No matter the location, Hubcap Grill just never seems to disappoint. In fact, these guys make one of the best burgers in greater Houston. The atmosphere here is typical of the Strand. Tall ceilings, dark woods and an eclectic mix of chandeliers and wall tchotchkes, hubcaps and automobile grills notwithstanding. It's fun. Service here is friendly and efficient, just like the other locations. The burgers are made to order and seem to be constructed with top quality ingredients. Though the Tamale Burger is one of my all-time faves, the Carnivore also brings me great culinary joy, as it combines a delicious burger and a beefy hot dog. Pure Americana. This is one of my favorite restaurants located on The Strand. Their Greek fries alone will keep me coming back time and time again. This establishment is open seating and then you'll order at the bar. Everyone is super friendly and the food came out pretty quick. My food though was phenomenal! Seriously order the Greek Fries! The food was awful I got the tender basket and they were the worst. My tenders looked like they were left out over night and then fried up because the edges were over cooked and the middle was slightly cooked and the fries were stuck together. Hubby and I were in Galveston and stopped here for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all which kept it nice and quiet. I had the grilled mushroom and Swiss chicken sandwich. The flavors were great, I just wish the chicken breast was a little bigger. Hubby had the craw dog. He really enjoyed that. We ordered a side of Greek fries to share, and for the price there could've been more fries. Think of the times you've ever ordered a hamburger and fries and your plate had more fries than you can eat (sometimes ). So having to pay extra for them I felt there should have been a little more. This was our second time at Hubcap Grill. The first time was amazing so decided to come back. The restaurant was very busy with a large group. I decided on the mushroom Swiss burger. Hubs had tamale burger with avocado. I've only ever been to Hubcap one other time and it was in downtown Houston. The two did not seem the same like the same place to me. I ordered a Hatch Chili burger. My favorite thing about it was actually the bun. Good tasty bun. But unfortunately it was too large for the burger patty. The burger patty could have been bigger (thicker and larger diameter), but the flavor of the entire burger was there (but a little dry). So I give credit for that. I was craving a big juicy burger, and didn't get that. But the hatch probably tied it all together. I did have them modify it by adding the standard burger toppings. I also ordered regular fries and some onion rings to share. The fries were not hot, so that kind of killed it for me. But they are similar to Five Guys fries, with the skin on. Big fan of the skin so that was a plus. For onion rings I usually only like to eat 2 or 3 as a full order for myself is usually too much. These were so good I think I had at least 4. Big thick cut rings. Fried perfectly. And they were hot. My dad ordered the TX BBQ Burger and he said it was great. Really tasty! Service it order at the bar, they give you a number to put on your table, and they deliver. So no issues there. The ambiance is cool. Dark woods. There were a few TVs. And plenty of seating. This place was kinda disappointing, the staff was pretty dry and rude. We came on a Sunday morning during a Mardi Gras parade and it was empty and the man taking our order was pretty grumpy. I subbed the cheese in my burger and they got it wrong, didn't give me any fries but sure as hell charged me for them so I had to get up and ask for them. The Hubcap grill came highly recommended by two old friends who happen to live in the area.  Neither of my two dining companions were huge fans of burgers, but seeing what the specialty here is, we all ordered some kind of burger.  We were all blown away by the taste and overall quality of our meal! Tip: Portion sizes here are decidedly large.  I considered getting a double, but when our meal came I was very glad that I didn't. A friend roared about this place and said we should go, so we went. Right from upon my entrance I was awwwwwwed by the ambience encased by four walls. Everywhere I turned to look, I was encased with the object I was looking at. Just freaking awesome decor, pure genius. My favorite is the church benches! WOW, it took me back to memorable experiences, going to church with my Dearest Grandmother in Ferriday. They form a wall/per say and seating. Just perfect... Grab a menu from a small table up front and seat yourself. Orders are placed at the bar and the food is delivered to your table. For pick up orders, there's a sign hanging that reads order pick with an arrow facing down. To the right of that sign is the most comfortable serene