When trying a new restaurant, I rely heavily on customer reviews to help make my decision. So, on Saturday, August 1, after a long day of shopping, my family and I decided to give Doc Holliday's a try for an early dinner. We knew it would be busy since it was one of the last weekends of summer before school started, so we expected a crowd. Despite the restaurant being packed, our service was friendly and surprisingly quick, which I definitely appreciated. I had visited Doc Holliday's before and really enjoyed my meal, so I was looking forward to going back. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience when it came to the food. I recommended the baby back ribs to my niece because I remembered how much my boyfriend raved about them on a previous visit. Unfortunately, the ribs she received were extremely tough. She couldn't cut them, much less eat them. I had also loved the roasted Brussels sprouts during my previous visit, so I ordered them again. This time, they were very disappointing. They didn't appear to be roasted at all and seemed more like they had been boiled, with very little to no seasoning, and then covered in balsamic glaze. The rest of my family had similar complaints about their meals. Overall, the food seemed to be lacking the seasoning and flavor we expected. What made it especially disappointing was that this was not at all my experience during my first visit. I understand that restaurants can have an off night, especially when they are extremely busy, so I'm not someone who normally rushes to leave a negative review. However, when several people in our party have similar complaints, I feel it's worth sharing. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that my family has officially banned me from choosing a new restaurant for a while. Doc Hollidays was an interesting place! A coworker and I stopped in for a quick lunch during a work conference and the place was very cowboy-ed our decor-wise! We giggled our way through hearing a customer behind us order a large appetizer fit for 15+ people for himself and be astounded at the size when it arrived! We just ordered salads to keep our time in there quick as we had to get to our next meeting. We returned the following night for a sponsored dinner and ordered steaks and Cajun shrimp Alfredo. I really enjoyed my pasta and had no qualms with it - the people in pro group who ordered the steak said it was okay but a few people had issues with how it was cooked to their liking. All in all, we had attentive waiters and good experience at different times of the day here. It was a little expensive for trying to stay within a company budget, but we did our best with what was available. I would return if I'm ever in the area again! read more

We came here twice because my husbands favorite movie is tombstone and favorite character is doc... the ambiance is awesome - loved all the aesthetics and decor. The food was pretty good!! Burger was decent, the dip was good (a little heavy on the onion side but tasty) the side salad was actually super refreshing and tasty, I was surprised. The egg rolls were good. The quesadillas were yummy. They have a full bar and seating at the bar. They have a back area that looks like it can be rented out for parties. Good parking lot right off the Seawall with the beach view. Outdoor area has a couple tables covered under the patio and then a lot of seating uncovered. Friendly staff and service! We visited Galveston for our 24 yr anniversary and Doc Holliday Restaurant did not disappoint. The decor is amazing. Every wall and ceiling is decorated! Great Texas theme. Gives the restaurant a great western ambience. It was busy but we were able to get 2 seats at the bar! McClain, our bartender, greeted us immediately and gave us menus. I had a perfect margarita and my husband had his favorite rum, Flora de Cana 18 yr with splash of coke. We were going to order the pork chop but they ran out. McClain said it was the best on the island. So we ordered Caesar salad - so good and the chicken fried steak - amazing with loaded baked potato and grilled mushrooms & onions on the side with yummy gravy. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. It was so good, we went back the next night and ordered the pork chop and mashed potatoes! They were so delicious. This restaurant is a must when visiting Galveston! McClain took great care of us both nights. Excellent service. There is a private parking lot with plenty of parking. The bathroom is very clean. The Great- That place is decorated to the TEETH! There is not a blank space on the walls nor even the ceiling. The atmosphere there is ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC! They have Tombstone (top 25 movie of all time in my book (leave me alone)) playing on repeat on various TVs in the restaurant. That's pretty legendary! I'd go as far to say that it made my entire week (and I have had a great week thank you very much). The Good- Service was great and attentive! Daphne at the bar was super sweet and proactive in refilling drinks and getting food out on time! Also, the portions are ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE! I've never seen anything like it in my life at a restaurant. The amount food per dollar is definitely worth it. THE MID- I've seen a lot of reviews on how the food is fantastic. This is simply not true. Whatever those people were on writing those reviews... I want some of that! Seriously though, the food tasted like frozen food (I CANT PROVE THAT), and if it's not, then at best, it is seriously bland. When calling a friend later that night, I recall touting the restaurant as "The Target Version of Applebees". It's definitely better than an Applebees or Chilis... but not by much. In short... if I was rating on food alone... 2.5-3 stars. But the atmosphere and the omnipresent Tombstone on the TV cranks this place up to a 4. I won't be back, but it was 1000% worth it to go once. read more

