It's been a few years since we last came and today we finally got the chance to visit Galveston and thought about checking them out again. First of, for a Saturday evening, we were kind of expecting that it will be crowded like it used to. But no, there was one other customer and she had hers to-go.. I thought well maybe this is just a slow night so we went ahead and ask for the menu. A young girl was at the front and she asked if we're new to Henry's and I said no . I asked if there's new ownership and she said no they are the grandkids and the grandma used to run the business. My husband went for the usual tostadas. I noticed they had a new item on the menu that I used to not see before which was the Menudo. And I went ahead and ordered that. The boys ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich and a chicken quesadilla. The tostadas are NOTHING like the pictures I posted originally. Tostadas were smaller, the beef tasted super salty. The rice that came with it barely has any flavor. The refried beans tasted like it just came from a can. The signature white sauce was also nowhere to be found. Husband asked for it and they said they don't have it. As for the menudo, while the meats were just right (not too hard or too tender), the broth is so bland. My hungry boys ate what they had but wasn't too impressed either. With grandma out of the picture, it's evident the quality of the food has also gone out the window. Overall, a HUGE disappointment. It's so bad I don't think we're ever coming back again.

Migas and a side of carne guisada.

Huge burritos, great service, delicious food. The surprise burrito is definitely filling. Today I had their migas (~$7) and a side of carne guisada (~$7). The migas were very good but I didn't see an option to add onion, tomatoes, and peppers. So they came plain, I added cheese. I was not disappointed but expected the veggies. No biggie. The carne guisada was a little different than TexMex carne guisada. This was more like a beef stew with carrots and I think yucca (it didn't seem like potato). The meat was extremely tender. It's a great local place and the service is excellent . Can't wait to try more from this place.

    NO STANDARDS

This is pretty fucked up how the quesadillas were just placed in this small ass container for it to just get saggy and sloppy.

It's an older establishment - nothing to look at for ambience inside or out. The locals to the area had the place 80% full at lunch hour. Prices were very low .. in the $5 to $10 range. Counter service was excellent. Menu variety was huge - Mexican, American, El Salvadoran. Tostada was large and good. Chorizo with eggs was good. For what it is ... it's successful. Good for them!

Don't miss out on an amazing local dining experience by passing by Henry's! It may not look like much, as a big orange/yellow drive thru building off Broadway, but holy moly the food is insane! I've never had a bad meal, or bad customer service and I've been dining here for over a decade. My husband has sworn that the burger here is the best he's ever had and has eaten them since he was in college at TAMUG. Todays review is about the burger, el savadorian enchiladas, and the heavenly papusa. Seriously the pork papusa is magical. Hands down the star of the show!!! The street tacos and enchiladas are always good too! All of the employees are so friendly and welcoming with big smiles and southern hospitality.

Pupusa with pork chicken quesadillas and chips with guacamole

We just tried this place and it was super delicious, had amazing service and everything was very fresh. Prices for the authentic mom and pop experience are incredible and I will be going back to try the burritos! We got the pupusa with pork and the chicken quesadillas. We also got a side of chips and guac and they gave us chips so hot and fresh that they burned my finger on the drive home!!! Incredible!!! Also the guac serving was huge!! Definitely go here!!!

The surprise burrito is by far the best deal on the island for a breakfast burrito. Always fresh and always quick.

I love Henry's. It's solid, the drive thru is open late and the pupusas are awesome. This is a locals spot. Make no mistake about it.

This one of the few restaurants that is open past 9pm during the weeknight. We original went to another restaurant but it was a poop show so we left. The service was not bad and not great either; just average. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had a ton of meat. It was really quite good. (Minus the tomatoes and guacamole (it had tomatoes) I ordered sliced avocado and when it was brought out it was rotten. The waitress was nice and took it off our bill. My family said the salsas was good and so was the queso dip. Everyone seemed enjoyed their dinner. We would come here again.

Chips and salsa hit the spot, and the food is good, just not particularly distinctive. The menu is huge, with the kind of "big operation" feel where dishes are clearly designed to move quickly rather than showcase anything unique. Parking is the same story it's always been: not nearly enough of it. Most people end up in the Academy lot next door, and it's been the unofficial overflow for as long as anyone can remember. Hopefully Academy keeps looking the other way. A perfectly acceptable Seawall stop, but nothing that pushes it past a solid three stars.

Why 5 stars? Because this might be my new favorite restaurant in Galveston…read more --- --- --- We had been in Galveston for a couple of days, and while we had some solid meals, we were feeling kind of gross and overstuffed. Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

The Vietnamese taco stood out the most for me, while the Baja and Korean flavors were just okay, not really my favorites. Overall, it's a chill spot with a relaxed vibe and not too crowded. I'd recommend coming during happy hour to get the best experience.
