and wouldn't allow us to pull up a chair. Whatever. We sat at the bar. The bartender was nice. The food is ok. Nothing was out of this world. Had the monkey bread which was the best thing. Had the mushroom polenta, which has a lot of potential but was under seasoned. The crab cake was fine. Lots of crab. The breakfast sandwich was as expected. So nothing bad but nothing worthy of praise. The drinks were expensive. Also there's only one flavor of hot tea. I have officially visited Henrietta Red three times from out of town, and I can say with confidence that they provide one of the best dining experiences ever (not just in Nashville, but worldwide). The ambience/decor is a perfect combination of thoughtful, delightful, and comfortable. I love the beautiful blues and turquoises. I love that you can see the pass from the dining room, and the wood fire oven. Henrietta Red's staff went above and beyond to seat us a bit early. We arrived an hour before our reservation because we were in the area. The general manager even called all parties with reservations to notify us that the oyster selection would be limited due to high demand. During the pandemic, they have moved the tables to be socially distanced and I felt quite safe because members of the staff were properly masked. Every single dish is beautiful and delicious, with the perfect proportions of acidity, playfulness, and familiarity. I loved the Moroccan influences this time around. Our server was knowledgeable about how to navigate our dietary preferences and restrictions. Some standouts: the olive oil poached scallop salad with Ras el Hanout and crispy rice (the texture! the flavor!) and the grouper - we couldn't get enough of the carolina gold rice! As you know, I'm a dessert fanatic. I love sugar. They currently have an almond+coconut dessert with angel food cake, meringue, and coconut luxardo ice cream. Some of my favorite things. We were only supposed to grab drinks and an appetizer before heading to an event, but ended up staying till we were stuffed - the food and service was phenomenal, so we couldn't leave without trying more! Try: Oysters (duh!) both raw and baked. Crab dip. Must: Bread w Anchovy Butter. Red shrimp w curry/cajun sauce I can't remember the name. Olive Oil Poached Scallops - very delicate and refreshing! Absolutely amazing brunch spot! The oysters were very fresh. The burger was a nice classic. And the Turkish eggs are a must. The Turkish eggs had a little kick, but don't let that scare you. The dish is crafted very well. I would definitely get that again! Not pictured is a mimosa. I highly recommend it. Having a dine-in meal at Henrietta Red is so wonderful and soul-warming, it kind of makes me remember why I love trying and supporting local restaurants. Raw bar & oysters are a love language for me, but you don't have to be obsessed with seafood to really enjoy the dining experience here. Every time I've come in, the staff is almost giddy with excitement that you get to join them for a meal and it really sets the tone. The staff is just as invested in you are at having a pleasant time here. I've been here a few times and have very strong opinions on oyster varietals, but the menu is constantly changing with what's in season. So on my most recent visit, I really appreciated our waiter Ted thoughtfully guiding us through the current favorites and how much to order. The beef tartare - which I never would have selected on my own - was literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. The zucchini tempura was my friend's favorite and the snapper crudo and squash toast are also crowd pleasers. Plates are meant to be shared here and 4 plates, some oysters, and a dessert had us just this side of too full. Some tips before you go: - If you don't like to live on the edge (I don't), make a reservation ahead of time as this place can get busy. - Easy, free parking on the street. - Get a vegetarian dish!! Few restaurants in this city understand how to make layered, flavorful veggie-forward dishes and there are so many gems on this menu you could practically make a whole meal out of them. You are missing out if you come here and *only* order seafood. (Even though their seafood is also stunning.) - The happy hour here (5-6 pm weekdays) is the city's best deal for fancy, high quality oysters on the cheap. I told the waitress that I wish I had four pairs of shoes because I would have thrown them at everyone that works in the kitchen. We started off with a plate of oysters. They descended from Heaven and landed on a plate. The gnocchi was the best gnocchi I have ever had in my life. The scallops were cooked to perfection. What also made the plates special were the sauces and garnishes for each plate. They had me singing My My My like Johnny Gill! They replaced it at no charge for something more my speed which was the Night Manager. It was a group of four. My friends also enjoyed they food and beverages. Henrietta's Red was the most pleasant food experience I've had in Nashville. This ultra clean, super sleek, stark yet beautifully decorated bar / restaurant just did everything right! From their Happy Hour to their Oysters in a Half Shell, the food is as pristine as the decor. The bar makes one of the best gin martini's I've ever sipped. The selection of raw oysters come from every corner of the USA i.e. Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Virginia, Washington ect. These exquisite mollusks smell, look and taste like the ocean. Us two slurpers we're in heaven. An order of liver pate (mousse) and a white fish dip and we were golden! They added some parmigian toast just to kick it up a notch - and it worked. The service was stellar, the people watching was engaging and our whole exposure here was delightful. Went for a random Tuesday night at 6 pm. I was able to get 3 seats at the bar. I got the oysters. Sadly I was too late for happy hour, which ends at 6 pm and includes $2 oysters and I think $5 glass of cava. But that is okay because I love their food enough to eat even when it isn't happy hour. I did get their oysters, I believe Murder Pointe is the name of my favorite one. The octopus was tender but firm. The spaghetti squash toast was simple yet elevated. I love the cream cheese and nuts on it, it gave it a nice creamy crunch. The service was quick and we didn't feel we were waiting on her for anything. The anchovy butter was incredible! A lovely balance of smoky and fatty with only an accent of anchovy. The bread was good, but the kitchen should have pre sliced it. The happy hour old fashioned was decent enough to order two with bourbon, but the Luxardo cherry was a disappointing miss. The tuna crudo was a take on ceviche, and offered a nice textural balance. The eggplant was unique, with a mushroom coating in place of breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, and a light tamari sauce. I could have eaten 3 bowl fulls and will certainly order again. The sea scallops came 4 to one plate and was considered an entree. They were divine and served with a minty fruit salad was such a great idea. I definitely think the mayo based sauce on the plate was not needed and almost detracted from the dish. Finally the peach cobbler was award winning. It wasn't overly sweet, the ginger ice cream was that of my dreams, and the drop biscuits weren't doughy. A complete win. While the food was fancy, the atmosphere was more laid back and dressing up wasn't necessary at all. I would highly recommend this place for the food, the atmosphere and the service. started off with an espresso martini which was more on the coffee side than the sweet side, just the way i like it. after the drink we shared a dozen raw oysters. there are many varieties to choose from and the server was great at providing detailed explanations. she was spot on with her descriptions and i thoroughly enjoyed the oysters. the sauvignon blanc paired wonderfully with the oysters. then we had the snapper crudo. holy $&%# it was amazing. i would say best dish of the night. well balanced mix of salt, acid, fish and a tad of sweetness. really a must have!! the poached scallops were also super good and very flavorful and the tomato toast with eggplant and burrata was also a very well balanced dish. would order these again for sure. had the above with a glass of cava and it paired extremely well. we opted to share a main dish, which was the snapper. it came out with pickled peaches. they were really good but unfortunately the fish was way over salted. i tried it on its own and with the pickled peaches but could not get over the salt. this is the main reason i left off a star. the server was on top of the issue asking if we wanted something else. but being that we were getting full (would have gladly eaten the dish if it was good) she took it off the bill. by the way. my wife wanted a sangria but there was non on the menu. the bartender made her a sangria drink which was ridiculous (in a good way). Hands-down, my absolute favorite restaurant in Nashville and has held the top spot for many years! The ambiance is perfect for a relaxing evening, and the service is top-notch. Always new, inventive options with a seasonal menu. I can hardly recommend a dish, as I have something new almost every visit. What an amazing meal we enjoyed here in October. We sat outside so our experience was decidedly quieter than the amazing dining room and open kitchen. Just one reason to return and enjoy the restaurant in a new way. The patio was perfect for our party of three, eager to break bread and catch up as we all came from different parts of the country for a show at The Ryman. I've never been disappointed but my favorites are the wood fired bread with anchovy butter, tomato toast when it's in season, and the gnocchi. They have a great happy hour from 5-6 with $10 wine and cocktails and I want to say half price raw oysters. Delicious oysters and the staff can really steer you in the right direction based on what you like. Reservations aren't required unless you want a guaranteed spot in the more quiet dining room. The barroom is a bit noisier but always fun so it's a personal preference thing. They have a tiny lot down the street with maybe 10 spots, other than that it is street parking in Germantown. We stumbled upon this amazingly chic eatery after another place was full, and boy are we grateful for this happy mistake. (Much better than other types of accidents, am I right!?) I enjoy Henrietta red. They are helping me expand my palate into seafood. The mackerel is still too fishy for me, but their halibut is excellent and cooked to perfection. I like that their menu changes. It's definitely pricey, but it's a fun experience to go and the food is good. They have descent cocktails as well. Best meal I have had in Nashville. Extravagant quality oyster selection! It's a shareable menu which is bad for someone enjoying it on the solo like men;) I ordered the Scallops which I don't know why I decided to capitalize, but they were so good it shoot be. Browned tops felt over cooked but once you bite into it you see it's not and just filled with awesome flavor. The green curry oysters were a nice roasted flavor with a mild curry taste.
