Classic diner with a cozy feel. Usually go there for breakfast (although not always at breakfast time) and their pancakes, waffles and french toast are delicious. Not health food, but tasty. The staff are always friendly and on the one or two occasions when we've had minor problems they've been quick to sort it out, which has kept us going back for several years now. Can sometimes get a bit crowded at lunch time during busy times of the year - there may be a short wait for a seat especially if there are a lot of tourists in town. read more

My friend and I wanted to dine at Penny Cluse, but it was 35 minutes before they could seat us. "I'm hungry now!" I said, and off walking we went. We decided on Henry's diner, and it was certainly the best decision. I ordered the Vermonter skillet, and I haven't ordered anything else since. Each time I go back it is my go-to with toast. That and a coffee is 12 bucks but worth it. I can't wait to take my new husband there!! read more

I have lived in Burlington many years and gone to this diner many many times but this last time will be the last. I arrived around noon alone and asked to sit in a booth and waitress refused stating its for groups and I pointed out the place was pretty empty! After rolling her eyes she sat me at the booth and asked another waitress to serve me! Really I almost felt I did something wrong! This new waitress was pleasant and even apologized on the others behalf. I ordered my food and asked if the beans could be taken out of my meal and they did. I finished my food and was about to leave a tip when the first waitress rushed over to receive it which made me angry so I walked over to the waitress that actually helped me and put the money into her hand and thanked her. Yes the food is really good and made fast but wow they need to get rid of that one girl with a horrible attitude and for that reason alone I will never go back. read more

I'm so happy Henry's has hung in there for Burlington. It's got to be one of my most favorite "go to" spots in town. Anytime breakfast, which includes some amazing (but super-indulgent) skillet dishes. The coffee isn't super great but satisfies. The lunches are perfect between your standard club sandwich and soups to hot open-faced sandwiches (my personal favorite here). I have yet to try them for dinner but I'm sure it's just as good. The service is fairly consistent and super quick. They turn over tables/booths quite well so even if they take your name at the door you won't be waiting long. They also include, as any good diner should have, a great luncheon bar service for those who don't need a booth and I always manage to find an empty seat there. If you're hungry, don't want fast food and don't want to wait, just do Henry's. They have yet to disappoint me and like I was trying to say, they've been here FOREVER.. read more

On the advice of Yelpers, we visited Henry's today for lunch. After walking up the hill from Echo I had an appetite -- Henry's did not disappoint. The lunch special was hot roast beef sandwich, French fries, veggie, side salad (or soup) --all for $7.99. Everything was very tasty. The plate was filled, the waitress was prompt and pleasant. All diner food is not necessarily good but Henry's had simple food prepared just right. Desserts looked good but I was full. No wait on a weekday lunchtime. read more

I was in Burlington for three days and literally had breakfast here everyday. The coffee is typically diner coffee but he wait staff is amazing and the food is fabulous. I had "the Vermonter" every time and I cannot get over how delicious it was. I am an extremely picky eater but the food was flavorful, cooked right and came out fast. He portions are hefty and I do admit it is more than I would usually pay for breakfast, but f you are in Burlington or visiting you NEED to go to Henry's. I think I literally when into withdraw wanting this breakfast when I returned home. The homemade biscuits are delicious and huge, but the corned beef hash that comes on the Vermonter does not compare to anything I have ever had. It was so fresh and literally amazing. About a week ago (pause for audience to repeat), I had the joy of being dragged here by some friends, after a night of drinking that would normally make an individual contemplate their decisions and where their life is headed. Luckily for me, I do not have those types of friends, the ones who give a shit about your future health; instead I have those kinds of friends who introduce you to new and exciting dinning experiences. First off, this place usually has a wait on the weekend, but no sweat there just walk around Church St. The waitress that served my group was patient, basically understanding of our struggle to express our desired orders (the 8 of us are not very good with words), she was also easy on the eyes, so zero complaints with the service here. Even though the place was packed and had a 30-40 min. wait, the food was out to my entire table within 20-25 min. after placing our orders. Let me side track here for a sentence or two if I may. I am from New Jersey where diners are in abundance, so I consider myself something of a diner cuisine extraordinaire (should be obvious by this long yelp review of a diner). I do not jest when I tell you people that the food was FUCKING LIT!!!!! I can say with almost zero certainty that this is the best diner food in the state. I had the peaches and cream French toast, the sausage gravy and biscuit, and the grits. Let me describe the taste of this for you. Image the taste of peaches, now image them slightly less flavorful, but they still have kept a lot of sweetness, image the taste of cream, this cream is not thick and mixes well with the other ingredients of this dish, now image French toast like my grandmother made it, yeah I know, but wait this is better, put that shit all together and add some whipped butter and good Vermont syrup and you got yourself the peaches and cream French toast that they are serving at Henry's Diner. The sausage gravy and biscuit was good for a northern state, I did not particularly appreciate the consistency of the gravy, it was a little too creamy and not thick enough, but the sausage in it saved the day, the biscuit was not bad, and overall it was a solid dish. I did not care for the grits, they have an option to get them with cheese but I declined, I should have stuck with the home fries. So, to sum things up Henry's Diner has good food, comparable to above average diners in New Jersey. read more

Just had breakfast at Henry's this morning. Great food, great service, great deal! I had the Little Henry, and couldn't finish it all. Two eggs, bacon, home fries, one pancake (real maple syrup), and huge biscuit. I have been checking out local diners for the last month or two, and Henry's is absolutely the best so far. I'd say I like the atmosphere better at Penny Cluse, but the food at Henry's is at least as good and definitely a better deal. The place is definitely a dive. The service was fast and polite. Coffee wasn't that great to me, it tasted bitter. I got a special, which was ok. The homemade hash brown casserole was too mushy for my liking and I feel like it's overpriced. $4 for 2 sausage links? I had a coffee a scrambled egg special that came with the hashbrown casserole and toast with the side of sausage since the meal had no meat and it was $17 for just me. Annual trek to Burlington and has always included breakfast here. The best corner beef around...until now. Today we were truly disappointed. Corned beef was very mushy and they didn't cook it long enough to get that golden crust. In fact it seemed it wasn't even homemade but out of a can. Irish Benedict eggs were over cooked, English muffin wasn't toasted so very soggy with the grainy hollandaise sauce. Friend's biscuits had rock hard centers as if these were either not defrosted or stale. Sad because this was a must for the last 6 years. read more

This place was pretty good, but honestly nothing special as far as diners go. We went for lunch and my husband got the Vermonter skillet which was presented really well with the fried eggs on top. He said it was tasty, but nothing spectacular. I ordered the clam roll with fries. Mine didn't come with the fries I ordered, but the waitress did notice the error and offered to correct it - so good eye on that. I told her not to bother, cause stuff like that usually isn't a big deal to me. The sandwich was alright. The clams were of a good size, but the sandwich was overall just very difficult to eat and I think they could have come up with a better concept with more substantial bread. Had it been a softer fish, it would have been fine - but given the texture of clams, it wasn't a good fit. So, like I said - nothing overtly bad, but nothing that really stuck out to make this place really special either. read more
