Stopped by Mercado by Butchertown in WeHo Nashville last Saturday afternoon during their brunch/happy hour, and it was such a great find. They've got some really solid deals from 1-4pm, especially on drinks, oysters, and a few apps. We got there around 3pm and had no trouble finding a seat, the place was about half full even though it was a beautiful day out (not sure if it's going to be that easy to find a seat once the full summer gets here, but they take RSVP's). Started with a round of margaritas (so good) and my husband grabbed a Modelo. We couldn't pass up the $2 Blue Point oysters, so we ordered a dozen, super fresh and really tasty. We'd also heard great things about the guacamole, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Very creamy, flavorful, and perfect to share. We didn't stay for a full meal since we were hopping around to a few spots that day, but this is definitely a place I'd come back to. Great vibes, good deals, and everything we tried hit the spot. My husband and I love Butchertown Hall, so we were excited to hear there was a new sister restaurant. We had reservations for 7pm on a Friday but did not need them. The restaurant was pretty empty, especially for a Friday night. We were seated right away but it took a while for a server to stop by. While we sat, we noticed things like the bar area not being clean. There were maybe 4 people sitting at the bar, but the open seats had all of their dirty dishes and glasses just sitting there. Not welcoming at all. We ordered the Birria Consomme Dumplings as an appetizer, but they came out with our entrees. There were four of us and one entree did not come out with the appetizer and the other three entrees. I ordered the Camarones al Mojo. In the dim lighting, it was hard to see what was on the bread. It actually looked like mold, even though I knew it was not mold. The bread tasted good despite its odd appearance. The menu says the grilled bread is spicy but I did not taste any heat. My husband ordered the tacos. They were teensy tiny street tacos, so if you are hungry, order a bunch. Service was slow. It took a while to get our drinks. The food was okay. I would give it another try because it may have just been an off night. But in the meantime, I am definitely going back to Butchertown Hall in Germantown. read more

A beautiful rooftop bar to enjoy a view of the city without having to park downtown! Their fish tacos are delicious but super messy, and I've never had a drink here I didn't enjoy. Prices are high, even for tacos. I had the sweet potato tacos which were pretty good but basically $7 a piece. They could be a dessert. I had a passion fruit margarita with salt and it was good but I'd get a traditional one if there is a next time. Service was fine. A lot of natural light which was nice. Had drinks and dinner on the rooftop bar this weekend. The views were great. The bar was busy but not overwhelmingly so - most tables were full but seemed to turn pretty quickly. I was a little disappointed they were out of the brisket but ended up having the carnitas instead and was pretty pleased with the portion size. About the only drawback was they seemed a little understaffed upstairs - only one waitress covering the entire rooftop (15 to 20 tables) and she had to work her tail off to keep up. Not sure if this is the standard staffing up there or if they had someone no show but they could use one more server. We'll be back. read more

Located in the heart of WeHo, it definitely has that trendy, vibrant energy. Just a heads-up: parking is super limited, so give yourself extra time and definitely make a reservation if you're coming with a group! The menu is eclectic and keeps things interesting -- from fresh raw oysters and birria tacos to classic burgers and fries. I was initially expecting a more seafood-forward selection, but appreciated the variety that caters to different tastes. A deviation from Butchertown-it gives me upscale bbq vibes married to a marisco taqueria with quesadillas, enchiladas, tostadas, tacos and then brisket board! The standout for me? The seared tuna tostada-- fresh, light, and served on a perfectly crunchy corn tortilla base. They came out quickly and were paired with a few salsas -- the green one was the winner for me! While I didn't love the grouper (it felt a bit too heavy with the brown butter and oily for my taste), I think it could shine with a lighter carb like rice or noodles to balance it out. Tasted like a chicken lemon piccata-lemon notes and capers. The small batch guacamole was fine, just a smaller portion than expected -- it does say "small batch" after all. I was disappointed with the tacos-super heavy like tex-mex vibe. Again, I wish they offered more seafood tacos besides the one they only had. I ordered the Baja Fish-It was deep fried and bit too heavy even paired with the slaw. Service was slow-I kept running out of water and my drinks were always very low. I kept looking for a server or a food runner. Maybe it was on a busy night? Overall, it's a fun, stylish place with a creative menu and great energy. Definitely would want better and tentative service. Wouldn't mind to see more calamari, fish, shrimp, or even ceviche on the menu! read more

This spot is about 20 mins walking from Geodis Stadium. The inside is nice but the rooftop bar is a good spot to have a drink and relax. We didn't have time for food, but the menu looked solid. Overall, great rendezvous spot for Nashville FC games and good views from the rooftop. read more

On a Wednesday evening, service was very slow and clearly undertrained. We waited 10 minutes to be seated because no one was available to seat us. It took over 30 min to get a beer, margarita and guac. They were out of their signature brisket which was very disappointing. Apparently the brisket is allocated to them from Butchertown in German town. Suggest you go there if you want the brisket. We shared the carnitas el pastor which was tasty but the beans and rice were inadequate for two people. Our biggest disappointment was having to sit among dirty tables for the duration of our meal. In an hour and 40!minutes no one bussed the two tables around us. There seemed to be enough employees for the number of guests but what they were doing. Probably won't be back. read more