space to wait for your food. Another very-well intricate piece of the mastermind behind the interior design. The opulence of hubcaps and car grills. I am talking classics here. The WOW factor here. There is beautiful artwork for sell. Be prepared to pay an high end amount, that's how lovely it is. They serve locally brewed soda and beer. My son ordered a root beer soda. It taste so good. I ordered the Hurricane. It was served with a slice of orange and lime, a cherry, and a cute lil umbrella, served in a huge glass. The taste was on point... The Food YumYum \( /\ /\)/ I ordered the Philly cheesesteak burger. Baby, I was not disappointed at all. It was huge and dripping with goodness(cheese and meat on top). I took one bite and had a calgon moment. It was D' Lish! The patty was perfectly cooked, perfect. I enjoyed every bite. I was full after three bites. D that was a good A burger. Spending the weekend in Galveston and stumbled upon this little burger joint. The vibe and decor is on point here but the Customer service is definitely lacking. I always buy their Hubcap decker which is made up of two buger patties but since I like a huge burger I ask for a third patty to be added. This makes the burger huge. We came here on a Monday evening. Not much going on on the Strand so we were happy it was not crowded. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly for me... Pink in the center... And the flavor of the meat with all the toppings just blended so well making it delicious. My husband went out on a limb and got the peanut butter bacon burger. He loves peanut butter and bacon sandwiches so thought he might enjoy this. He said it was good, but the peanut butter just overwhelmed the beef and he couldn't taste the flavor of the meat . We shared an order of regular fries, and they were very good... Cooked perfectly. Probably won't opt for that peanut butter burger next time. The key words are next time though, because we will be back for something different. I do have to add though that the service here was lacking. There was one man working, taking orders at the bar and delivering the food to the table. I understand the reasoning behind that I guess but no one ever asked if our food was good. There was also a strange smell, as if they had just been cleaning the restaurant, but they were cleaning it with a dirty rag, kind of a mildewy smell. Not so sure about that, and hence the four stars. They did have live music while we were there. A gentlemen was playing guitar and singing. That was enjoyable. Waited over an hour on our food that they "lost" ... wasn't busy at all. We tried to be patient and kind. They brought the food out, it was MID at best. We still paid OVER $100. Which is crazy to me. I've been in the service industry my whole life. I do NOT recommend the service here at all. If you make a mistake.. do something about it. A free soda, comp ONE of our burgers. But I am not over exaggerating when we say they LOST our food, for AN HOUR.. (with maybe 2 other tables in the restaurant) and still paid over $100 for our meal. Very disappointed. We love to support local businesses AND we love Galveston & the strand. Very disappointed! read more

We ordered a jalapeño cheeseburger, sweet potato fries and some jalapeño poppers, to split. When the food came out, the hamburger patty was burnt! I asked for them to redo it. When they brought the second burger, it was cooked better but all except 2 of my jalapeños remained on the burger. In addition, the guacamole, that I paid extra for, was a small smear on the bun. I've been wanting to stop into Hubcap Grill for a while and today seemed to be the day. I'm glad we gave it a try, but it was overall underwhelming. It's a little different when you come in as you're supposed to seat yourself, but this isn't stated anywhere, and there is a chalkboard that says, "take a menu and go to the sign." This turned out to be a sign next to the bar, which is where you order, a la English pubs, but this wasn't obvious either. Overall the process of getting a table and placing your order is a but confusing. Onion rings were tasty and crispy. They could be thinner, however, but that's my personal taste. My chicken sandwich was disappointing - very thin cut of chicken and a large floppy bun that was a little unwieldy. I ate the chicken with knife and fork and left the bun since if I'm going to consume carbs, I want them to be good ones. Husband got the muffuletta burger which he said was good. Bonus points for having Galveston Island Brewing's Pit Pat on tap. A demerit for having only soda in a bottle for $2.25. The decor is fun and quirky. I'm pretty sure it's the first time I ate in a restaurant sitting in old church pews. Not a bad lunch but I don't see returning when you have the amazing burgers at Brews Brothers a couple of blocks away. read more