Doc Holliday's saved the day! We had a large party (12) last week and our dinner plans fell through at another place. They took us in and we were seated almost right away! The western ambience is just fabulous! The little ones went crazy over the animals. (Great photo ops). The food was so delicious and the service was wonderful. We already plan to go back with some other family members. The club sandwich was a huge hit, steak salad, taco salad just to name a few. My nephew (who is an amazing cook) says the best pork chop you will ever eat is here. And 2 summers in a row! Ha! This is a must try place. read more

OK to start off let me just say the reason why we came to this restaurant was simply the name huge tombstone, Doc Holliday fans. We was extremely surprised that the restaurant was just as awesome on the inside as it was outside and then to have the food match that same level was crazy. you normally don't get a restaurant that is themed like this that really meets all the boxes. From the start we were greeted by a couple of workers that were extremely friendly made us feel welcome. Got us to a table within seconds. We were there at 4 o'clock cause we wanted to get there for happy hour. Our waiter was extremely helpful. Very funny gave us recommendations and let's just say he knew his stuff. The food was amazing. Not one of us had to complain about our food. My daughter is a very picky eater and when we made a modifications on her food, there was no issues. It came out exactly how she wanted it and she loved it!!! we all left extremely full and brought two to go containers back to the hotel During happy hour there were specific things on the menu that was only $12 which is what we came for not realizing that it literally was so much food! Was in Galveston for a girls weekend and we randomly picked Doc Holliday's--so glad we did! The western/cowboy theme is super fun, from the decor to the names on the menu. Loved the vibe right away. I ordered the Cowboy Mojito and it was adorable--and delicious! It had a fun twist with ginger beer that made it really refreshing. For food, I got the crispy coconut shrimp, bacon mac and cheese, and corn casserole. The shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly. That chili dipping sauce? So good. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, and the corn casserole was the star--especially with that sweet, buttery topping (reminded me of Texas Roadhouse's butter!). Our server, David, was awesome--super friendly and gave great recs (like the mojito and corn casserole). He checked in just the right amount without hovering. I have been here 3 times but I have never had service or food that made me want to write a review. During our Saturday evening visit (2/15/25) Hunter was our server & he was fantastic! Our Mac n cheese nachos were huge! Big enough for 4 to share & we had half the plate left over. Our steak was phenomenal. It's almost a miracle for a cook/chef to make our steak right & this one was made to perfection! We never needed a refill bc Hunter kept our glasses full. The Old Fashioned was so good when I tried my friends that I had to order one for myself! The decor is well thought out! There's so much to see here. I love the movie Tombstone & there are quite a few cool things to take photos of. We couldn't even get in the door before taking a photo. I highly recommend this restaurant! I really loved this place and always try to come when in town. HOWEVER, the last time we went-- we entered in great spirits and wanted to sit at the bar. The patrons looked at us in a strange way-- maybe they were MAGA, not sure. They certainly did not have the traditional warmth of texans. We waited patiently, she came back and just said ' sorrrrry one moment"-- this was a slowwww lunchtime Friday. No waters, no menus, nothing. After about 12 minutes, I decided we best get a table. When walking away the bartender had the audacity to yell "IT HAS ONLY BEEN 3 MINUTES!!" I assure, it was not 3 minutes. Myself, my brother, and best friend have all worked service jobs in our 20s-- I get it, but this was blatant, rude, disrespectful, and quite frankly... weird. Was a cloudy day in Galveston so decided to splurge on lunch We got the hillbilly loaded tator tots with steak, which were so good - good amount of queso, the toppings had great flavor, and the steak was tender. Then, we shared the mac 'n cheese burger with French fries, and an extra side of broccoli. The burger was fantastic, and my goodness the bacon mac 'n cheese on the burger was so good that we wished we had ordered an additional side of it! Also, our server, Jared, was awesome - provided service that was perfect for the occasion, gave good recommendations, and was super nice. The inside was cool, too. There were tables near us that weren't from the Houston-Galveston area who were awestruck by the cowboy-ness of the place haha.
