    Chips & guacamole

Located in a strip center between a convenience store and a coffee shop, at the west end of Seawall Blvd. It's just across from where we're staying, so we went there for lunch. Had the shrimp baskets. I believe they hand-batter the shrimp--they were very good! Our server was super-friendly, and the place is clean. For dinner, we decided to go pick up something. We both had a patty melt, and they were fantastic! Double Swiss on it, a large patty, and grilled onions. We got chips and guacamole too, and it was fresh and delicious! They had the to-go order ready quickly.

November 21, 2025 Door Dash order. I live across the street so not a long wait for food One item that was unedible was the ground beef quesadillas. They were way too greasy. Like i didn't realize they'd be fried...usually there baked or pressed. And maybe they weren't fried but the grease from the ground beef wasn't drained before making it. See photos. 3 stars today for that

This is a small hole in the wall off the main strip. It was amazingly good! I have shrimp tacos and they hit the spot! My son got an XL pizza for $14 and it was huge! He's a growing boy and was hungry! He ate half the pizza and a taco. Everything we got was delicious and fresh made. The service was good too. When we walked in it was empty, but apparently the people followed us in because it quickly filled up! This is definitely worth coming too!

Great spot for breakfast, I would definitely recommend going during ANY time of the day.

Nice little dining area with excellent servers. It's also BYOB! The food is very good and the prices are very affordable. We had the Fried shrimp basket as our entree and it was enough food to split. The shrimp basket comes with fries, slaw, and hush puppies. Our appetizer was the fried mushrooms and the flavor is fantastic. I would definitely go back when I was in town.

Cute place. Far down West End side..Very far. The menu had a good variety of selections, but prices were a pricy for proportions. Potato Soup was good and the dessert was really tasty. Hubs had Quesadillos and he said they good. Not outstanding. Service was so friendly and customers too, the few there.

Good burger and fish tacos, great friendly service. Large menu. Close to the beach. Small but cute.

The food is extra ordinary and the staff was excellent. The location is prime for any one looking to have a wonderful time on the boardwalk.

The highlights were absolutely the fried catfish, fish tacos, gumbo, and grilled shrimp. They also had solid fried shrimp and decent tacos.

As with most eateries located in a tourist location, it's overpriced. We expected that, but we still went because of our diets. We're allium-free vegetarians (alliums includes onions and garlic) and the youngest member has a number of food allergies. Our best bet would be a restaurant. We ate here 2 times during our 2 days there. After asking the waitress and a few trips to the kitchen, we figured we could only have the: AVOCADO SALAD - Your typical salad topped with avocado (4-5 slices) with half of a sliced hard boiled egg. This is typically served with your choice of a meat salad (chicken and something else meaty) and dressing, both of which we opted out of. They do not have a vegetarian protein option other than eggs... of which they didn't give us more of but did not reduce the cost. They also do not have olive oil! We only ordered this once. This was $15. WRAP - a salad with dried cranberries wrapped in a large wheat flour tortilla with a side of fries or potato chips and a pickle spear on top of an ornamental leaf of lettuce. It comes with a slice of American cheese inside - the ones packaged individually in plastic, that probably can't even be counted as real cheese. This is also typically served with grilled meat of your choice, which we opted out of. As with the salad, there is no vegetarian protein option. This doesn't come with an egg, either. I think the cranberries and pickle saved this for me. I love it with fries (which we got the first time). The second time, though I did confirm on fries, they gave us chips. Which... I guess? An easier choice when it was busy. But still not what we ordered. This was $15. KIDS MACARONI AND CHEESE - standard Mac and cheese for kids with sauce that is in the runny side. My daughter ordered this both of our visits and she finished the entire plate EVERY TIME, which was amazing to us. She normally only picks at things. Out of everything we ordered, I ind shelling out $6 for this. SAUTÉED VEGETABLES - the only thing our youngest could have. It included zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, and mushrooms lightly seasoned with salt, pepper, thyme and oregano. I actually enjoyed this. It was simple and good and I don't mind the $6 to get it. ...Which was what we ordered. The staff here are there to do their job and are generally nice. They'll answer questions - to a point (at one moment, she seemed reluctant to go back to ask more) - but don't necessarily go above and beyond. The first visit, they were waiting for us to finish (we had a late lunch that was close to 4 pm). Better service during slow hours because at least they weren't rushed. Our second visit was during peak lunch time and our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed and forgot that we needed a spoon despite passing us 3 times. We ended up getting one ourselves from the buffet. I'm amazed there are still restaurants - especially one at a tourist attraction - that still doesn't offer decent vegetarian options/substitutions. Also, I'm sorry, but you can't even merit an "okay" (3 stars) if you serve salads but don't even have olive oil. That is why I can only give them 2 stars. They do seem to be busy, but if you're at Moody Gardens, it's not like you have much of a choice. Their buffet seems like your typical American buffet... not worth it to us for $25. We can probably only eat 30% of it at the most. At least we can have a few healthier meals because of our limited options here, haha. No wonder there's a stereotype of vegetarians eating only rabbit food! (I would believe it if I didn't know better and watched us eat what we ate.)

That was a big aggravation to us when we saw the charge on the hotel receipt that was emailed right before boarding the cruise ship. It took my husband awhile to get it corrected over the phone. That shouldn't have happened. We were also told by our server that the Hilton Breakfast Buffet is included. If I'm reading the description of it from the menu correctly, then it appears that we could have asked for made to order eggs and omelets. None were offered. We never really got a straight answer about the other items on the menu. Other than that, the ambiance & service was good. The food on the buffet was pretty basic, but everything looked clean. I think I had biscuits & gravy on the first day, but apparently it wasn't memorable enough. The Christmas themed pancake was cute. The scrambled egg omelet was good. They serve Starbucks coffee. The coffee was very good. There is an option to pay for a specialty cappuccino or latte at the coffee bar area in the hotel. Overall, it was a decent enough breakfast when included in the rate. Just make sure that you don't get overcharged.

Should have saved time and money and went to chik-fil-a down the road. After being seated, they literally forgot we existed. After half an hour, I had to flag the hostess down to let her know that no one had come by our table yet. I ordered the special and (after a painfully long wait) I did not receive everything that was supposed to come with it. Again, as I was in a hurry, I didn't ask for it. The redeeming grace was that the server was sweet and the ribs were decent. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place if you're staying at the Hilton.