First time at Mercado, it was really cute. The doors were opened and there's lots of seating outside. It reminded me of a resort in Mexico. We got there for an early dinner, I'm not sure if they were short staffed, but it seemed like there was only one person working. So when more people came in, service was a bit slow. Started off with cocktails, the mango margarita was alright. Queso was good, but I wish it came out warmer. And because the doors were all opened and it was windy out, the queso got cold quick. My friend got a burger and fries. It was ok. I love fish tacos so I had to get it and it was very crispy, which was great! We just didn't like the taste of it, I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or sauce and they only have corn tortillas. I ended up just eating the fish. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be my go to spot for Mexican food. read more

Excellent food and drinks as soon as we figured out the rooftop vibe. Opens at 5pm and it's extremely small so get there early. If you want full service eat downstairs, but if you don't mind casual and bar service only then you're good. Good music and the weather was actually great in the middle of August which is a rarity in Nashville. Post pilates session at Forza next door made this chill down well deserved. read more

This was my favorite spot out of our whole trip!! We got queso and oysters during happy hour - very tasty and reasonable for the deal. We also got carne with their house made corn + flour tortillas.... YUM. We cleared every plate. Service was a little average but the food shined. They have some great chefs. It was a perfect night to eat and grab some drinks outside, and I think Mercado is a great place to do that! We decided to have some drinks and apps on the rooftop. The view is absolutely amazing! You get to see the whole Nashville skyline. We luckily got one of the last tables of four so we were able to sit right away. It was very busy there, so it take the waiter a bit longer to get to us, but that was ok! I ordered an Aperol Spritz which is the perfect summer rooftop drink in my opinion! We also decided to share the broiled oysters and the queso. The broiled oysters were fantastic, especially when you sprinkle the lime on top. I knew I'd love the queso since the queso at their sister restaurant (Butchertown Hall) is to die for! We did want to order the ceviche, but the waiter told us the runner had left, so there was only one runner working the whole restaurant and it would take "a hot minute" before we would get that, so we decided to skip that. I will say the parking situation can be pretty touch around there. It did take us a few minutes to find street parking, but we eventually did! read more

Mercado's is one of my new favorite spots in Nashville. It's tucked away in the Wedgwood and Houston area. The ambiance feels like a modern beach town with all the beautiful interior. My favorite thing about this spot is the upstairs bar. It overlooks the views of Nashville. The service has always been very good here considering how busy they are. Food comes out at a reasonable time as well as the drinks. The food is high quality. I would recommend the guacamole over their salsa and get house margs. The "Grande" Board is a great meal to split between 3 people. This place really is such a great place without dealing with the chaos of other Nashville restaurants. The only complaint is the limited parking (which is not their fault). Check this place out! read more

Mercado is a great addition to the WeHo area. I made a reservation for 7:45 on a Thursday and was surprised to see the restaurant was mostly empty aside from my party of 3 and a few people at the bar. Nonetheless, the service was great and the food was fabulous. Probably the best fish tacos I've ever had and the carne asada tacos and guac were also so fresh and delicious. I will say the margaritas are small but mighty, definitely be prepared for a strong drink. Also, don't forget to take the elevator up to the rooftop bar after for a nightcap and a great view of the city! Overall had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back. read more

It's a cool little spot in wedgewood Houston. Drinks are great with a great selection of mezcal options. The servers are great. Plenty of taco options on the menu. I like the tacos as we all got different ones and enjoyed them all. Would only ask that the website be updated regard the parking options to be clear that they do not offer a discount if you park in the garage. Came here on a Friday at 6pm with reservations. We ordered some tacos and queso which were both great. The queso was easily large enough for 4 people. Tacos were good albeit not mind blowing for the price. The atmosphere and vibe of the spot really started popping off around 7-8pm. I recognize that one doesn't go to a seafood restaurant for vegan food, but plenty of groups have that one vegan friend. If I were that friend, I would steer my group away from this place. The vibe of the place is decent -- good music, not too loud, and a nice atmosphere overall, but nothing particularly standout. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. I specifically requested fish tacos without chipotle sauce. When the dish arrived with the sauce on it, I sent it back before the waitress even saw it. She spoke with the kitchen, brought the same dish back with the chipotle still on it, and insisted it was fixed. When I pointed it out, she took the plate, scraped off the sauce, and returned it -- residue and all -- saying, "See, no chipotle." It felt careless and dismissive. I also ordered the shrimp tostadas, which were underwhelming in flavor and didn't make up for the earlier mishap. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this spot based on the service, the food quality, or the lackluster menu options. There are too many great places out there to settle for subpar service and bland dishes. Not to mention they messed up the salsa all flavors are just watered down. read more

I wanted to give this place a nice review after having a delicious steak dinner there a couple weeks ago but then I made the mistake of getting drinks with a friend at their downstairs bar a couple days ago. The bartender (a long-haired kid named Colin) basically was bullying my friend to leave so his friends who came in could sit at the bar. It wasn't really busy and it was like 7pm. We still had food and drinks left to finish and were talking. I wanted to make a scene about it, but we just paid and left. It was extremely rude and the bartender should be fired. My friend got the sweet potato dorados and was surprised that the sweet potatoes were puréed so she didn't love it (she's a texture person). She said it reminded her of an empanada. She said her cocktail was tasty and the guacamole was on the spicy side. We went up to the rooftop just to see what it looked like and it was cute and simple but we didn't stay. Same with my boyfriend's strawberry marg. We got chips and guac that were both delicious. I loved how fresh the chips tasted. And the guac had bits of cilantro an jalapeño in it. We both got tacos. I had the fish tacos (two) which were crunchy as described and delicious. Two were plenty for me! My boyfriend had the brisket tacos (two) and loved them.
